Maybe if you had a mercenary system where you could have taverns and can pay to use special units for a certain amount of time.

That is an interesting idea, I'll probably do it as a pay per turn thing. (Pay X gold at the beginning of each turn to use the unit)

  2. I've finally came up with a name for the game, as well as those stat changes I promised. If any of Y'all want a PDF copy of the rule book, just PM me, and I'll send it to you.

    Title:

    Spoiler

    Fire Emblem: In Tabula Ludum

    Stat Changes:

    Spoiler

    Lord: HP: 20 Pow: 5 Skl: 6 Spd: 7 Def: 4 Res: 0 Mov: 5

I decided to give the Lord set stats instead of the more unsure method I had earlier, just to make sure that games didn't end too quickly because somebody got an extremely over/underpowered Lord unit.

    Knight: HP: 20  Pow: 5 Skl: 2 Spd: 0 Def: 4 Res: 0 Mov: 4

    Cavalier: HP: 20  Pow: 5 Skl: 2 Spd: 5 Def: 3 Res: 0 Mov: 7

A heads up, people will call your favorite game bad & what not along with your favorite characters. It's saltminebut Serene Forest is eons better than most forums out there. You'll find most people here very helpful,

While this is true for some cases, I've personally had no run-ins with these people. Most people here are very kind and helpful, as said.

if someone is rude, they probably won't be on the forums for much longer.

  4. I have been working on an unannounced project, and I have put in a battle animation I found online, but the colors are really screwed up and I do not know what to do. Please help.

Nevermind; It turns out I was looking in the wrong plcae to fix it!

So at the beginning (and mostly consistently if we are to assume everyone will be leveling up as the game keeps on going), nobody will be able to lay a finger on the Knight and Cavalier units, not even the same type of unit :>_<: since their Pow is less than their Def. The only units that could do damage to them would be Mage, Shaman and Cleric, but they would barely scratch their armors when they can only make so little damage, and they would get killed by these very same Knight and Cavalier units before doing anything else. They can also double on the knight for little damage still, and definitely not double on the Cavalier

Hmm... I used base class stats from FE8 to make these. I understand what You're saying though. I'll lower the defense on both of these units to make them less overpowered! Thanks for pointing that out.

So. As the title says, I have been thinking about making a Fire Emblem Board Game. I feel Fire Emblem would translate excellently into a board game format. I'd also like to use it to get people interested in the franchise.

    Board(s):

    A 20x20 grid of 2"x2" squares.

Different terrains (Mountains, Forests, etc.) depending on the map

3 different maps with different layouts

    Rules and stuff:

Depending on how many people are playing, (up to four), you get a set amount of units:

    2 players: 2 teams of 10 units

    3 players: 3 teams of 6 units

    4 players: 4 teams of 5 units

    Stats:

Each unit, except the "Lord" unit, would have set stats. Players would role a die (six-sided), and the highest roller picks their first unit, and they go in a circle picking units until all unit quotas are filled.

The "Lord" unit's base stats would be determined by a six sided dice.

All units start at 20 HP. Movement depends on the class of the unit.

    Unit Stats:

Lord: HP: 20 (TBD) Mov: 5

    Fighter: HP: 20 Pow: 5 Skl: 2 Spd: 4 Def: 2 Res: 0 Mov: 5

    Mercenary: HP: 20 Pow: 4 Skl: 8 Spd: 8 Def: 4 Res: 0 Mov: 5

    Archer: HP: 20 Pow: 4 Skl: 3 Spd: 3 Def: 3 Res: 0 Mov: 5

    Knight: HP: 20  Pow: 5 Skl: 2 Spd: 0 Def: 9 Res: 0 Mov: 4

    Cavalier: HP: 20  Pow: 5 Skl: 2 Spd: 5 Def: 6 Res: 0 Mov: 7

    Peg. Knight: HP: 20 Pow: 4 Skl: 5 Spd: 5 Def: 3 Res: 2 Mov: 7

    Cleric/Healer: HP: 20 Pow: 1 Skl: 2 Spd: 2 Def: 0 Res: 6 Mov: 5

    Mage: HP: 20 Pow: 1 Skl: 2 Spd: 3 Def: 3 Res: 3 Mov: 5

    Shaman: HP: 20 Pow: 2 Skl: 1 Spd: 2 Def: 2 Res: 4 Mov: 5

    Monk: HP: 20 Pow: 1 Skl: 1 Spd: 2 Def: 1 Res: 5 Mov: 5

    Leveling Up:

After a battle, a unit rolls either ONE 12-sided die, or, TWO six sided dice for experience, the number you roll being the amount of experience you earn. If you decide to use 2 six sided dice, and you roll doubles, you get the sum of the number, multiplied by two.

When a unit levels up, roll a six sided dice twice, to determine how many and what stats you will level up, HP will always be raised by one point, and movement will never change.

Max level for a unit is 10, and to keep the game simple, no master seals or reclassing.

