  1. Its a bit of a huge toss-up, because everyone (except FE7, which I didn't play) had some good points. Alan/Lance: Again, a pair of units you really need to make FE6 more bearable. Bonus points for being the few ax-wielders that actually have accuracy. I was also quite interested in how they act and react due to their social standing in the army, as well as their contrast of hot-blooded/calm-headed nature. Marcus: Despite being a Jegan archetype, he's actually useful as an early emergency backup. Treck: Don't know in terms of gameplay, but his not-so-serious nature really made me laugh. Kyle/Forde: The interaction between them in their support conversation is hilarious in C/B...and quite sad in A. Kyle/Ephraim is another golden moment where the humor is well-carried out, and the conversation as a whole also has actual character development.
  2. Lilina wins my vote. Being RNG-blessed in Speed, and being one of the few units in FE6 which Skill doesn't matter as much, as anima tomes have high accuracy in the first place: advance to first base. An initially somewhat naïve character yet who faces her family tragedy with resilience: advance to second base. Adorable chemistry with Roy: Skip third base! It's a home run! Really, she's up there with Caeda (Akaneia games), Misty (Pokémon anime), Kris/Rosa/Serena (Pokémon games), Paula (Earthbound), and Zelda (since Twilight Princess) as my favourite heroine in the Nintendo franchise.
  3. Dieck. His conversation with Clarine was priceless - especially the B-Level Support!!! Dieck "Fine. Well, Miss Clarine, I don't really approve of girls going around chasing after guys' asses." Clarine "What!? You have such a foul mouth...!" Dieck "Exactly. You don't want to be around someone like me, now, do you?"
  4. It's a two way tie between Fir and Rutger. You'd really need at least one of them if you don't want your ass handed over in your FE6 playthrough.
  5. Are we talking about a situation where an Anglo-Japanese Alliance did not occur? Or is it one that the Alliance was not renewed in 1905 and instead, abandoned well before 1914? If that Alliance is as per real-life, then I doubt that Japan would absolve itself from participating in World War I. (Though an alliance certainly didn't stop real-life Italy from turning against the Central Powers.)
  6. So is this some sort of a personality cult seen with the Kim regime in real-life North Korea mixed with a really twisted religious extremism seen in real-life Al-Queda/ISIS? Desparate times comes with desperate measures indeed.
  7. Do we also take into consideration the difficulty in grinding/babying as well? For example, Est in Shadow Dragon also arrives late. However, in both my Normal and Hard 1 runs, I took the time to grind her levels through the arena, which happens to be easier overall due to in-chapter saves, and also perhaps the arena opponents don't seem to be as overpowered compared to arenas in earlier chapters. As a result she was a Level 5-10 Wyvern Knight in the final chapter. I also raised Ewan into a Summoner in Sacred Stones as part of my main party as his was even easier to level grind due to Tower of Valni (and he also doesn't have such bad luck as Knoll). In contrast, I benched Sophia in Binding Blade the entire time due to her crippling accuracy and speed issues (both from low Skill/Speed and the very nature of Shaman and Druids), which rules out arena grinding, let alone grinding levels in the main game.
  8. *huff puff* Alright, just got back from Cuba. Man those pesky customs officers are a hassle! Here is a packet of Havannian Cigars for your correct answer. *Hands over a packet of cigars* Right. Back to my smuggling. *Shoots off*

  9. Pokémon BW 1 and 2. Pros: - Good storyline that discusses some of the issues of opinions under a democratic society - y'know, like the US. - The fact that GF decided to give overseas regions a try. If it wasn't for this, then XY (being my favourite besides GSC) would probably not have happened. - The fact that it's one of the few games that actually brings closure to characters besides the main ones. Cons: - The experience scaling and the lack of old Pokémon to rely on as an emergency in BW1. Both (although more the former) makes the game's difficulty feel cheap-ass. It also doesn't have the in-universe justification once you get to post-ending, and also in BW2. - ...Why the hell did Nintendo decide to pull the plug on the DS Wi-Fi?! I expected Nintendo (who owns Pokémon along with GF, and it's a flagship franchise too) to keep supporting the DS for another few to several years even after the move to 3DS - considering it's good ongoing support in previous generations. Trying to get through the main game in Black 1 and finish the Unova Pokedex against an actual time limit was so frustrating! Now that was a really big "F*** you, Nintendo!" moment.
  10. Well, I only have a 3DS. And Mystery of the Emblem is the only game I want to play that is both (partially) region-locked and need to be imported, and I need to spend another Australian $50 for a DS just to operate a single DS game that's region locked, and...well...I can't see how it's worth doing that. And on a more fundamental level, there's no good reason why Nintendo couldn't keep its handhelds region-free like the old days (everything before DSi).
  11. Hahahaha. Well, looks like some things do not change, do they? I wonder if our alter egos would be playing the same Fire Emblem games as our real-life selves do.
  12. Is there going to be a Khrushchev equivalent in the USSA? Would there be a similar development to the Denounciation to Stalin? As for Hawaii, does it have a similar constitutional monarchy to real-life Japan/UK? Or is it a variation of?
  13. You know what also would be good? (From Binding Blade) I'll give you a Havanian cigar if you know which Pokémon media and characters this is based on.
