  1. Children could just as easily be trainees, squires or apprentices acquired through ways that don't involve bad story excuses and mental gymnastics.

Personally, while I love the children in Awakening, they don't feel needed in Fates and are only there because it was such a popular concept in its predecessor. All that development time could've gone to polishing the main game instead.

I voted no on both, but I did so under the assumption that the mechanic would remain more or less the way it is now; if they pull a Genealogy of the Holy War, then it's another matter entirely. However, I think even that would be unnecessary, and that Intelligent Systems should focus on one single, large cast as opposed to one big and one small, and if they do that, then we can get fewer but more developed support conversations as well. At least in an ideal world.

I didn't consider squires or apprentices. Those are great options! Just curious though, how would the inheritance work?

Like if A marries/A ranks/friendships/whatever in the next game to B, then does the apprentice inherit from that? Children worked because it was a parent, but would the squire just look up to the variable parent and inherit stats from them? I'm looking at this from a mechanic standpoint so that's why I ask

  2. Yeah. Story wise they're not that great, although I can't say I dislike more units, even if it is poorly written. Doing a future mechanic like Genalogy of the Holy War could work, but I'd also miss the old units, which I know is a small nitpick but whatever

The deep realms honestly weren't TOO BAD. I mean it's bad, but I always felt people freaked a bit much in them. Yes it was forced, but still... I'm not sure of another way to make it work besides time skip

  3. The reason I like children is more so as a mechanic. Having a customizable unit that you can build to be whatever you want, and also having lots of them, makes the game have more replay ability and options. Even if it's poorly incorporated story wise, the children mechanic adds a lot to the game's replay ability, whether it be building your own units, filling out the support log, etc.

I know a lot of people will say they won't want kids, but in my opinion they're really fun as a mechanic

  4. This theory is very interesting and cool!

Question though, just like how Kamui/Corrin was conditioned to forget Silas, could Felicia have been conditioned to forget she was a hostage? No offense to Felicia, but Flora seems like the more competent twin of the two so it'd make sense in a way for her to either remember or have her be the one trusted with the information by her father.

Also, where did it say that fake Garon, Iago, etc didn't know they were Kilma's daughters?

Edit: Nevermind. I reread your post and see what you're saying now. It's a very good point and the only reason I can think of is that Kilma just finally got fed up with Garon's rule that he now decides to rebel for the good of his tribe

  5. At any rate, it would have benefited them both had the game actually had proper world-building and delved into their lives in Nohr. I would have accepted Felicia's point of view had I been given a reason and explanation for it other than Felicia apparently being okay with being a hostage, for some inexplicable reason.

This. I wish Fates had much more world building. Certain aspects of Fates have me invested to the point that I've started world building myself and wanting to make a separate topic just for it XD

  6. A person could pick it up either way if you think about it. She could just reach down right there and pick it up, but otherwise a lot of the smaller parts about Camilla's art and cutscenes point more to left handed

Should we settle on ambidextrous or left for Azura? I'm leaning more towards ambidextrous

  7. Oh, no! I don't mean like she has trouble walking. Just sort of like a staff she carries around. I am not exactly sure what I'm trying to say here, it's late where I live and I should probably go to bed soon. Think about it this way: if you were carrying something large around all of the time, would you be more likely to hold it in your dominant, or non dominant?

Just look up lance/staff wielding tutorial. It'll most likely be right handed. Then you can compare the stances.

(I laughed a bit because your profile pic went really well with your first few sentences XD)

I understand what you're saying now. Again I'll have to look more into basic Lance wielding to see what is really meant to be dominant. We can use Azura's songstress model as evidence since she's the only possible one in that class. Other class models are a bit harder because EVERYONE can be any class, and every model is right handed so there's no individuality...

We know that combat animations are all right-handed, so Azura does fight right-handed, but she also holds the lance with her left hand so I think she's ambidextrous or at least able to use her left-hand. That would also make Hinoka left-handed.

When you say Hinoka is left handed, what about when she's just holding her Lance when not fighting like Azura. I believe it was still in her right hand
  9. The thing about the cane is that why would Azura use her lance as a cane? I guess her pendant could be having a strain on her, but she seems to fight with it just fine and can move around pretty great on the battlefield. There's also the dance cutscene where we can see her moving around without a problem.

Her being ambidextrous could be possible, but I feel like we can at least assume she's good with her left. I want to know more about general lance wielding to see if she could be right in a way

  10. In the art book that came with my special edition, there's a drawing of Azura that has her hold the lance in her left hand. It's the full body art sketch that would later become her portrait. Granted you could say the portraits flip, but Kozaki did not have to draw her with it in her left hand there if he clearly originally drew it with her facing left and with it in her right hand

Take Shifure for example. Facing the same direction as Azura, he holds the lance in the opposite hand, his right. Look g at their portraits, no matter what, Shigure and Azura have opposite handedness
