I honestly don't think that should matter, queries are separate from the chat completely, ops have no power there. It's up the the people talking in queries to be smart enough to know how to deal with it. I mean, you CAN block people's messages if you have mIRC if you have major problems with someone. Sevensins
*sigh* I'm ;retty sure you can type in /ignore for EVERY client. It's just that most of our users are young and immature, and want to fight instead of talking it out. Ya whippersnappers! Ya know in my day, we hadda beat our enemies down alone! In the middle of the forest, with gunfire overhead! On unicycles!
SmartRutter7
All right, i think i'm going to revise the rules a bit. So listen up and follow them cause i want every op and user to be aware of this, and what the boundries are. ____________________________________________________________ OFFICIAL #SERENES_FOREST RULES Rule 1: No flaming other people, especially ops. Ops reserve the right to kick or kickban you for a period of time. Rule 2: Keep spamming to a reasonable limit. If it gets to the point where the chat is flooded with spam, that's overdoing it, and ops may kick/ban etc. When the chat is relatively empty and with few users, i don't think its as much of a problem to spam. After all, the whole point to not spam is to not interrupt a discussion. Rule 3: No links to pornographic images or anything that shows inapproriate areas of the body. This means no linking to images OR pages containg such content. When in doubt, ask an op. Punishment for this: kickban. If an op isn't around and finds out about it later, and can verify the logs are correct without a doubt, still a ban. Rule 4: USE CORRECT GRAMMAR. It's annoying to see people typing like they're still in first grade. One exception is leet and other internet acronyms of course. But don't spam the place up with constant leet. Rule 5: Op abuse. If you have any complaints, contact me or one of the other ops. If one of them doesn't listen, contact the head op (that'd be me, SmartRutter). Such examples of op abuse could be kicking/banning for personal reason, setting mode +m for an extended period of time, and of course all the other rules still apply. Punishment is pretty much my choice, depending on how badly you did it. It could range anywhere from a: warning, kick, ban, temporary loss of op privilges, or total elimination from the op list. Rule 6: Scripts and bots. Since i'm pretty much the person who runs these, here's the rules about this. DO NOT SPAM AND OVERLOAD MY BOT. It runs right here, on my own computer, i have logs, even if i'm not there, i still can see what you did. Same goes for scripts, don't spam them, ops can turn my scripts off by typing !scripts off. !scripts on turns them back on, !scripts shows the status of my scripts. !help will give you a list of my scripts, in case you're ever lost. My bot is Makoto, she talks back to if you mention her name, you'll find the responses rather random and funny at times... Rule 7: DON'T BE IGNORANT OF THE RULES. Rule 8: If you're really want to be an op, ask me, i may consider, once i say no, don't spam me by begging for it. Ops will be chosen by their maturity level and aptitude for irc commands. Rule 9: Insubordination. Don't ignore the ops, they control the chatroom. If you don't like a certain op, tell me, i can remove ops as easily i can recruit them. Rule 10: Just use common sense and don't treat others like crap. So go on the chat, have fun, and don't going ruining it. Have a nice day. :) Rule 11: No talking behind people's backs. This includes insulting them, and otherwise talking trash about them. I'm adding this rule due this happening numerous times on the chat. You'll be kicked and warned the first time, and swiftly kickbanned the next offense. ____________________________________________________________ I think that just about sums it up, unfortunately what i don't like is that most people are bound not to read this since not everyone ever goes into this chat sub-forum in fftf. Perhaps it should be posted elsewhere? Edited December 30, 2008 by SmartRutter7
¬_¬
I wouldn't say it's a good idea to have people ask to be OPs, as there seems to be enough of them as there is. Though today there was a bit of backlash between some.
