It's player analysis time. These will only be brief and not in full detail (because I really cbf analysing absolutely every post of every player). Also, role details and intentions will be with the respective player tags. Player actions and results will also be shown.

His play was alright, still managed to find himself on the rolefishing criticism like most games. Although that was around Cam's claim, so yeah. To be fair though, Elie probably did the right thing here because Cam was being quite ambiguious about his claim, which really shouldn't be the case if he (Cam) was town. Although pushing this claim may have made him look scummy, he wanted to draw a possible hook N1. Although the only hook was with scum, so that probably wouldn't have ended the way he intended.

Was one of the players who actually suspected Paperscum early on. His other reads were solid, but not quite there.

You are Halsh, the Landsknecht. Proficient in use of both swords and axes, your fighting style is very offense minded. Having said that, you still have a good amount of defensive prowess, and are quite possibly, even given that, one of the less useful classes in the game.

On your off days, you play the flute and hide away in your house. Like a true hero.

Once during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X - War Cry for USER!. USER will be inspired by your war cry, and they will get another use of their ability. This only applies to certain abilities, which are unknown to you.

So this role was intended to give town something different in the game. Only certain abilities could be affected by War Cry (check the spreadsheet; only the secondary abilities). Quite possibly could have been quite strong, possibly too much so. The self hook prevent was there to allow a guaranteed War Cry if the role didn't run into a safeguard or similar. The tradeoff is apparent though, because it delays the ability grant a cycle, which can be make or break. Outright using the ability was inherently more risky.

Shinori: I don't like how scorri is ignoring helios. I don't like that she said cam granny claim is more town than my claim since they are both practically the same thing and she says he is the more likely one to flip town now or something, and i feel that cam voting scorri and then scorri voting me is some sort of distancing vote in case one of the flips scum or some sort.

This pretty much summarizes Shinori. He was definitely right about Cam and Helios, but tunneled scorri because of the circumstances provided. Which was kinda a shame really, because otherwise his play was actually quite good this game. Aside from the fact that he was going to shoot the doc. ;/

Claiming the commuter D1 may not have been the best idea, considering he was just as ambiguious about it at first like Cam, which drew some attention. I didn't really intend on having this role claim D1, tbh.

Dear Shinori,

You are Shinori, the Survivalist. Your proficiency lies in being able to use bows, and being really, really quick. Also, for some reason, the best damage dealing class in the game. Must be the abilities.

You come across to most people as solitary, and you mostly spend your time out in the wild by yourself anyway.

Once during the night, but only from night 2 onwards, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X – Apollon targeted at USER.. You will unleash the ultimate bow skill, which will rain arrows down upon USER, killing them instantly.

Twice during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X - Cloak. You will hide away in the shadows, preventing all abilities from affecting you that night, including kills. You cannot use this ability on consecutive nights.

You are aligned with The Guild. You win when all threats have been eliminated.

This role was intended to be more of a behind the scenes, a sneaky role. Yeah that worked out well. The commuter was to give the role time to reach the required time for the vig shot. It probably would have been better if I made the vig shot available only from N3 onwards, because there wasn't a lot of risk of being killed until that point (unless the masshook or superkill went out (check priority)).

This might sound hypocritical, but I feel like Paperblade is just doing enough to not attract attention, and I personally find it a bit scummy.

All I can really say is that Core was pretty much spot on with scumreads this game, although they flucuated a bit throughout (eg: Rein suspicion). Also got the legit best tracker target for N1, which when it was outed D3, actually forced out a scumslip from Paper (at least it would have been once Helios flipped). Was targeted by the neighbourizer because he was seen as townie enough, and actually did something really interesting in the neighbour PM:

I got a notification saying that something had frightened me during the night, but I wasn't told what it was or what it meant.

I actually went and checked the flavor I gave him for N1 because it was actually quite well done. He was trying to ellcit a reaction from Helios about the visit from Paper on N1, which was a good idea.

You are Dirk, the Survivalist. Your proficiency lies in being able to use bows, and being really, really quick. Also, for some reason, the best damage dealing class in the game. Must be the abilities.

You seem to be quite the popular one around the town. You exude fabulousness for some completely unknown reason.

Once during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X – Be Aware. You will become more aware of your surroundings. That night, you will see all the people that come to visit you. You will not know why they visited you, because of the darkness of the night, just that they were around.

