  1. Rhea and Edelgard can be evil, but they are really just deliciously grey moral characters. They are both huge authoritarians and will snuff out anyone who gets in their way.

In Rhea’s case though, she was almost a child just longing for her mother, her mother was everything to her. This blinded her and she didn’t care about others, in fact they became playthings to her. She executed people without a trial, she performed human experiments (no better than those who performed experiments on Edelgard one could argue), and oppressed mankind as a means to an end. Yet I can’t hate her, because for those close to her, I believe she truly cares. No matter how ruthless or cruel a ruler is, there is always a little bit of good in them.

That being said, I would be more inclined to side with Edelgard over Rhea. While Edelgard can be just as authoritarian as Rhea, she has seen the horrors of being oppressed and I don’t think she would unduly oppress her innocent citizens. She instead eliminates the nobility and institutes a meritocracy, a huge step towards making the world better. She’s not perfect by any means, I have a lot of things I don’t like about her. Again though, between the two, I think she has the edge.

next is the Blue Lions for me, I wonder if my perspective will change. Will be fun to find out!

  2. Okay, then you have to prove that training Mozume (which would mean lifting EXP from others) will make Nohr end-game significantly easier than not, and as to why not using her would make it "harder in the longer run". And I mean practically, not just stats and skills in theory. Contrary to popular belief, there are more hard-hitting units on Nohr than just the usual Kamui, Camilla, Effie, Marx etc.; due to the existence of Attack Stance, Guard Stance bonuses or special weapons, which are low investments or even free.

And I'm not even debating against Mozume's potential here, what I don't see is the difference between a run utilizing Mozume and one that doesn't, which seems to be what you're trying to argue for.

So... Hope no one minds me doing this, but I want a tier list. (If there is one I missed I apologize in advance :D). Anyways, I would argue Mozu is very useful In Nohr. Bear in mind I've yet to play lunatic Nohr, but in hard she's more than payed off. Get her as many kills as you can in her opening chapter and level wise she won't be much lower than your other characters. Feed her some more kills in the other chapters, not everything mind you (have to keep the others like Effie up to), and she can be an Archer with villagers lvl 10 ability in ch. 10. I don't need to explain how useful that is, not to mention with aptitude she can be one of your stronger units at that time. Keep raising her and once you get the killer bow she'll have 50% crit chance easy. Later on in the game that will be VERY useful for raising lower units, as you can use dual attack stance and it will be a 1/2 chance of 1 RKOing units they couldn't otherwise kill. You can quickly eliminate clusters that would otherwise be risky to kjust charge in and kill. Not to mention she can 1 shot bosses/units that would be very troublesome.

Maybe this is best posted elsewhere? Please send me in the right direction if so :)

  3. I just so happen to have bought a new fire emblem ninty 3ds. From what the nice VincentASM says any new 3ds will do? I've never used a hacked rom so I don't know what to do or if I need to buy anything, but I don't mind helping. Idk what Vincent is even talking about though. I am still on my first conquest play through, as soon as I've beaten it I intend to start a conquest lunatic run and Hoshido hard run (to vent my conquest frustrations :) ). If I can help then please let me know.

  4. By choosing Nohr over Hoshido it means you value family as a concept of bonds and love over family as a concept of blood. You clearly have no bonds or love with Garon. I mean, it's even said he wouldn't hesitate to kill any of his children if they disobeyed him.

