  1. I got a question about a dragon unit I have. So, I have Ignis as the special move, but it has a charge count of 4. If I put on Lighting Breath+, it now has a charge count of 5. If I use Special Fighter on this unit, would the rebound go as follows in Enemy Phase ("O" represents me attacking, "X" represents them attacking, "S" means special is ready):

    5 X 3 O 1 X S O 5

Would I be able to use Ignis with Lightning Breath+ and guarantee a one-round special with it, even with Lightning Breath+, since my unit has low speed and could make use of the authority of Special Fighter.

EDIT: Never mind, I just realized Special Fighter doesn't inherit the quirk of Bold or Vengeful Fighter by guaranteeing follow-ups. That was a dumb question.

  2. 1. Lol. There's a lot more you can do, if you just read up a bit.

3a. You're new to the hacking scene, aren't you? Using browserhax will only get you into the Homebrew launcher (from which installing Menuhax is recommended, also just another entry point into Homebrew.) From there, you can use HANS to patch a physical copy of the game you have inserted. (We do NOT support piracy and won't tell you how either). And as it is, using HANS is exactly designed to patch a physical copy of If. You have to repatch it everytime. I'm not sure if HANS can patch a game loaded from Sky3DS, though. (You're seriously suggesting piracy and we don't stand for that).

3b. What are you even trying to say, lol. We're patching Fates with whatever lost content there was. And what do you mean, you have to get If to patch DLC? (Why would you even get the DLC if you didn't have If?) And you technically CAN access the Japanese eShop on a NA 3DS, but it requires a lot more in-depth hacking that your 3DS doesn't support and you clearly don't seem to have the skills to do so yet.

    1. Yeah, well...I did just get it :T

3a. Huh, I don't mean to be offensive here, but isn't this whole thread in a pretty legal gray area as it is?

3b. I should've phrased it better, especially since I forget a new person replies to me every time. But, also, I phrased it pretty badly in general, too. What I mean is:

    - If Fates does receive a restoration patch of lost content (Amie, cut scenes, etc.) will it still allow for DLC to be added to the game?

That is the jest of what I meant to say. And, I'm not new to the hacking in general, but to the 3DS scene in paricular. I have changed up my Wii U so much that it can easily do a bunch of things that it should have never been able to do, such as using GameCube controllers on other games and the Pro Controller on Wii Mode. I have never failed to do a process before for any other Nintendo console either, with the exception of almost bricking the Wii U after incorrectly setting the region code.

But, given the 3DS and Wii U both only recently began seeing progress in this criteria, I am "new" in this sense, yes, so don't badger me if I sound like a (...) in some of my words. I can admit that I am new to the 3DS scene and that I am not too smart in the many ways you can hack it, but I did just pick up on it over the past month.

  3. 1. Yes, I said you can run unmodified 3DS roms with Sky3DS. You can't run a patch on a Sky3DS, as that would be a modified rom.

    3. Nope, browserhax is still working.

    1. Well, that destroys the whole reason why I got Sky3DS.

3a. So, all I have to do now is go into the Internet browser and I get English IF? It's THAT simple? Wow, I could have saved a lot more money that way. But, if you use a physical copy of IF and patch it, how does that work? Does it permanently change the game into English or does it require you load up The Homebrew Channel every time you wish to play it that way?

3b. Assuming Fates itself will not receive a patch, according to a little salt I sensed from one of the developers, does that mean DLC is inevitably gone since you'd have to get IF to patch it? Given, you can not access other region eShop channels to get to the DLC if, say, you access it on a NA handheld.

  4. 1. If you have Sky3DS why not just load Cubic Ninja onto that.

    2. Who knows, who cares? We're gonna patch Fates, not If, for this.

    3. Why would you have to unscrew the back of the system? Just use Browserhax or something and you'll be into the Homebrew launcher.

    4. Not FMV, it's a unique codec called moflex. We have a decoder right now, but not an encoder, so we can't subtitle the video and put it back in. Not to mention it MIGHT* be copyrighted content.

Sorry, I did not notice you replied to this earlier before I posted that again, cause I just noticed the "75" page number. But, to continue anyway:

    1. I can do that?

    2. No DLC for me, I guess :(

    3. Wasn't that patched with the most recent 3DS update?

    4. I do not particularly care about the English voices myself either, but I just figured that the Japanese cut-scenes wouldn't have subtitles and so I wanted to be able to at least understand those. Guess I can just use YouTube.

  5. 1. Sky3DS can be used to play unmodified ROMs, and gives you more entry points to homebrew.

    2. Yeah... it's basically a translation of the Japanese version and (hopefully this including petting) the uncensored version of Fire Emblem Fates.

    3. Once you've got homebrew and an entry point that Sky3DS becomes useless (unless you plan on using it as an entry point to homebrew every time)

    4. After reading the OP it looks like they're not working on that. Though don't quote me on that.

    1. Hmm, I see. By this point, it's cheaper than buying Cubic Ninja, though.

    2. That's really interesting. Though, if they're working on patching Fates, I wonder if it'd be easier to insert cut content into that or inserting English voices into IF.

    3. Well, loading ".3ds" files also works on Sky3DS and it has its own independent microSD slot so that you don't have to unscrew the back of the system every time. It's also a good method for the original 3DS.

    4. Someone told me that inserting the English cut-scenes (since subtitles would be impossible) and just leaving the in-game voices Japanese would not be a hard task to accomplish since it's just a matter of switching FMV files around.

  6. 1. You don't need any extra hardware beyond a 3ds, an SD card and a copy of the game to run it. Sky3ds won't do anything to help.

    2. Currently, the patch translates the script in the JP version to English. Once the NA/EU versions come out, it will be modified to work with all versions of the game, and will be able to do a variety of different things.

    3. You need to install Homebrew on your 3ds, dump your game, obtain xorpads for your game using various software and homebrews, put those into the patcher to generate a patched .romfs, and then use hans (a homebrew application) to launch your game using that as a patch. Most of it is fairly straightforward, obtaining xorpads and setting up Homebrew for the first time are the things that give the most people trouble.

    4. There may or may not be a patch to put the JP audio into the NA/EU games. However it won't be dual audio, since you won't be able to switch back and forth in game.

    1. But, isn't the purpose of Sky3DS being an easier way to use Homebrew? I thought it was acting as a separate syndicate so that you didn't have to heavily modify your 3DS. Granted, you'd still be installing stuff through it, but I thought it made the process easy.

    2. Ah, so basically it will be uncut Fire Emblem Fates? By this point, all it is bringing back that I am aware of is petting (below A rank), a few cut scenes and other things that were notably censored?

    3. Hmm, that's why I was thinking Sky3DS was easier, but I guess I was wrong.

    4. I see. What I was thinking of another option is for those that want to play the game fully uncut that they just insert all English voices and cut-scenes into IF as an alternate patch for those that want the voices in English. Is that something being worked on, or is that too hard to program?

  7. Hey, hello, is this the thread for the English patch to Fire Emblem IF? I was guided here on a different forum cause I was curious on how it all works and I have a few questions:

    1) Can I run this on Sky3DS? And if so, how?

    2) How does this patch work in general? Is it patching the Japanese copy of Fire Emblem IF or can it also patch Fire Emblem Fates for those that prefer the English voices once that game is out?

    3) How does said "patch" actually work? Is it a complex process?

    4) Is this also a restoration of Dual Audio? Specifically, the patch for Fire Emblem Fates in particular once the official localization is out?
