Swordfaire and Tomefaire aren't on Gremory, which I think will be significant to a glass cannon like Lysithea. If the requisite Use Up+ skills can be equipped, Gremory isn't as valuable of a class. As I'm not planning on Lysithea being my main healer I want her for damage dealing.

This could be moot if the magic base stat for Gremory is 5 or more higher than Mortal Savant, Dark Knight or Holy Knight (The master classes with the different tomefaires).  The way I see it "-faire" skills are designed to encourage specialization, eg Mortal Savant is disadvantaged using dark or white magic, and should stick to black magic.  However, Gremory is a magic generalist and I wouldn't be surprised if she had the highest magic base of any class.  Not to mention having the uses of every spell doubled would let, say Lysithea, use Hades Ω and Abraxas (2 base uses each) more liberally, which would also increase her effective damage output.

  2. I calculated the average stats for all the characters at level 40 (I don't know if that's the level cap or not, I just picked it).  I included results for if Cyril has Aptitude.

    My guideline would be..

    • A unit is strictly physical if it deals more physical damage on an Armor Knight than magical.
    • A unit is strictly magical if it deals more magical damage on a Priest/Pegasus Knight than physical.
    • Otherwise, it is a somewhat viable mixed attacker.

I completely agree with that guideline.

Can we confirm that the levels of recruitable NPCs (students, faculty, knights etc) scale as the story progresses?

If that's true, then Cyril may still function as an Est but instead of levels, it would be skill levels.

It would seem that faculty and knights will have the easiest time to reach Master Classes.

The counter argument is that they never released stat charts for T4 and never intended to, so if the chart was made only with T0-T3 in mind it makes sense to have T3 hit the top of the charts

It's possible.  I guess I want to hold out hope that classes like Hero, Assassin, and Swordmaster can still be viable.  Mortal Savant is cool and all, but I don't know if it feels like a worthy replacement to all 3 of those.

It was soft confirmed by someone on Reddit who has played 3 Houses that Master Classes are miles beyond Advanced Classes stat wise; but I guess discounting and stuff can sorta make up for it a little bit but we don't know for sure that we know ALL of the Master Classes; but that's asking for a bit much at this point I think.

I am skeptical of this only because of the stat charts provided on the official Japanese website: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/switch/anvya/pc/class/details.html?id=28

The advanced classes are all reaching the maximum level on the chart and have run out of room to expand into.  Previously, each tier has stretched the maximum for any particular stat just a level further, but the ceiling was hit with Advanced classes.  I suspect that the master classes will have overall "better" stats, but that they will still be comparable to advanced classes.  For example, the Great Knight may have the defense and hp of the Fortress Knight, and the overall well rounded stats of the paladin in other areas while sharing their terrible speed.  So, it may be technically better, but not so much that it renders a paladin useless.  The Mortal Savant may take the speed and strength of the swordmaster and add on top a high magic stat to use reason with, but I suspect they will be comparable as sword users.

I could be off, but that is my hunch

  7. I have a prediction for the available hero's relics.  Assuming crests are analogous to holy blood from Geneology of the Holy War in that they grant the ability to use the games "legendary" weapons, we may have some hints on what weapons will be available to a few of the characters in the Black Eagles.  Three Black Eagles students that we know of are descended from Saints that appear as statues in the monastery.  Based on the weapons that these statues are depicted wielding (in Cichol's and Cehlenn's cases I inferred axe and lance respectively based on the renown bonuses they grant), we can derive the hero's relics these characters may have access to.

    Ferdinand - Cichol - Axe

    Bernadetta - Indech - Bow

    Linhardt - Cethlenn - Lance

    ??? - Macuil - Sword

You may remember that in the tree house video, we were shown Linhardt being trained in lances to be a cavalier even though that clearly wasn't a natural fit for his talents.  Likewise, we see Ferdinand trained in axes and class-changed to a brigand.  I believe that the showcaser, who mentioned having played through the game previously, knew about the hero's relics they would later get and was training them accordingly.  Just a guess though, we'll have to wait and see obviously.

  8. Korean uses a very similar system of honorifics and nowadays it is common for children to drop the honorifics with siblings and even parents depending on the family, but back in the old days honorifics were commonly used for older siblings. I assume Japanese wouldn't differ too much.
