  1. Lol. I gotta say: these anecdotes of your sister playing FE16 are quite enjoyable; it's rather refreshing to consider a noob's perspective on the game. I 50/50 agree and rofl. Might be cool to include some more of the gameplay particularities too though. (e.g. strategy, map progression, epic wins/fails on the map etc.)

I had my brother play FE15 in this manner as well; it surely does make it interesting for me to see their fresh approach to a game you know so well. I was not so cruel, however, to blind him throughout the playthrough. 😛 (Which is to say: I could not stand seeing him play through it sub-optimally, regarding recruitment and items etc. so I spilled the beans)

Also, can you pay me 5 USD/h to play the game too, please?

I think they need to learn in the future that lack of a preparation menu before any chapter is unacceptable.

I really don't think it's so bad as that. I mean, sure the chapter is hell on maddening and if you've neglected the students in your starting house even more so, but it fits properly from a narrative standpoint.

Let's be honest: we've had months to prepare on hard mode before maddening even dropped; if you don't know by now that whatever you input at the start of chapter 12 decides the flow of your chapter 13, you might want to reconsider playing on maddening at all.

  3. So I just finished the Valley of Torment (chapter 15) and I never even got the option to talk to Rodrigue with anyone. I reached him well enough with Felix, but the command just did not show up. No clue what I was missing, maybe supports or something? Anyobody have an idea?

I had Felix at B-rank swords as a Grappler. And I'm playing version 1.0.2.

I thought it might show up in the post-battle event, but nah. I saved directly too out of habit, so no Sword of Moralta for me this playthrough I guess :KnollRoll:

  4. I wholeheartedly agree, I think the story arc was the best one in Fates overall. Granted, it was DLC and quite condensed, but it was also the only arc that actually made the Outrealms sensible to me. Over the course of Awakening and Fates we've seen a whole lot of messing around with the Outrealms/parallel dimensions/alternate timelines, but the way they portrayed it over here with the Birthright Hosidans meeting the Conquest Nohrians and them being manipulated into fighting each other thinking the other party is Vallite really worked for me. Way more so than the half-assed vanishing curse or anything from the main stories.

But yeah gameplay-wise I found it pretty solid as well, good thing they had the child units preset too and not some convoluted reasoning to bring your own OP units in like in The Future Past. Made for a pretty solid challenge. Maps 5-6 were my favourites too and indeed Lost in the Waves is a banger tune!

  5. Heirs of Fate because it actually knots the whole parallel/pocket dimension story mess together in a decent way and being enjoyable as a whole.

Seriously though, I just finished the whole lot of Fates and imo it goes:

    Storytelling: B>R>C

    Gameplay: R>C>B

    Difficulty: C>R>B

Characters: wat (there's lovely and awful on both sides, except Valla which i- wat)

Birthright was a breeze, but that's okay because it was nice once you got into the flow. I found the story well told and on that route things just fell into place on that front, largely typical and not so intuitive, yes, but nice all the same.

Conquest was... everything but a breeze, though that did give me a way bigger sense of accomplishment. On the story front I facepalmed so very hard up to ch.22 or so, after that I guess they tied the rest of it up rather neatly in comparison. The maps were overall more creative and I liked that, although it sometimes went too far into bs territory imo (looking at ch.10, ninja rape cave and the stairway in particular). This route I enjoyed being done with the most lol.

Revelation was probably my favourite. All the cast together for your army, except a few I guess but that's where the unit logbook comes in. Maps were looooooooong which made it tedious at times. Story is the canon option, so I guess that works in its favour. Major points deducted for burying the biggest revelations in DLC though.

  6. Q&A topic ignores me, so I'll just copy my question in a separate topic:

I have an issue accessing my account on another device. So I broke my phone's screen and it's utterly unusable now; trying to access my save data on another device (install app>link Nintendo account at first prompt) always gives me this error saying: "Failed to link to the Nintendo Account. Please try again. If you have multiple apps open, please close all apps before trying again."

I have tried closing all other apps, clearing my browser cache, made sure I entered the same region starting up the app for the first time as on my Nintendo account, but the result never changes.

Anybody had this problem before? Any input would be appreciated!

  8. Dude, I relate so much. As soon as I unlocked Xander and Ryoma I was like, wait this has to be a thing, right?

Put it to the test; lo and behold:

    Spoiler

"Let's see that Hoshidan force!" "Understood. Let's go, Prince of Nohr!"

    or Ryoma initiates:

"Prince of Nohr, I ask for your assistance." "Then you shall have it, Prince Ryoma!"

    It's so goooooooood. :KnollRoll:

I generally don't play paired up all that much, except in Arena stages, but I was positively elated that they put in this effort.

Is the scope of this topic to post the quotes and have them compiled yet? Or is there another topic for that? Because I'm game. :B):

The thing about Zacharias/Bruno is that his iconic weapon so far is ice magic. So I could see him as a second water hero in the future if they start doubling up after covering all four elements, but giving him a different element would seem a bit odd.

Oh yeah, I totes forgot about the whole Zacharias=Bruno-but-also-maybe-not-or-maybe-we-just-playing-you-ha-ha-situation. Gonna have to read up again on that one.

Besides, on topic, I'd find it quite weird if only OCs would be legendary heroes as "Legendary Hero-King" literally has it all in the name.

  11. I could definitely see Fjorm's sister as the air hero ('cause water+air=ice if we go by Naruto rules lol).

Also, this is totally an opportunity to finally introduce us to/give us Zacharias! I'm thinking earth for him; fire will probably be a turncoat from Mispel, could very well be the first princess indeed in a kind of Guinevere twist, yup, seems legit right?

  12. I for one would like to see this in action, given that it's done properly. I'd like to see them establishing the couple and their retainers/crews at the start of the game and when the war erupts split the parties in some dramatic twist, having the early to mid-late game play out something like SoV Act 3 & 4 with their own chapters and characters/items; maybe even specific gaiden chapters depending on conditions met on the other route. Promote once they reunite for the maximum power of love. Yup, that could be a solid game indeed.

Yet another good idea which is blocked by Awakening/Fates' decision to make 100% of the playable cast romanceable by the player.

If they must include the hitching aspect of 13-14 I'd much rather they do away with convoluted timespace plot devices and child units. Have your s-supports go on a honeymoon or some final quest to prove their love to one another and encounter surprise enemies for a 2-unit gauntlet (think Conquest Ch.15) with some nice loot to boot. Hell if we get an avatar again (as I expect we will) we could have a whole new Eirika/Ephraim/Lyon dynamic with the main couple but so much better please.

Also if they must include child units do it like FE4. Or at least let it make sense.
