  1. Ideally, they would be midbattle like Megas. But, you raise a good point that most of the fusions we have so far are outside of battle and last as long as you wish. I'm thinking Evo-Fusion could have two Pokemon linked outside of battle, and when one of them is sent out in battle the other is sent out as well and they fuse on the spot, until they are recalled. A compromise between the two, distinct from "hard fusion" like what Kyurem does but still with more "permanence" than Mega Evolution. If Evo-Fusion involves linking Pokemon, then you could easily have three pairs of linked Pokemon in your party at once. For resource reasons they'd probably stick with just one fusion between two species or families. An augmentation system could be an interesting separate mechanic, though... Gloom wouldn't work at all because it doesn't evolve naturally, it requires a Leaf Stone or Sun Stone to evolve. Prevolutions only work as substitutes if they naturally evolve by level up into the final stage. Thus, a Ralts or Kirlia can substitute for a Gardevoir, but not a Gallade. Though I guess one could make an argument that midstages with no natural evolutions like Gloom could have their own fusions, but that would bloat the selection considerably, which seems unwise to me. The idea would be that every Pokemon within a regional dex would be capable of fusing with every other Pokemon in its egg group in that dex. Getting every possible fusion among all 1000+ Pokemon in a single game would be a tall order, but something closer to 200-400 Pokemon might be feasible, bearing in mind that not every species is capable of fusion and that not every Pokemon is capable of fusing with every other Pokemon. For example, there are 59 families of Field-Group Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet, not counting DLC. Using just the final evolutions, that yields...1711 possible combinations. ^^; So yeah, Evo-Fusion would probably need to be either restricted to specific pairs of Pokemon (as has been the case thus far), or they would have to feature the mechanic with a smaller-than-average Pokedex with maybe 10-20 families per Egg Group, taking into account that some Fusions would overlap more than one Egg Group, like the common pair of Field and Human-Like.
  2. Actually, Sun & Moon did introduce their own Megas, in addition to retaining the Megas from X and Y. Including, perplexingly, Diancie.
  3. The Mega Evolution symbol at the end is tantalizing. Presumably, this is a sign that Mega Evolutions are returning, but there's also vast potential for new Mega Evolutions, including some of Gen VIII and IX Pokemon. There's also a distinct chance Legends Z-A will have different starters, much like Legends Arceus, and I have a strong feeling two of those will be Snivy and Piplup, as their themes fit the region perfectly. Scorbunny could be an interesting choice for the Fire starter, repping the previous generation just as Rowlet did in Legends: Arceus. Of course they'll presumably also have regional variants of their third stage evolutions, with new secondary types.
  4. As I understand it, an Echo Fighter is one whose build and moveset are similar enough that you can use the same animation rig for both. If the moveset is similar, but the build is wildly different like in the case of Link and Toon Link, or if two characters have similar builds but few common moves, then they're not Echoes. I don't mind when moves or movesets are similar, provided it makes sense. Charizard's Flamethrower being similar to Bowser's Fire Breath makes sense, they're both breathing fire after all. Falco's moveset being similar to Fox's makes sense as they're pilots on the same team using the same resources, just each in his own way. What matters most is that the moveset fits the character and best exemplifies their abilities.
  5. I think a followup to Majora's Mask where an adult Link returns to Hyrule would be pretty compelling, too. That said, Mushroom Kingdom Warriors would be a blast. But how about Dreamland Warriors, starring Kirby and friends? Could be a great place to bring back the Beast Corps, especially fan favorite Clawroline.
  6. New Hyrule Warriors announcement, maybe? I could also see a Pokken 2 happening.
  7. According to a friend, it's Southland. So yes, turns out it was a false alarm. We're following up with LAPD to apologize. Apologies to everyone here as well. Feel free to lock the topic.
  8. Yeah, I've been told that may just be a TV show. If so, I'd like to know the name so we can follow up our report to LAPD and apologize. We certainly weren't trying to raise any false alarms.
  9. EDIT: This was a clip from Southland. False alarm. Apologies.
  10. So, we've had a few examples of Pokemon fusing together in the series thus far: Kyurem can fuse with Reshiram or Zekrom to form White Kyurem or Black Kyurem respectively, Necrozma can fuse with Solgaleo or Lunala, and Calyrex can technically combine with Glastrier or Spectrier (though that isn't really fusion so much as Cleyrex simply riding them). I was just thinking: If Game Freak is looking for a mechanic that can compete with Mega Evolutions in terms of raw excitement, how about Evo-Fusion? Evo-Fusion temporarily combines two Pokemon of the same egg group into one creature with the combined types and (to an extent) powers of the constituent Pokemon. There would be some guidelines of course: I think a lot of exciting possibilities could arise from a mechanic like this.