You're right, bonds and love, but that's what makes them your family. No matter how far you fall, family is the only thing that will still be there for you. You know as well as I at this point that

the only reason his children listen to humid because he rules out of fear. Still, they don't seem to be afraid to defy him, as Leo showed us. I might be wrong, but I think there is still more to it. We never met the real king, all we've seen is the corrupt one. We don't know how he was like before, the corruption may have even started when he kidnapped Corrin as a child. It might be his children don't gather everyone who wants to put him down together and overthrow him because they still have some love for him. This might also apply to Corrin, or at least Corrin doesn't want to kill him because he doesn't want to break the bond his brothers and sisters are trying so desperately to keep intact. To do so he's willing to slaughter and start a war, walk the very path of evil itself. Atleast on the surface, I bet he's still going to be merciful throughout the game :P. Of course, we'll see if that is the case as the story progresses. I know this is all a stretch, but hey, I'm trying XD

  5. I got the impression that by revealing his true form it meant it would return him back to normal rather than just showing the demon inside of him. If that were the case, it wouldn't really make sense as Corrin has said several times how he's against all this fighting and bloodshed, so would he really sacrifice a bunch of Hoshidian lives just so he can kill some more? Plus Corrin and his siblings seem to pretty close and understanding, and they all recognize how corrupt Garon is, Corrin has been trustworthy so far so if he just told him what was going on they'd most likely believe him and aid him. I know he can't talk about that other world, but he doesn't have to explain how he knows this. Or it could even be said that he knows because of the way he reacted to Azura's song, which it's suggest that the only reason he was hurt by it was because he's a demon.

Tbh what you're saying makes more sense. From your point of view I can offer one good reason as to why Corrin is doing this. The theme of Nohr is family, family above all else. Exactly how far is he willing to go to save someone he loves, even if that someone has become this corrupted. I might have just misunderstood what they were saying :P.

  6. King Garon is being controlled by a demon and has been this whole time. The only way to heal him is for him to sit on Hoshido throne as it will restore his true mind. And of course, the only way to get him on the throne is to conquer Hoshido. Corriin then gives this quote: "... My happiness is a small price to pay for the good of the whole world. I will continue to fight for Nohr and follow my father's every command. If I must sacrifice my soul and walk the path of evil to end this war, so be it. Even if no one understands why I'm doing this... Even if they grow to hate me..." I don't understand this at all, he'd rather kill dozens of innocents and directly attack his family just to save his father who, depending on how long he'd been possessed, Corrin might not even know. This is stupid, why doesn't he just kill King Garon? We have seen everyone who would inherit the throne, so we know Nohr would be in good hands. Is he somehow too powerful for even our whole army working together to be unable to kill? Because if so, why isn't he fighting this war himself? And you can't say he's so heavily guarded because you're invited to see him alone quite often. Perhaps there could be guards there, but even then, your siblings can help too. Also, why would the demon want to conquer Hoshido if sitting on the throne will make him go away? Also, even if King Garon is restored, it doesn't make all the tensions go away, many many will still hate him and you and your whole country at this point. There is no way to justify your army's skirmishes now. You should be fighting against him, not for him.

If this stuff is explained later or in other stories then I'd appreciate it being spoiler tagged as I want to see it firsthand for myself, but as it stands, I just don't get it...

I'm about where you are. I was wondering about this to, but I was under the impression that they were going to bring him to that throne to reveal his true form to his siblings. After that they were going to kill him. From what I'm gathering, the king might be too strong to kill and Corrin might also be afraid to kill him because his siblings may not understand. Not the best reason on the world to not go kill the king, I know, but we're not Corrin. Personally I would just go kill the king and show my siblings his rotted demon corpse. Btw I hope this spoiler tag works, I've never used one before, just copied what it said in the quote box above :P

So there's my thoughts on it.

  7. So, I didn't read much, I'm playing through conquest hard myself atm, on chapter 17. My only regret thus far is that I didn't get mozu up sooner and swap her to archer. If I had, then I probably wouldn't have let Nyx die in chapter 10 (I'm sorry Nyx, I was just so tired of that chapter T.T). Aside from MU X Camilla the only other unit ice married thus far is Silas and Effie. Effie is probably one of my best units, I do feel like she overshadows Silas though. Aside from that I haven't been overly impressed with mages (aside from Leo) and mercenaries (Selena) have been a bit dissapointing. Archers, suprisingly, have been really good in Fates. It makes me happy that they're viable, and not some Sue like characters. I would say save your money for killing weapons,I just got access and they're great.

