For something that's 'optional', I find it funny that the main voting section is in regards to the 'best in theme' instead of 'best or most well made', which seems like a much more logical voting section, with the 'optional' theme coming in second before favorites being the third section.

Third section? Huh?

I'm not sure what you're worrying about, unless all you want is to have are gloryPoints or redefine the odd case where multiple choice doesn't overlap with single choice.

'Best in Theme' question provides an incentive for the person to take an additional restriction in exchange for the possibility that they'll be able to choose the next theme. Second question pulls two other mugs, and I toss the final mug back to 'Best in Theme', to cover the case if there was a close 2nd. Anything over two questions gets to be too many votes, imo, and multiple choice already gives a general metric of people's perception of 'Best Overall' (but I'm guessing your issue is that this isn't being rewarded enough?).

The sections are identical in the polling layout. The first thing in a sequence isn't always the 'most important'.

That appears to be his issue, yes.

I doubt it, but I'd rather get an answer from Nickt directly.

Didn't intend to suggest Nickt was complaining for those reasons, just those are things I can see someone getting rustled about. This isn't the place to throw personal attacks on anyone either so I'd appreciate if you didn't.

I think the suggestion and phrasing you put forth (particularly 'GloryPoints' )is very easily construable as an offhanded jab in its own right, actually. I also can't see any reason to complain about the order in which things appear, given the secondary case you stated is extremely unlikely.

But as you say.

Lenh's sr104_zps1275a0fc.png wins Best in Theme with Toa's wujk3fA.png close behind!

Nickt's 52alb9.png wins popular opinion at 65% satisfaction rating.

Toa will get to choose next theme and a mug; Nickt, Mark975, and Pimpstick get to choose a mug.

Posting for clarification purposes.

As a reader of this topic, when I come into voting I see an array of mugs before me, my mind registers these in several aspects.

I see things that are wrong, things that could be better. I see clever use of parts, mugs that are thematically correct in regards to the contest's theme, I see mugs that I like, mugs that I don't like, maybe there's potential, maybe there isn't.

When it comes to voting, I tend to think in regards to three different aspects. Mugs that are well made, mugs that I like and mugs that are thematically correct.

Now, in this instance, the theme was manliness. However, perhaps the mug I feel is the most manly is not necessarily the one I like, it may not be the one I feel is the best made, either.

That's why I brought up three sections, I'm glad we've gotten to two since there was quite an issue in the past where well done mugs were being over-looked because of joke entries, or people just picking their favorites.

I see I see~

In the past we tried three questions and it was a pain both in terms of copying all the IMG tags into a question a third time and in terms of getting people to feel comfortable and not given a big chore in voting. Not everyone thinks alike, and the questions are generalized for that reason (the first is specified for Best in Theme just so we can continue that incentive spin).

If someone's done something exceptional or promising in a particular area you can still give them an individual shout-out for it. That option's always been available.