  11. Moxie's an interesting choice. The opponent will have to think carefully before choosing their next Pokemon, lest Mega Machamp hit it even harder. Unless it's a Ghost-type. Come to think of it...what if Mega Machamp had Scrappy? Now even Ghost-types aren't safe from its brutal attacks! I could definitely see a Mega Dragonite developing more traits in common with Dragonair, like the coloration and wing stylings. Maybe it gets a longer tail, with the blue gem orbs? Always was weird that Dragonite dropped most of its prevolutions' distinct traits in favor of looking like Charizard's cutesy cousin. Also, as an aside, fans have long joked about what Dragonite's Mega Stone would be called since most of them just add "ite" to the ends of their names. But, I think "Dragonitite" would work. Auto Fire-Spin? That's an interesting idea. Some kind of Fire Trap ability, perhaps? If they had a Grass-type binding move (and honestly, Grass should have gotten one before Fire or Water), I could see the same working for Mega Serperior. Good point, and good suggestions. I'll work with that, then. "If an opponent tries to use the same attack on the user twice in a row, it has a 50% chance to miss." Flying would work decently well as a secondary type, as Luminion learns a few Flying-type moves. Ice could also work, since it learns a few as TMs and it lives deep underwater, where it would be a lot colder. Thanks! I've been working on some of the later generation Pokemon as well. But you know, a thought ocurred to me: They introduced new Megas in ORAS, right? And should have introduced new Megas in BDSP. So, what if Gen 5 Remakes also added new Megas? After the disappointment that BDSP turned out to be, they need to regain the fans' faith with the Gen 5 remakes, and new Megas would be one good way to stir up excitement for them. I might start a document for theoretical Gen V Remake Megas, and move some of my current Megas to it. Or, I'll modify my current Megas document to cover different generations.
  12. Why not bring Tifa into Street Fighter while they're at it? She and Chun-Li are long overdue for a battle of the brawler waifus. As for other fighting games, most any Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy protagonist would fit into Soul Calibur quite nicely. For Fire Emblem, you can have a story involving one of the many Dark Dragon cults in the series getting hold of Soul Edge, prompting the FE protag to investigate. For Final Fantasy...heck, that would probably depend on which character gets in. Cloud is the most obvious candidate, though it might be tricky to justify his appearance on Earth. Gilgamesh on the other hand could easily be justified by his traveling through the Rift and by his interest in weapons, especially swords. How about a smartass suggestion: Mickey Mouse in MultiVersus. Especially Steamboat Mickey, since he's public domain now. :P On the subject of Disney, Sora would be another interesting Soul Calibur option as he's traveled to worlds set on some version of Earth many times in Kingdom Hearts, and he has a wide variety of Keychains to serve as his weapon selection with Ultima Weapon presumably being his Soul Calibur equivalent. Would be cool to see Link return to Soul Calibur, only this time it's BotW/TotK Link. He's got even more weapon options than the OoT version did.
  13. Perhaps. Maybe it could be limited to status moves aimed at the target? Stuff like Leer, Mean Look, Attract, etc. I've considered both of those options. The tricky part is that when giving Megas to Pokemon who already have quite high numbers in some stats, you want to make sure not to crank it too high. This problem hits harder further down. I guess I could give King a 50 in each attack stat? Queenly Majesty works perfectly for Nidoqueen. Gonna want to give Nidoking a Kingly counterpart of some kind. Supreme Overlord could also work, to co-opt another currently-unique ability. I've rejigged the stats so Mega Nidkoing is a mixed sweeper-defense tank and Mega Nidoqueen is a special sweeper-mixed tank. Fire-type Extremespeed is precisely why I included that ability. :D Incidentally, it originally was going to give Arcanine's Fire-type attacks increased priority, but a chat with my bro made clear that was broken, so I went for a simpler Pixilate template. Machamp is one of those cases where having an already-high Attack makes it seriously difficult to give it a focused stat gain like Arcanine or the Nidos. Iron Fist isn't a bad idea. Hmm...what about an ability that increases the power of moves with no secondary effects? Like Strength, Mega Punch, etc. Or, he could have some kind of "Power Unleashed" ability that raises Attack each turn, due to the belt being removed. Maybe an Armstrong ability that increases the power of arm moves? Fist moves would be a subcategory of those, and others could include chops, slaps, palm strikes, and throws. I'd noted that some Megas shared abilities, like Pixilate for Mega Gardevoir and Mega Altaria, and though I originally had a Draconify ability that turned Mega Dragonite's Normal-type moves Dragon, my bro pointed out that Aerilate would be preferable as no type is immune to Flying and Flying super effects more types than Dragon. Given Dragonite's connection to the sea, I'd considered something like Swift Swim. That's one possiblity. Grassy Surge is another, boosting the power of its STAB moves and healing it each turn. Incidentally, I was thinking intense heat could be another weather effect that would function as the Fire-type's equivalent to Sandstorm and Hail. Ha! Yeah, I see what you mean about Mentalize. Needs something else. Thought of a new ability for Mega Xatu: Prediction. The user remembers the last three attacks to hit it during the battle and cannot be hit by any of those attacks. In the case of multi-hit moves, the first time the move is used on Mega Xatu, it will hit as normal, but if the opponent tries to use that move on Xatu again, each hit will miss. In the case of binding moves, the recurring damage resulting from the bind will hit, though any subsequent uses of the move will fail so long as they're in the memory queue. I've tried a new build that pushes its Attack and Special Attack both to 130, and ups the Speed to 120 to boot. Fairy is an interesting choice to add. Luminion has only one attack that can take advantage of it, though. Thanks for the input!
