  1. I know that this isn't exactly appropriate for this forum but I didn't know where else I could ask this question. I joined the Serenes Forest Discord server but I am confused as to how I am supposed to use it.  I could type in messages but I have a message saying "you do not have permission to send messages on this channel."It would be nice if someone could help me out as I've never used Discord before.

Consider the Switch's portability. It would make a lot more sense to have the digital copies when you go out and about if you play undocked more often, as you are able to carry less cartridges.

Oh, I see. Makes sense. I personally prefer hard copies due to collectiblity and longevity but not everyone cares about those things.

    • Diamond and Pearl-I remember that that game had some pretty difficult sections like Mt. Coronet and Victory Road. The Gym Leaders were also pretty difficult. On the other hand when it's been a long time since I played that game and when I first played it I was younger and I was very bad at Pokemon(DP was my first pokemon game).
    • Sun and Moon-Some Totem Pokemon like Lurantis were very difficult.
    • Emerald- Don't really remember the game well but the caves were pretty difficult, especially the ones where you needed Flash.
    • Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire-Cruised through this game
    • X and Y-Mega evolution and easy gyms made this game a joke.
  3. I'll write some of my complaints with Fire Emblem games.

    • Resetting in Fire Emblem is a pain. A Mila's Turnwheel-like feature should be implemented in all future Fire Emblem games
    • Continuing with Fire Emblem, I hate the difficulty spikes that can get you stuck on a chapter. I've been stuck on Awakening chapter 19-20(don't remember exactly) and I'm not exactly looking forward to grinding.

If you want to play non Nintendo games I'd recommend Tales of Berseria, Megadimension Neptunia VII or Digimon Story Cybersleuth.

I think Tales of Berseria is a good starting point. I've been interested in that game.

    They exist. Even within Nintendo.

The Warriors Treehouse demo during E3 had Audrey gushing over her "Husbando"(Yes, she said that) Xander. Then there's the person at IGN who reviewed Echoes who knocked off points because they couldn't marry Saber as Celica. For two more, "high profile" cases of Waifu/Husbando obsession within the FE playerbase.

I'm talking about people for whom that's the main reason they play the games.

Plus maybe a hair of elitism from some veteran fans against the different demographic it brought to the series because of the waifu elements.

I also find it kinda weird how Awakening kinda caused a schism in the fan base for making FE "Waifu Emblem" when it's really Fates that cemented the mechanic  as a core part of the series.

I always hear people talking about people who play Fire Emblem for Waifus but I've never seen these people online or in real life. I think the extent of the "Waifu Emblem" phenomenon is greatly exaggerated.

Awakening, in my opinion, is just a decent FE game. Not amazing, but decent. It does well with the constant references and call backs to the older Fire Emblem games, and the Support reworked support system is just lovely, however, the plot is filled with mistakes that could be corrected if the characters had done a tiny bit of thinking, but for the most part those can be overlooked due to the cast of relatively likable characters. The issues I have with it are what it did the series as a whole personally, with putting the emphasis on the Avatar units, it allows for slightly more immersion into the series, but turned the focus into a sort of wish fulfillment series as far as the supports go, which Fates showcases the issues of. The child units in the game had a good reason to be in the game story-wise, but it was so well-received that it caused IS to poorly implement it into Fates.
The game is a good game, and was good for the series, but for older fans of the franchise like me, it seemed to have caused a small lowering in quality, or at least that is the general opinion.

Maybe I'll start seeing it's flaws once I come back to it after playing older FE games.

  8. I haven't played conquest yet but one thing I would not recommend you do is play Echoes first as it contains a lot of archaic features from Gaiden which are non-existent in more recent FE games and because of that it plays very differently. I would only recommend playing it after playing at least one of the other games you listed. This is assuming you are a complete newcomer to FE. If that is not the case then I guess it's okay to start the 3ds Fire Emblem games with Echoes.

HaHa! Me too when I started playing Pokémon, my brother chose Diamond and I chose Pearl. Even though he doesn’t play Pokémon anymore, I choose the 2 nd version out of habit.

That's crazy! Diamond and Pearl were also our first Pokemon games and the point where the tradition began. It's like we're the same person divided into different bodies.

  10. I'm kind of conflicted as to whether I should get UltraSun or UltraMoon. Traditionally I have gotten the second game in the pair while my brother got the first. In the case of Sun and Moon I got Moon. Right now I'm leaning towards getting UltraMoon because I want to continue the tradition(even though my brother sadly does not play Pokemon anymore).  On the other hand getting the "Moon" game twice in a row would be kind of boring.

I'm not too concerned with not getting Solgaleo as thankfully the game gives you multiple Lunalas so you can trade off one for a Solgaleo.

To be honest, the only reason I have for getting  UltraSun is trivial so I'm most likely going to just continue my tradition and get Pokemon UltraMoon.

From what I recall, those in Japan seem to be really enjoying it, and that's enough for me to say that it's worth buying if you have interest. I mean, you already have a decent amount of people who've tried it saying it's good.

I guess I'll buy it eventually. Only problem is I already have so many other games to buy/play lol.

I don't see any reason for them not to have skills. I think even Navarre, Oboro, Niles and Owain have placeholder skills.

If you're looking for a meaty action/time-management game, Warriors should be a good choice.

Or you could wait until the game comes out to find more reviews/impressions.

There's also Super Mario Odyssey coming out on the 27th if you don't hate 3D platformers.

An Action/time management game sounds like something I'd be interested in. I guess I'll wait and see the reviews like you said.

I'm pretty excited for SMO and will probably buy it. But the game I'm really excited for is Xenoblade Chronicles 2, unfortunately that isn't coming out for another 1 1/2 months.
