As a general rule I don't think a relocalisation is what Fates needed because most problems stem from what they were localizing. Things like the rampant Shota/Lolicon or Soleil really didn't leave the devs much other options. And the problem with Garon likely wouldn't be fixed in translating either since the main problem was that he was a bland cartoonishly evil blob in the one game that really, really shouldn't have one of those. Of course there were also examples of genuine bad choices from the localisation team such as Beruka and Saizo's infamous support.

Still from what I glance I do see plenty of favorable additions that go beyond just retranslating but adding more content that arguably should have been there. Playable Lilith, Supporters for the corrinsexuals and even more outfits for the character portrait. I may not be convinced of the need for a retranslation, but added content and context is always welcome, especially if they stem from or are inspired by the original material.

I had assumed the same at first, which is why the project was mainly intent on cleaning up the more egregious script errors and providing an addendum of sorts. But as I looked into the script more and more, I began to realize just how poorly localized the script really was. While I laud the localizers for doing what they could with the more..."unfortunate" aspects of the script, the way they changed things was (with no offense intended) fairly uninspired.

The goal of my project, therefore, is to make localization changes in the vein of Radiant Dawn, wherein things are changed using already existing material as the baseline for various changes. The changes range from fairly small, like Corrin knowing who "the mysterious songstress" was all along now, to rather large, like the child units now coming from deeprealms Anankos has already destroyed, creative a "parallel dimension" excuse of sorts, meaning the rather awkward age dynamics of various pairings can be side-stepped and altered in a less egregious manner. (Making them all adults anyways despite them obviously being underage)

  2. Hey all, I've decided to officially start a translation project for FE3. This project will use Shadow Dragon's script for book 1 to reserve the actual translation efforts for book 2.
We currently need Developers, bug testers, Translators, and team leads.
Long term and short term project goals have been written and pinned for all team members to see.

  3. Hey all, I’d like to propose a project to improve something a lot of people, myself included, typically have issues with when playing the FE GBA titles. The support system. Obtaining supports is slow and clunky, not to mention limited given both the 5 support limit and the A supports being the end of the line most of the time when it comes to exploring a character’s supports.
I think this is pretty easy to solve, all that needs to be done is use one of the more modern support systems used in GBA hacking for each of the games, and possibly provide an option beyond A supports for players who are still learning about a given character, and aren’t sure which pairing they want to commit to yet.

  4. As a part of an upcoming story rewrite patch a friend and I decided that one of the issues that needs to be fixed is the map. So he made a political map that a kind person from the 3dsFE hacking discord made into a patchable file. To instal, simply make a file in romfs named field and remove the -1 from the patch file's name. hope you all enjoy!

  5. Hi there, I've been a fire emblem fan for over five years now, and have made my way through just about every entry in the series save gaiden and the tellius games. Now, most of you know that both Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn are the two most expensive and hard to find games in the series, not to mention that I don't have a WII or a PC capable of running the dolphin emulator. What I do have, however, is a kindle fire HD, that can run SNES and GBA emulators just fine, but is having issues running Dolphin. Well, not dolphin itself, rather Path of Radiance. See, the emulator runs just fine, but for some reason I can't get it to play Path of Radiance, because all I get is a black screen. Could someone help me out with this?