  14. I have not yet thought up a statline, but I shall endeavor to come up with one. Thinking of changing Chesnaught's Megas around, and swapping Ground for Rock. I'm also thinking the Megas can just change their second type rather than grant a third. @Shanty Pete's 1st Mate I started a Google doc for new Megas, not just for the starters but for XY remakes as a whole. Think I'll retool this topic to cover Gen VI remake Megas in general. Or should I start a new one? https://docs.google.com/document/d/1V4QEhefSQPnGuSjzu9qi0mDEqqzAGoC_ths9luckV_g/edit?usp=drivesdk
  15. The previous fighter moveset thread hasn't been posted in for over 2 years now, so I'm starting a new one as further posts in the old one will just cause it to get locked. To give this topic a little extra, you can also suggest stages, music, spirit boards, classic mode, etc. Geno (WIP)
  16. Thanks! Funnily enough, the Wario series does in fact have a femme fatale in the form of Captain Syrup, and also has had a couple princesses who are a lot more like Peach in personality, Shokora and Merelda. But we haven't seen many "femme fatale princesses" in video gaming, so a character that combines the two would be quite novel. Speaking of Syrup, she would actually make a lot of sense as a Wario-associated counterpart to Peach. She's worked with Wario for her own gain before, wouldn't be hard to imagine her recruiting him and Waluigi to help her win/steal the prize of a sports tourney or some such. She'd also be a fun character to add to the Kart and Party series. Shoot, I could see Syrup getting her own series, just as Wario got his. Shake It! established that Syrup is willing to do heroics for reward, so a game starring her could follow through on that.
  17. I think that design is cute, but ironically too far removed from Peach in attire. Wario and Waluigi both wear similar clothes to Mario and Luigi, just with different colors and fitted to their physiques. Way I see it, Wapeach doesn't need to look ugly, just exaggerated. Take Peach's traits and turn them up a little, you know? Incidentally, I made my own version: https://www.deviantart.com/crossfire7/art/Wapeach-Crossfire7-Version-999290276
  18. Reminds me of that "Paper Zelda" video I saw a while back. Would be interesting to see other IPs get the Paper treatment, like Zelda, Kirby, and heck, why not Fire Emblem.
  19. I'm none too excited by the "live action" part. Zelda's perfect for an animated film or TV series, I'd rather that than live action.
  20. Ah. Well, it could be a Poison-type variant of Yawn.
  21. Got another one. Sleep Gas Type: Poison Category: Status PP: 10 Power: — Accuracy: 90% Description: The target is sedated by sleep-inducing gas. This would be to Poison Gas what Sleep Powder is to Poison Powder.
  22. I don't think a mask for them would be necessary, as they would presumably already be immune to the sickness if not the sickness itself. I could however see them resembling a virus in form, with little spheres around their bodies. Though that might be hitting a bit close to home for the modern day. So, perhaps white versions emitting a noxious fog said to inflict colds on those who breathe it in? Or it could even simply be a cold version of Koffing and Weezing that appears in icy climates. Alternatively, my brother suggested Pokemon called Sniffling and Sneezing, which would be similar-but-different in a manner not unlike Diglett/Wiglett and Tentacool/Toedscool, though they were complete type changes while this would still retain the Poison-type. At any rate, I can definitely see the value of adding Ice to the movepool. In fact, I'm thinking of drafting up a potential learnset... Cold Koffing Base stats nearly the same as Koffing, but with Attack and Special Attack swapped. Learnset 1: Poison Gas 1: Tackle 4: Smog 8: Mist 12: Icy Wind 16: Avalanche 20: Frost Breath 24: Haze 28: Self-Destruct 32: Ice Beam 36: Toxic 40: Blizzard 44: Explosion 48: Memento 52: Destiny Bond Cold Weezing Learnset (evolves at level 35, so learned moves before that level are the same as Koffing) 38: Toxic 44: Blizzard 50: Explosion 56: Memento 62: Destiny Bond 68: Hail
