I will preempt any Poles in the thread by saying "everyone knows what a chair is", while correct, is not what most people want when they ask for a definition. Though one thing I'm not certain about is whether a chair also requires a part to rest one's back, i.e. is a barstool a type of chair? You could define it either way, I think.