This is from what I've experienced in the little bit I've played. I want my first run through of Hoshido/Nohr to be free from the influence of others, so I haven't read much here at all. Once I get serious and tackle lunatic, then I might take a peek at any tier lists or the like for both games :). I hope there was something in here that helped you out!

  8. It's the best thing in the world to wake up in the morning, check order status, and see "out for delivery." All the fears just melt away.

I remember that feeling. I had it once when I was getting an order from Amazon. Then they messed up, the order never arrived. I contacted amazons customer service, but they were out of stock. I lost my special edition that day, all I got was a stupid refund. It's never over until the order is in your hands.

  9. I wanted to see how different characters reacted to it. I'm disappointed it's gone. The removal of this has caused so much gross behavior by both sides wherever this game is discussed. They should have just left it in.

My feeling exactly. Thing is though, it's not so bad since you can still wake up your spouse. If anything, since it's now reserved for your spouse only, it makes the feature feel a bit more "special"? So I'm okay with it, but I would have definitely preferred being able to see everyone's reactions when you pet them.

  10. I have an old 3DS from 2012 and it accepted a normal sized 32GB SD card without any issues.

I didn't even know there could be issues, so I'm glad I didn't get anything larger.

Before this I had a 2GB card where I had to switch out what I had on it, so just adding Fates on the 32GB card feels like nothing.

Same, I have a 3ds XL, it took a 32 GB card no problem. I am getting the fates New 3ds though, I guess it's good to know I can't just stick a 32 gb card in it.
  11. I hear that Walmart Canada most likely not be getting in stores unfortunately. I know someone who works at Walmart and they checked the list of shipments they're expecting on the 19th and only Birthright and Conquest were on it, not the SE :c

So, it's EBGames or Best Buy for me.

That sucks, I hope ours is getting the SE in. Regardless I wish you good luck in your hunt!

  12. Hahaha, I pre-ordered Birthright on Amazon too just in case. I've been calling and messaging a bunch of smaller video game stores in my city and they've been saying the same "We're not sure if we'll get any, but we will let you know of any changes." or "Call back on the day it comes out and if we have one, we'll set it aside for you."

The best bet might be Walmart. I have a friend who got a special edition game from there once. He said they didn't have it out front, but they were in a box in the back. He said he had to ask them to go back there and get it, and he managed to snag the special edition on the day of release.

So I'll probably try there first, then GameStop, then Best Buy, then I'll probably give up at that point and get conquest because I don't want to waste my day off not playing fire emblem.

  13. Lmao I'm paranoid of actually missing the opportunity to get my hands on one.

I've already missed over 3 opportunities because of my god awful timing.

I'm clearly not fated for the SE.

    IF only.

Me and you both. I've taken the release day off, so I'm going to see if I can get lucky with it. If not, then I'll just get Nohr and call it good. If that fails, I have a Hoshido pre order from Amazon coming anyways :P

  14. "Moral of the story is: don't tackle things underleveled."

More like don't position your units like a buffoon, this IS really painful to to watch, lol. Scarlet and Hinoka both get murdered by archers, Saizou and Sophie get sent to die, and Takumi gets boxed in all alone immediately. Holy how, the cringing is real, lol.

Oh well, the information is appreciated.

Holy how, I don't want to watch because spoilers, but man you're making it hard. I want to watch so bad now. Is it wrong of me to want to watch someone get slaughtered in fire emblem? For some reason it makes me feel fluffy and warm on the inside. =)

Edit: holy how, sorry delfino :P

  15. Conquest is harder(Normal mode being comparable to Birthright hard mode)and has more varied maps and mission types, and you can't grind for money/exp without DLC. Birthright is easier, you can grind for money/exp without DLC, and while the maps are still varied IIRC the mission types aren't as much. Revelations is a middle ground between the two. I don't know the specifics though.

Alright. I'm really going to enjoy conquest then :) I can't wait!!