  14. Here is my team that I used when I last played Binding Blade in Normal Mode. (I gave up on Hard Mode.) Roy (of course) Marcus: Meat shield/decoy until Percival comes. Alen/Lance: Two good knights that are generally well balanced. The former focuses more on Strength, while the latter focuses on Speed and Skill. Also two ax-users (when promoted) that actually have decent accuracy. Elen: I just abused her staff to feed her EXP. Dieck: Compared to Alen/Lance, my impression was "trade off movement and lance-using ability for better stats". Also another ax-user (as a Hero) that also can actually hit. Thany/Shanna: More of a niche unit in that I armed her with a sword against Berserkers, and also sent her after mages (both which Milady had troubles with). She can also be a dodge tank if you're not going through Sacae. Clarine: Also another dodge tank once you get her going. Rutger: He unfortunately died in my playthrough, but he would have been another good dodge tank as well. Sue: See Clarine. Lilina: Mages were probably the only classes where dodge and accuracy weren't a huge issue. Plus, Lilina gets early support bonuses from Roy. Fir: As Rutger died, it was Fir for me, and she is worth babying. Shin: As Brucknerian said. Ray: Out of all Druids, Ray was the only one that I could reliably send into battle. Milady: A flying fortress basically, but I'll be careful of her lackluster Avoid - she was worn down surprisingly easily because of this. Also don't send her into a bunch of Berserkers unless if you want her slaughtered with a critical hit. Particularly this I've learnt the hard way. Percival: Generally high base stats. Just be mindful of his slightly iffy Skill.
  15. That's what I thought too, about the franchise in general. And also babying units but that's for another day. Binding Blade being my very first game in FE, I assumed that Roy's late promotion was the norm of Lords in the franchise. It actually felt rewarding when I finally promoted him after the end of Chapter 21, partly because of the sheer difficulty of that Chapter, and also the feel you get when you've been given an amazing superweapon at the end of an action movie and can go "Ooooohhhhh yeah, let's go kick some ass!". I would appreciate it if his level cap was 30, though.
  16. I wonder why is the British/Australian English-language version always have to be released simultaneously with the other European languages, and not, like a month later from the North American version. Ditto with Spanish and French not being fast-tracked when if we take into account Mexico/Central & South America and Canada respectively.
  17. Well, in that case, "Thanks for screwing up my previous two runs, Xane!" *steal's Marth's Falchion and stabs at Xane*
  18. Out of what I played: Shadow Dragon DS, Binding Blade, Sacred Stones, and Awakening The best would be Rutger, due to his top-notch accuracy and his near-guaranteed avoid against axes, essentially making him a tank that avoids enemy attacks instead of withstanding them. (Even for lances-using enemies, it was often 20% hit rates against Rutger, and sometimes as low as 10%.) I think he also has a good backstory as well, shown in his support conversation with Dieck. A close second would be Fir, whose only shortcoming would be joining time - and even that needed babying got more than paid off in my two runs. Having one of them is genuinely helpful in Binding Blade due to worse accuracy issues that effectively rules out most ax-users, and the higher general difficulty compared to other games. Karel's a fairly distant third, because his joining time is way behind most, and you probably already have a number of powerhouses at that stage anyway. Joshua, Marisa, Lonqu, and Birthright!Ryoma all have the advantage of being in easier games than Binding Blade, so I don't put them in regard as high as Rutger/Fir either. The worst would be Navarre. Speed and skill that isn't much higher than Ogma, with much lower defense. His avoid being unreliable unlike in the other games, which diminish his usefulness as an avoid tank. (A couple of ax using enemies had hit rates as high as 60% against Navarre, which is just simply unthinkable if this was Binding Blade.) Furthermore, he lacks avoid/critical hit bonus upon promotion.
  19. It looks like the battle animations chews up the memory processing. I've just tried Chapter 16 and 17 without the animation, and it worked perfectly fine. So, yes, thank you. :-) It's kind of annoying, though, considering that with the animation off, the result damage and hit chance are not as obvious. :-(
  20. Animations are on, and I keep all animation on, though I skip some of the enemy battles if I am sure that I'll be safe by pressing start.
  21. So I was in the middle of Chapter 16 in Shadow Dragon. And the game just froze on me twice, both while I was in the middle of battling enemy units. Has anyone else have this problem? In both cases this was after recruiting Xane. Just for the record, the cartridge is American, while the 3DS is Australian.
  22. I wouldn't be too annoyed about it if it weren't for the fact that it's region locked. At least couldn't they make it all regions if they decided not to release a Nintendo game?
  23. Being a native Japanese speaker, I'll have no problem with any of the entries. I've only played Binding Blade in Japanese, but that was because I was in middle school living with my family in Tokyo. Sacred Stones, Awakening, and Shadow Dragon DS, I played in English, as I already moved to Australia by that time. However, I played with the voices set to Japanese for my Australian Awakening, and it was interesting to see some of the Woolseyism (for a lack of a better word outside TV Tropes) between the English captions and the Japanese voices.
  24. Imhullu kind of sounds like Chthullu to me. Quite demonic.
  25. Ah, is there going to be another assassination attempt like Real-life Sarajevo? And this time, the US President's getting killed?
