I actually like the designs we've seen so far, especially Claude's. They're simple, but still distinctive. The over-the-top, ridiculous character designs of Fates (Peri and Camilla bugged me) weren't my cup of tea.

You're a sap.

Let's see:
Azama/Sakura: I don't like this pairing whatsoever. This support is on this list for the sole reason that in their B support, Sakura tells Azama to shut up then breaks her staff in half with her bare hands.
Odin/Kagero: They're on the same wavelength, I guess. It was cute to see Kagero get so excited about her "silkwyrm" painting coming to life.
Arthur/Felicia: The two of them can combine to create one outrageously clumsy mega-person.
Arthur/Beruka: I didn't expect to like this at all, but I think this is my favorite support for Beruka? Funnily enough, this support actually had some solid development and believable chemistry.
Benny/Camilla: Adorable. Contains the great line, "I'll have you know I've never punched a bear in the face."
Camilla/Ignatius: I know the mother supports are generic, but Camilla calling Ignatius her "baby boy" and how his squemishness around bugs reminds her of when he was little is just so cute.
Benny/Charlotte: A sweet, natural progression.
Kaze/Orochi: While their first supports are a bit lame, their A and S supports are quite... flirtatious. I like it. Like, I could definitely see them being into each other.

My least favorite character would have to be Peri. Like, as soon as she got in my party, her ass was benched and, her equipment, seized and given to another member.
Her design, in my opinion, is decent. Only her hair stands out and makes me cringe. Also that runny eyeliner in that one portrait. If there had been another character with two-tone hair, such as her possible child or even a generic, I would have been less annoyed with it.
Her personality is terrible, as is the justification for it. What was it? Please correct me if I'm wrong about it. Her mother was killed by a servant or something and, then she randomly kills her subsequent servants if they annoy her. Her father allows this to continue...why? Like, I realize they play her personality as she has suffered a psychological trauma but it seems as if everyone just kind of brushes it off. The game slams Hans for slaughtering random innocents but Peri gets to do for some inane reason? Is it because she is a minor character or something?
Please point out any incorrect information in my post. I don't want to dislike a character due to misinformation.
God, Peri is so, so terrible. I honestly wouldn't have minded if the localization team changed her personality completely (or at least to something marginally more tolerable).
Everyone says Peri's murderous personality is treated as a "cute quirk," and it totally is. In Charlotte's supports with her she's like, "It's awesome you're willing to show everyone your true self!" In her supports with Arthur, he buys her a knife (that she calls a "stabbing stick") and is just like, "Haha, there she goes! What a card!"
I also have her permanently benched, and there's no way I'm marrying her to someone. That's just cruelty.

Speaking of which, can someone shed some light on why Oboro is so popular here? Don't get me wrong--I like Oboro. Her supports--from what I've seen--don't always revolve around a single shtick, and (thank god) I don't think she's really an anime archetype. But she just seems like such a fan favorite on this forum and I can't really figure out why.

If anyone has gotten more of these comments, I'd be interested in seeing them. Um, for science.

Soleil doesn't seem like a lesbian to me, it feels like she just really, really loves being around and admiring other women
Kinda like how people in fraternities/sororities love each other a little too much
They made her attraction to women a bit more explicitly stated in the localized version. Her only romantic supports (so I've heard) are now with Forrest and M!Corrin, and when she's introduced she's clearly said to be hitting on another girl, to which Laslow says she has great taste in women and men. And in her support with Ophelia, she flat-out says she is interested in her. I think, at the very least, she's being portrayed as bisexual in the localization.
-
Does she still have that line after the body switch were she says she's gonna go back to her tent and 'admire it', because fucking hell that was one of the creepiest things I've read in a long time.
Here's the line--
"Now I don't need to chase you—I AM you! I've gotta go find a private place with a mirror! Heeheeheehee!"
The support is, um, really creepy.
-
Soleil just can't win, can she? I'm reading her support with Ophelia right now, and I'm getting those "lesbian that takes straight girls' rejections as a challenges" vibes. I guess that's what happens when you base your characters around a single gimmick.

