There was a rumor certain choices in battle prevented characters from dying. Is it truth?

So FE14 is FE1 and FE7's plot all over again wth complexity? Not even surprised. At least the writer is going good. Also, I'd like to say that Amie is not only optional, but the explicit lines only show up for those characters when you S rank them. Otherwise it is their normal, platonic lines.

A little bit of localization isn't a bad thing.
You can all live without a couple of those lines in Fire Emblem Amie and an S-rank or two being changed to "companions" again.
I would like to object. Those Amie lines make the characters more interesting! Somehow... In some way...

At this point my honest guess is this. kamui was born in some unaffiliated village. Kamui's true father and mother die. Mikoto, being a friend of the family adopts kamui and then raises Kamui as her own. Then moves to Hoshido with Kamui. Its apparently confirmed in his s rank support with Sakura that he has a different father from the other Hoshido siblings and this makes the most sense with why he can S rank them. It also covers why Mikoto is so caring for Kamui in the early chapters. Kamui is her child, just not by blood. thats my theory going off everything we know anyways. My guess is the third path will be covering why Kamui and Aqua aren't actually related to either family and who their true parents are.
Adoption is also good, and would fit as well. Sakura's words just make me curious though, and I want to piece together pieces. Aqua can S-rank Leon, and S rank Kamui, so what the heck is going on? Seems like we'll have to wait until the leakers reveal some things.

Where do Ryoma and Hinoka come in if Mikoto moved to Hoshido with Kamui? King Sumeragi's children? Then Takumi and Sakura came next?

Sounds pretty pointless. Might as well have given both genders two kids. Smells like another bout of favoritism that Awakening had for the male, but reverse this time.

I think Male Kamui gets Felicia; Female Kamui gets Joker/Jacob.
Also, I hear that if you have a female character during the Hoshido explosion scene it has Kamui as a male instead of female yet uses the female voice clip.

Any new info on the children? Still waiting to see if the streams confirm they are time travel or alternate reality.

So anything about the children beyond being gaidens? Do they just pop out of nowhere?
I'd also like to explore Kamui's parentage some more. This is interesting.

It's not really clear if Mikoto is actually Kamui's mother, but that's the assumption at this point.

Apparently not. The developers needed a reason for their (w)incest, and well, there it is.
Everyone kept suspecting it.... So that means that Kamui's father before Mikoto was a Manakete! And Mikoto doesn't have pointed ears and... Good lord, the developers basically told us this before the game was even released. They gave us visual hints and we missed it.

Big Hoshido Siblings S-Support Spoilers!
I was going through 2ch where someone S-ranked Sakura and apparently Kamui shares a different father than the other siblings? Sakura also mentions how Mikoto already had Kamui when she first moved from her home town to Hoshido. I'm not really sure what that implies about Kamui/Kamui's actual(?) age though.
So Kamui ISN'T related to Hoshido or Nohr?
