The main character should stand above most of the other characters, without rendering them useless, imo. They're supposed to be born leaders, leading their small armies against much more powerful enemies. They're supposed to raise the moral of their men by being perceived as brave and moderately powerful warriors.

Same here. They probably wouldn't stand out that much if there weren't so many dull lords (Roy, Eliwood, Leaf)

Music is usually easier to get into for the average Joe. "hey bro, listen to this song, it's called clockwork angels" The bro pirates the eponymous Rush album within 24 hours. "hey bro, i've been reading this book called the dream of the celt, it talks about human explotation and irish nationalism" The bro has forgotten all about that conversation and Ireland long before the next day.

I frequently fight with people without either party getting injured; we punch each other without feeling any impact on our fists. I also tend to wear suites and climb stairs/run on all four for no reason. I'd really like to know what any of these 'symbols' mean. I always assumed most fe characters, even those born in barns, *should* have some kind of surname/patronymic, but they're omitted because they aren't relevant to the plot/IS just didn't feel like giving them full names. Alternatively, the characters aren't called by their full name because the different countries in different continents have different naming customs and explaining this could be confusing and it wouldn't really add to the story.