Once during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X – Ambush USER. You will stalk USER through the night, seeing who they visit that night, but not what they are doing.

You are aligned with The Guild. You win when all threats have been eliminated.

This was the mid range investigative role for town. It should be noted that the tracker could have gotten another shot from War Cry, but the Ronin's Sight couldn't have, which could have made it a bit stronger. The self-watcher could be used at a point to determine whether someone is lying about their targets possibly, but overall probably wouldn't have done a lot for information at crunch time.

TBH Anticold just gave me a free town pass. The chances of me actually using it in unison with Cam's kill were pretty slim.

This pretty much sums Aere's play up this game. Definitely could have done a little bit more D1, and really needed to exist during D2. Need to work on the earlygame play a bit.

You would be more useful if one of the other classes’ ability wasn’t bugged to be infinitely more effective at reducing damage. Still useful to have.

scorri's play was decent in this game, considering it was her first game where she lived past N1 as town. Although I have to question why she jumped on Shinori instead of Cam ED1 when both hadn't explained their roleclaim, and where Shinori had more interactions. Other than that, some decently solid play.

You are Edana, the Medic. You are proficient at healing, and not much else. Regardless, you are the most broken class in the entire game due to one of your skills not working as intended.

You have this strange obsession with bugs, and have a collection in our house. Some people wonder about your sanity sometimes.

Twice during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X – Perform CPR on USER. This will protect USER from being killed. This effect lasts for 2 days, but is removed if it prevents a kill. You may not use this ability on consecutive nights. You will only visit the target on the first night, and not the second. This does not stop your target from being lynched.

Once during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X - Cast Revive on USER. USER must be deceased. USER will be returned to the game the following day. If USER is targeted by any night action, they will die immediately, because you haven’t practiced this ability enough. USER will be made aware of this fact. If you die while USER is still alive, they will also die, unfortunately.

The revive could force out a town clear on the behalf of the reviver and the revived. I saddled the revived with the condition because otherwise it would have been really easy to stay alive. The doublephase doc was mostly there to give an opportunity to prevent the kill when the masshook went down, but there was no chance at that point because of the revive being used.

Iris played alright through the game, wasn't terribly active but contributed pretty well when she could. That LD1 Rapier vote though was kinda out of the blue though. Core suspicions were kinda eh as well. Got killed N2 for the counterclaim to Cam. N1 voyeur target would have been not very useful because it would have only seen a kill... which would have been obvious anyway. :/

Dear Iris,

You are Ulrich, the Alchemist. Proficient in all types of magic, you are the only mage that can be used in the game. Although, your damage is stupidity high early on, it falls off really quickly, leaving you as one of the worse classes in the game.

You collect shoes for some weird reason. People do wonder why, and your response is; “You never know when you might need them.”

Once during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X - Cast Sight over USER. Using your perchance for magical powers, this allows you to watch over USER that night, seeing what actions were performed on USER. You won’t see who performed those actions, unfortunately.

Once during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X – Warp USER. USER will be warped away that night. This will prevent all actions from affecting them that night, but will not prevent the mafia kill.

Fairly simple role, SG and voyeur. Watcher (the original intention) probably would have made the role quite strong, so yeah.

And I guess overall role thoughts. It is super provable, which I think is pretty rad. I guess I am just being cautious with it right now because I don't have any reads because nobody has posted and I'd rather not give my role to scum for free! I mean I guess it wouldn't be too bad and I'm still thinking it over, but right now I'd rather not take an unnecessary risk. It seems more useful to send my strongest town reads my role PM rather than fling it around randomly without any information. Though I suppose I could give it to someone now and ask them to prove my role D1. Though I could do that D2 as well. It's a friendly townie with benefits. The vote part is also easily provable which is useful, and it's like a lynch tie mayor.

It's sort of like an inverse claim to me I'm mayor.

This is the best I could come up with. And in a twist of fate, he ended up giving his role to scum N1 anyway. :/

Also a prize for pretty much adapting my N1 Haphazard action and for giving me color coded reads in the role PM.

Aside from that, he was fairly inactive (for personal reasons) during the game, and missed out D2 almost completely. Drew the ire of people because of said inactivity, but yet when he did post, I feel he had some solid content. His reads were pretty good, but never suspected Paper (and gave his role PM to him, oops).

