Reason according to KawadeP on livestream: Too many to list out in detail, but essentially circumstances have changed. Cipher was designed and created to fill in the gaps between releases and let players experience characters from all across the series between game releases, but Fire Emblem Heroes largely fills in that role as well now, and also events like the concerts and Expos and the release of other goods.
Another reason is that the game was made so that fans had chances to meet each other and form communities via the game and official events for the TCG. With the increasing popularity of the series in general, essentially being another FE boom right now, things have changed and it's much easier to get to know other fans via other FE-related events. Of course, there are also other reasons, but KawadeP did not specify any further.
Essentially, FE Cipher's original role as a sort of crutch to hold over between games is at its end.

IIRC Azura is the unit in Fates with the worst bed hair in the morning. Each Fates unit had their own No. 1, like Setsuna's being the most flexible person in the army?
It wasn't elaborated much even in supports, just neat trivia found in the Records Hall character profiles.

So has anyone done a no-shopping ironman run of the game? Use what the game gives you only, or if you feel merciful, allow things found in the Barracks and Event Tiles.

Promos for Comiket 93
Spoiler(I'm seeing a lot of artist crossover with Heroes)
Other promos:
SpoilerMycen's card is drawn by the Nintendo employee who originally drew Gaiden's boxart, and is meant to be Mycen while he was still in the Rigelian army.

I came back to this thread after playing Echoes...
I did like Echoes, but having actual map design in Fates was nice. Also, a variety of different music tracks (I get that Echoes was a remake).
I also think there's room for 'anime'-y characters and more subdued characters to exist... I really liked the cast here, even if the range and amount meant that most were benched.

So I stuck a fork into Mathilda's forehead (she might be dying now, not sure) and now she's muttering her words in a countryside accent....
Okay, joking aside, should I reclass her into a non-Cavalier line class? Gender locking really sucks in this game, coming off the freedom of Fates in terms of gender locked stuff. Can't believe that Cavs are the only neutral class.
Also, I keep hearing that lances are the worst weapon type in the game... Why?

I'm well aware.
I realize that as well. What I said is that it's a bit disappointing there aren't more maps like that announced, or challenge maps to take advantage of the four tier classes. I don't mean to come off as prickly, but I'm not sure why you're quoting me here.
They seem to have a lot of DLC planned but I'm not sure it's worth the money.Nah its nothing really.
I just thought you meant that you were disappointed that the DLCs featured the same characters without knowing that it was a continuous story.

I've played the game since JP release and I might be getting burned out but lately all the BS in this game is starting to stand out.

What exactly are those extra classes for? Just chapter 6? I feel like they must have a challenge DLC in the works to validate such a purchase.
Honestly I'm a little disappointed in what they seem to be offering so far. I'm done with the game, and while some talks between the Deliverance members would be nice, there are just too many of them I'm not invested in at all. I feel like they should've split it up better, like giving one map to Valbar and his lads, one to Boey, Mae and Genny, etc.The DLC quests with preset characters is a set, continuous story like the ones in Awakening/if. That's why Fernand is an ally.
The only difference is that this is a prologue to Ch1 of the main game detailing what the knights of Zofia were up to just before Lukas went to find Mycen, instead of some alternate history.
I assume there will be 1-2 more sets of maps like this as well.

Okay.... Looks like I'm getting Sonia then, because screw desert maps.
-
Do I need to talk to Sonia/Dean to recruit either of them?
Also, where the heck are the whitewing sisters? They joined as Npcs for one battle then... Celica left. They still haven't joined my team yet, and I'm assaulting Geese's fortress.
(Also Geese sounds like a reference to SNK's famous mob boss.)
Edit: Okay, so I couldn't talk to Dean....so I tried killing him with Celica to maybe trigger a flag or something... Well, he just... Died.
Don't tell me I gotta keep him (with his OP sword except against Balbo) alive and defeat everyone else?!

I think it's just Faye and Kliff.
Celica does have special dialogue with Silque, Forsyth and Python, but none of them join.
Does Silque say anything about the crew that saved her but left her knocked out all alone in a dungeon? XD

Kliff and Faye. Tobin and Gray are mandatory for Alm's route.
Ah no, I should have reworded that. I meant if all recruitable characters could be recruited by the other side's team, and not just Faye and Kliff (who knew Celica personally).

You can recruit them later on Celica's team.
All villagers? (Not just Ram Village villagers?)

Doesn't seem that way.
Don't think so, and they just sit there until you go back and get them, as far as I've seen.
...Is there a reason NOT to recruit them then? lol
-
Are villagers/recruitable people permanently lost if you don't recruit them?
I've chosen to recruit all of them so far including Python and Genny as well, but what happens if you leave them?
-
Thank goodness for this topic. I hope Noizi Ito designs a few more characters.

NOOOOO. Sages look like absolute CRAP. WHY DO THEY ALWAYS WEAR DRESSES?!?!
Don't get me wrong, this game still looks amazing, I think my only gripes with it will be some aesthetic choices (no portrait changes upon promotion, bad sage designs, etc.).
Looks like I'll be relying on female casters this game then...
How would that even be feasible when you can class change into anything? Even Awakening didn't do that.
Also, Catria looks really nice. And finally, A G-DAMN USE FOR MY ROY AMIIBO YES

Well, I'd personally like to call the expansion of dungeon exploration, the added characters, the added prologue, the added cutscenes, the added story and worldbuilding elements, the added depth of equippable items (all food/weapon/accessory), the tweaking of minor stats and unit positions and even some additional enemy units here and there all other changes made since Gaiden, but sure, why not.
Should have clarified as 'game mechanics-wise'
-
Er so... no changes from Gaiden except for a seemingly limited support system?

I'm just waiting for GFAQs to be filled with scrubs whining about how terrible everyone's stats are and how they love Awakening and Fates more because big shiny numbers.
....Seriously?

Despite my reservations it seems I can't stop myself from getting hyped for another FE game.
-
How do you choose a defense team for arena? Just the one you leave the game on? Or first leftmost team?
FE Cipher is ending

I can't imagine what card makers are feeling right now, it must be terrible. At least IS wasn't a card game maker in the first place, and it was only a side thing.