Izana is a weirdo who breaks game immersion. Stuff like "toodles!" and "You just put a ring on Izana, girl!" make me want to facepalm. Others find him funny or charming and that's totally fine, but he's not for me.
Oh god, please tell me he doesn't actually say that. I was planning on marrying Izana once (I liked Japanese Izana), but if that actually a real thing he says, forget it.

I'm reading Mitama's supports with her mother, and I love her manner of speech.
-
I kind of like those platonic S-supports. Kind of actually gives the characters some modicum of character and preference.
Oh god, but the pickles. I actually had to pause the thing when I was listening to Hisame's lines and just reflect on life. This aspect of the localization reminds me of the folly of men.
-
Gunter sounds young but DC Douglas has a voice like butter so I can easily overlook any downfall there
I do wish that Niles and Rhajat had S-Supports that were more like the Japanese versions but ah well.
How did the Niles support change?
Edit: Just read the M!Corrin/Niles support, and it seems to stay pretty true to the Japanese version. And also contains the great line, "Just another Tuesday for lil' Niles, sadly."

Man, I'm really disappointed with Azama. When I first saw him, I thought he was going to be kind of Stahl-esque for some reason. And then I read his character was "sharp-tongued" and I was down with that. I can dig a Puckish, sarcastic character.
But no. He's just a douche. It's my fondest hope that one day, FE writers will learn not to base characters around a single gimmick.

I actually find the plot to be one of the weaker aspects of the game, so I kind of actively sought out spoilers.

Oops, wrong thread.

What if Charlotte had decent armor? Based on supports, she's probably one of my favorite characters (she's really funny), but every time I see art with her whole body I'm like, "Oh dear, why? That's so illogical. Why?" And Camilla, for that matter. Pants are so important when you're riding a scaly, flying lizard. I will always question and bemoan these terrible design choices.

What's the "letter" thing?
Also, I totally adore Percy. That's really cute, and dare I say a step-up from Lutz.
-
So apparently one of the voice actors is named Nigel Oakenshield? As in Thorin Oakenshield, son of Thrain, son of Thror?
-
What's included in the special edition? Did I blow my chance at getting it?
-
Agreed! I was really hoping Kanna and Eponine would be present as adopted children when I married my male Corrin to Niles, for no other reason than it would be adorable. But alas. I suppose not all dreams can come true...

Oh god, I just read that Matoi's localized name is Caledori. If they're so desperate to maintain the anagram thing, why not Riceload? Sky's the limit when you don't give a shit! I'd prefer they trash the anagram concept entirely and just keep a consistent atmosphere. I'm not a fan of the mixed bag of names in Hoshido.
Also Laslow sounds really freaking dumb. And while I'm at it, I'm sad they changed Eponine to Nina. Eponine is such a pretty name.
-
Yeah, I'm really not crazy about Pieri's design. The two-toned pigtails, the bangs, the bow and... neck thing? It's sensory overload.
But man, I could go on forever about my grievances with the armor and character design aspects of this game. They're not so much "little irks" as they are things I could write an entire manifesto about.

Meh, I like all the voices except for Hinoka
Tommy Picklesand Felicia, although she sounds alright if not good in-battle and I'll be playing a female so I won't have to hear much of her anyway. Otherwise I'm looking forward to the dub since I wasn't crazy about the JP voices anyway. I mean, they were good, but I'm not attached.Haha, are people getting Tommy Pickles vibes from Hinoka? When I heard the NOHRIAN SCUM line I was like, "Dang, is that Buttercup from The Powerpuff Girls?"
Oh, and Gideon Emery was pretty great as Fenris in Dragon Age II. I had no idea he voiced Gaius-- his natural English accent is so distinctive.
Do you want an avatar & S-rank supports? (Poll)
in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Posted
I like the concept of both avatars and S-rank supports. I enjoy making a custom unit and romantic interaction between characters, with the caveat that it is done well. In fact, I wouldn't be averse to characters only having a few S-rank supports (as opposed to every opposite-gender character being available) if that meant they would be better written or have more depth.
Just... no children.