Dear Strider,

You are Mercury, the Troubador. You are proficient in singing songs and playing instruments. Yes really. You’ll be glad to know that you are one of the more broken classes in the game, because of having stupidly good party-wide buffing capacity.

You are so incredibly cheerful that nothing can stop you from feeling happy. Nothing at all.

Because you have a brilliant capacity for music, people will listen to your Songs. This means that your vote will break any ties for a lynch. This will deactivate in LYLO and variants, as the town will be more focused on not dying to listen.

Twice during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X – Singing the song of Bravery for USER. USER will hear your song, and USER will find your Role PM while searching for the source of the song.

You are aligned with The Guild. You win when all threats have been eliminated.

God this role was originally so broken (see earlier notes). But that aside, this role was fairly decent in the scheme of balance. Yes, it was provable, but only in a limited amount. But it was probably enough to tip the scales. Lynchbreaker was included so the role actually had some slight amount of extra power past proving themselves to people.

And got lynched for not continuing it. >_<

Rapier also got hit with the inactivity club this game, at least during D1. And then managed to get minimum lynched as well. And was then revived because of his role, and then died again because of the masshook. Yo-yo'ing between life and death, poor guy.

Needs to work on early game posts, because fun fact, he's always lynched in every game he's in, town or otherwise. (at least in NOC). Being a little bit more active and a little less scummy (although in this game, it was mostly inactivity) would probably go a long way.

Dear Rapier,

You are Rine, the Ronin. Your proficiency lies in using katanas, and changing stances to further enhance your fighting capability. One of the hidden classes, you come at around halfway through the game. By that point, you’re just a very fragile front line fighter, which very much limits your use.

In your spare time, you create string structures. Why, not even you know. But it’s fun.

Three times during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X – Using Sight on USER. You will go into a trance, and will receive USER’s full Role PM the following night. You may still talk during the day. You can only look for one Role PM at a time.

If you are not looking for a Role PM, you stay in your Mikiri stance, which allows you to redirect all abilities targeting you, not including kills. Because you have not honed the stance, you will randomly redirect the abilities that target you.

Slowcop because I didn't want town to have a fullcop (would have been too strong). And I got to play around with the toggle idea. It was basically either slowcop or Nexus, and the combination of the two probably wasn't going to happen.

First, activity. It sucked. Despite being on a lot, Paper's said relatively little, and that worries me. What I also don't like is how people kinda shifted over, based on what I did. I really don't like that. Thanks to that flip, I find scorri extremely scummy and Paper less so. Smack Rapier for basically not paying attention. ;/

Pretty much. Clipsey's play was a combination of scumhunting and telling people what they should be doing. Which to be quite honest, was kinda needed. Clipsey has some good comments about some people's play during D1, which you should pprobably check out if you have the time. That said though, I would say it might be better to tone it down a little bit, because it's becoming fairly common from you these days to have a portion of your play come from this. Some of it is fine, particularly if used in conjunction with scumhunting, and backing up some of those comments with votes.

Was killed N1 for some reason. I can see Clipsey being townish, but that much? I can't say I agreed there.

You are Konbu, the Hexer. Adept at debilitating enemies with curses, you bring a unique utility to a team. However, being an unlockable class, you come far too late, and hence underleveled, to be much use.

You play around with the town’s animals in your spare time. You love all of them.

(Warning: Watch your step when choosing actions, because they are quite likely to backfire.)

Twice during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X – Cast Relapse on USER. You will cast the Relapse curse on USER, which will make USER forget about the action they just performed. USER will be required to wait one additional phase before using the ability they just used, if they did. This also includes the mafia kill, that is, if you target the person taking the mafia kill, they may not take it the following night.

Twice during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X - Cast Fraility on USER. USER will be weakened by the curse, requiring one less vote to lynch them during the day (lynched at L-1). However, if they do not amass the required votes for their lynch, and they have majority, there will be no lynch that day. This ability will not take effect in LYLO or variants.

Relapse would have functioned as a town roleblock, just more conditional. Fraility was an interesting little gimmick, but probably wouldn't have done much.

Welp. Cam definitely could have played this a lot better. The jumping around his fakeclaim caught him far too much attention D1, and that persisted until he was lynched. Like people said, if you have a role that is detrimental to the town, just claim it outright. His ED1 play of "I don't care" really isn't a good reason at all, and also contributed to his eventual lynch.

