Fire Emblem Engage General Questions Thread

I have five questions in Engage, I'm at in Chapter 6 right now.

  1. How do I receive the DLC items in Engage like the Three House Leaders Bracelet and the Tiki Bracelet? (I did manage to buy the Expansion Pack and had them downloaded to my Nintendo Switch.)
  2. How many playable characters used mild language swearing words in any of their conversation?
  3. For the amiibos, can Engage use non-Fire Emblem amiibos to get random rewards or other stuff similar to like how Echoes: Shadows of Valentia handles?
  4. What chapter does the Tower of Trials unlock in the Somniel?
  5. What food does Sommie eats that he likes or dislikes? (I do know that he doesn't like the nuts that I gave him, but he seemed to be okay with fruit I found.)

1. the DLC content just appear in your game when you past chapter 4 or 5 iirc. no need to activate it via menus

2. almost none? cant remember since the localization censor even unnecessary things afaik.

4. chapter 11 for tempest trials. but relay trial earlier than that

5. just go with fruit that you have available the most (orange is in abundance in firene) feeding it the same fruit everytime you came back from battle is okay

I think it was Chapter 6 or 7 at the latest. Same time you get Anna's Paralogue The Bandit's Hideout. To start the chain you have to go to the lookout ridge on the Somniel and you'll get a cutscene with the Three House Leaders which will unlock Tiki's Paralogue. Be warned that map can be one long slog.

. . . I can't recall there being any particular potty mouths amoung the cast. But that isn't something I was specifically looking for so it they would have to be swearing like a sailor for me to notice.

Chapter 11 for the Tempest Trials and . . . after chapter 6 for the Tower itself? I didn't do much with it when it first unlocked, but you should be close.

Apples, Oranges, Pears I know he likes and I think Grapes. Basically the fruits.

Okay, thanks for answering the four out of the five questions. I also forgot to ask one question.

How do you unlock the Paralogue that Sean and Anna appears in the overview maps?

You unlock both of them very early on (Paralogues 1 and 2 respectively). As for the language, Diamant calls someone a "bastard" at one point, but that's the worst it gets if that bothers you.

Is there a way to change F!Alear's hair style? I thought she only wore a ponytail in the training outfit, but she's wearing it in this video by Sacred Spear and I can't seem to find a toggle option for it in the "change appearance" menu. Thanks in advance! (The video isn't a spoiler, I'm just putting it in one to save space.)

Spoiler

I asked this earlier, but were any new facilities part of the v1.1.0 datamine or did it just include DLC Emblems and Classes? I don't want to know those so haven't read Vincent's post on the main site. Thanks again!

F!Alear's hair changes depending on the class she is in. I believe if she's a Wolf Knight, she gets her ponytail which is also reflected in the Somniel, not sure about other classes.

No, so far only dlc emblems, classes and units have been able to be dug out, no new facilities as of yet.

Ah, thanks! And here I was wondering if I was going crazy. Sacred Spear made her a Wolf Knight so that explains it. Is that the only class with the different hairdo?

That's a shame, thank you very much! The Nintendo interview said we were getting free facilities, so here's hoping some sort of Support grinding feature will be one of them! Second vote goes to something for SP farming.

Does Sommie’s friendship go down if you don’t pet/feed him for a while? I refuse to be anything but the best of friends with Sommie but at the same time it is a bit of a pain having to go to the grotto every time I visit, especially when he’s right there next to me the whole time.

I know I saw the ponytail in at least one other class. Classes I tried were Wyvern, Hero, Berserker, Great Knight, General, Wolf Knight, and Warrior. Berserker and Wolf Knight are the only ones with a ponytail out of those if I recall right. So it isn't a mounted thing.

Let me just go through some others real quick. Those appear to be the only two that I have unlocked that go with a Ponytail. I do not have any tome class unlocked. And at the point of the game I am at I can't get that proficiency so I can't check the Tome Pref classes. I also didn't check the basic classes, just the advance ones.

Do Emblem abilities like Hold Out, Alacrity, etc. get replaced by their upgraded versions or are the upgraded versions separate from the normal versions?

I didn't expect someone to go through this much trouble! Thank you so much, Usana! You don't need to push yourself to do all this though!!!

If the units holds the Emblem, it's automatically replaced.

If your unit have inherited the skill, you'll need to inherit the new version, and then it'll be replaced. They can't cumulate, and you can't go back to the weak version once you upgraded it.

Yes it can go down. I believe if you don't feed him every two-three battles, it will start to go down bit by bit.

Like Hiroki said, they will be automatically replaced to the upgraded version if you have the emblem equipped and if you inherited the weaker version, you'll have to buy the upgraded version also. The good thing however is that if you have the weaker version, the upgrade will be cheaper. For example, canter is 1000 SP and canter+ is 2000 SP, but if you have bought canter, canter+ will only be 1000 SP instead of its normal 2000.

Any way to raise Emblem bond levels in a hurry? Also, how many bond fragments does it cost to battle Emblems in the arena?

The only fast way I know is via the Arena.

The fragments needed depends on the level you want to achieve. You can gain 5 levels max par fight, or go to a multiple of 5, and each time you pass a multiple, the cost increase. If you have some exp beforehand (like from story mode, paralogues or skirmishes), the needed fragments decreases a bit.

From 1 to 5 = 100 per level

From 5 to 10 = 300 per level

From 10 to 20 = 500 per level

Hope this helped.

So I scanned my first amiibo and got an outfit and picked Lyns song for my music ticket it...but like what do the songs do? Where can I listen to them? I thought it would make it so I can play it as I walk around base, but it's not listed there.

You can listen to them during skirmishes or play them in your room using the reminisce feature

Dont know if this has been asked before.

I'm one person who likes to get all supports but outside of skirmishes where I have low lvl units who can easily die...  what else I can do? I have been using cooking and random arena battles but it's kinda slow..

if its support with Alear then theres gift option. but between other units, outside what you already said , none afaik.

cooking spam is your best options for now if you want to reach a lot of A support before endgame / dont want to grind support post game

So regarding forging and engraving... anybody got any recommendations?

I`ve been looking at numbers and so on and so forth and so far the most cost effective option looks to be forged iron, since they are pretty light and do gain a solid amount of dmg? Also the Liberation at +5 has already put in some serious work.

Regarding engravings... Lyn and Corrin on melee killer weapons and Eirika on ranged killer weapons? Leif if you don´t have weight problems, Sigurd if you do and also wanna be dodgier? The rest seems... underwhelming, or very specialised.

Edit: Crit is [Weapon Crit Rate] + [Dex/2 (rounded down)]?