You are Ren. A ronin in the employ of The Radha, you take orders from Visil to protect the Yggdrasil Labyrinth from explorers that learn too much about it. You go under the guise of helping new explorers with Tlachtga when they start exploring the Labyrinth, to alleviate suspicions.

Once, when you are taking the factional kill, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X - Using Hyosetsu on USER! This will prevent all actions from affecting you or USER that night, effectively making the kill unstoppable and unblockable. However, one of The Guild has an ability that if activated the same night that you take this kill, will prevent the kill. The ability is called Anticold, and is a threat to this ability. However, only the kill will be stopped and you and USER will still not be affected by any other actions.

Once during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X - Use Ibuki. You will use your slight innate magical power to strengthen yourself. You will require one more vote to lynch you during the day (lynched at L+1). However, if you do not amass the required votes for your lynch, and you have majority, there will be no lynch that day. This ability will not take effect in LYLO or variants.

Superkill and Loved. Nothing particularly strong, considering the strength level of the remaining mafia. Ibuki existed because I wanted the inverse of Fraility.

I'm starting to feel like most of the people attacking Helios are being opportunistic. Several people are attacking him for being mafia without actually voting him or pushing him to claim. Discussion is getting stagnant, which is what the mafia wants.

Yeah. Kinda hypocritical. But no one pushed this hard enough to force attention onto Paper, so yeah. That aside, he did a good job being Papermole until he slipped during D3.

All investigative roles will be randomly redirected, opposite alignments will be shown, and role names will be removed for that night. At the start of the next day, the following message will be broadcast to the town: “There is an ominous feeling in the air… After some discussion, you all came to a similar conclusion, that everyone woke up with a throbbing head pain. No one is sure if any investigation results are to be trusted after what happened."

Twice during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X - Cast Binding on USER. This hex will restrain USER in place, preventing them from completing their action that night.

Once during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X - Cast Abdomen around USER. Anyone who visits USER during the night will be affected by the curse, making them writhe in pain after they complete their action. They will drop their Role PM while in pain, which you will pick up for your own use.

The mafia role that got to screw with everyone. Masshook, hooks, investigation confuser. And nightwatch (or w/e you want to call it). Probably the strongest mafia role, and coincidentally fell into Paper's hands.

I still think people made a huge deal out of nothing Rapier made a listpost and no one is giving him shit for it. What I hate is normally I'm really good at defending myself and then casually shifting the blame on someone else (something Eclipse told me I should do when I first played this game) but since all the attention is on me I can't get away with anything and get called out for everything. Hopefully my "defense" will be good enough for a while.

Ahhh I just realized I put Rein at L-1...coulda hammered him instantly if I knew with my ability haha.

Helios got a lot of attention ED1 for his "list" post, and everything just snowballed out of control from there. With attention always on him, all the little mistakes started adding up which eventually led to his lynch (and the L-1 wagon in about half an hour). Kinda disappointing, because once you're the center of attention, it is hard to get it off. Helios probably would have done alright if people hadn't focused on him all game.

The choice to be neighbours with Core was a little strange, and didn't really help Helios make himself look more town. :/

If you want to use it ahead of time, that’s also fine) If you still have the day persuader shot, you cannot use both that and this ability on the same day.

One during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X - Fling Thorns at USER1, USER2 and USER3. Being part of the almighty World Tree, you have the ability to extend at three target players. One of those players will be roleblocked, as they will be in excruciating pain. Another will reveal their Role PM to you, in return of not being harmed by the thorns. The last one will be silenced the following day, as they will have passed out from the pain. The targets for each part will be chosen at random.

Once during the night, you may reply to your Role PM with Night X – Protect self with Twigs. This will put up a protective layer around you. This will prevent all abilities from affecting you that night. However, the amount of effort required to keep this shield active will prevent you from taking the factional kill that night.

Oh boy. The huge PR for scum, but only if Ren and Tlachtga were killed. Not knowing his hidden part of his role (but knowing what triggered it to reveal) probably made it seem like the role wasn't as strong as it actually was.

I'd be a lot less inclined to tell people what they're doing wrong if they'd read postgames and not make the same mistakes over and over. This was kinda why I like having postgames out sooner than later (BTW, Manix did his job, now it's up to the rest of us to learn where we screwed up and try not to replicate the same errors in future games). I'm seeing a lot less "my play style is naturally scummy" as a defense (as one example), so thanks everyone.