    Weapons and shops:

Each unit will start out with an iron weapon and a vulnerary, or one of the low level tomes for magic users.

    Weapon Durability:

    Iron/lvl. 1 tome: 15 uses

    Steel/lvl. 2 tome: 10 uses

    Silver/ lvl. 3 tome: 5 uses

    Healing Staff: 10 uses

    Vulnerary: 3 uses

    Tomes:

Level 1 Tomes: Fire, Lightning, Shine, Flux

Level 2 Tomes: Elfire, Thunder, Divine, Luna

Level 3 Tomes: Arcfire, Thoron, Aura, Nosferatu

    Weapon/Magic Triangle:

Swords beat Axes      Anima beats Light

Axes beat Lances     |    Light beats Dark

Lances Beat Swords|  Dark beats Anima

    Shops:

Shops sell weapons, tomes, staffs, and vulneraries.

    Costs:

    Iron Weapons/lvl 1 tome: 50 Gold

    Steel Weapons/lvl 2 tome: 100 Gold

    Silver Weapons/ lvl 3 tome: 200 Gold

    Healing Staff: 100 gold

    Vulnerary: 50 Gold

Everybody starts out with 1000 gold

If you wipe out a team, you get their  remaining gold.

    Battle:

Battle occurs between two units. Each unit takes their turn attacking. Once a unit dies, it is out of play for the rest of the game.

Damage is determined by the defense (for physical attacks) or resistance (for magic attacks) of the defending unit subtracted from the power of the attacking unit.

    • Level 1 Weapons add 1 damage to the attack
    • Level 2 Weapons add 3 damage to the attack
    • Level 3 Weapons add 5 damage to the attack

The weapon damage is added AFTER the first damage calculation is completed.

If the speed of the attacking unit is 5 more than that of the defender, the attacking unit will attack twice

To determine if a hit lands or not, the attacker will roll a 12 sided die, and if he rolls the same as or lower than his skill, his attack will land.

To determine if a hit is critical or not, the attacker will roll two six sided dice, and if the sum is equal to the attackers skill or higher, the hit is critical. The hit is also critical if doubles are rolled.

Critical hits deal three times the damage of a normal hit.

    Wiping out other teams:

There are 3 ways to wipe out an opposing team:

    • Kill their Lord unit
    • Wipe out ALL of their units
    • Seize their base

When you wipe out a team, you get their gold.

To seize a base, place your Lord unit on it.

When you kill a unit, you can choose to take their weapon.

Victory occurs when only one team is left standing.

Please feel free to give me recommendations!

First of all, I wasn't sure where to put this topic so I am putting it here.  I know it isn't a ROM hack or a fan game, but I feel it still falls under Fan Projects.

Once I have some progress to show, I'll begin to post some pictures!

  7. Thank you for all this advice! I've tried to take it into account with editing the sprite.

    Edit Log:

    • Hair is now a darker shade of blue
    • Armor is now orange
    • Lightened up neck shading
    • A more defined border between face, neck, and armor
    • Fixed shading between far eye and hairline
    • Fixed the outline of the hair
    • Added a little shading by the back of the head.

And here is the sprite! If Y'all have more advice, I'd be grateful to have it sent my way!

As such, the first thing you need is a tool to extract the game file. For 3DS, you want to extract the RomFS (which is kinda like a GBA ROM). You can find a RomFS Extractor/Builder made by SciresM.

Next, after extracting the files, you'll find that many files are compressed and/or encrypted to save space and make editing harder. FEAT, also by SciresM, can decompress/decrypt most common file types in 3DS FE games.

After decompressing/decrypting the file(s) of interest, then you use a hex editor or Nightmare etc. on the file.

Can I find links to these applications on Serenes? Or do I need to search elsewhere?

  9. As the title says, how do you make a hack of a 3DS title? I know of the tools used for older systems but not tools for the likes of the 3DS. Please bestow knowledge upon me so I can broaden my horizons.

    Thanks in advance.

    Spoiler

On a side note, could someone please explain to me what the heck Hex Editing is. I am completely lost on what it is but it sounds useful.

This is Senson. He is the result of splicing the portraits of Orson, Seth, and Ephraim from Sacred Stones. He also happens to be my first splicing job. Feel free to critique me if you'd like. I would love to learn more about doing this.

Does anyone know how to insert a MP3 file into FE GBA?

Go to Advanced Editors, then go to Song Tracks (far right), then click Import Song.

    Thanks in Advance!

Not sure if you meant to make that pun but good job!

    Welcome to the Forest, Jazzman!

There is a list of tutorials on the first post. Well, there is more than just tutorials but you'll see.

Have a nice day and enjoy your stay!

Thank you! I'll be sure to check it out!

Hello, everybody, I am the  Illustrious Jazzman. I obviously enjoy music, art, Video Games and, of course, Fire Emblem, or I would not be here today. I am a pretty average guy that cannot wait for the next installment to be released in the series. Spring 2019 is still a long ways away, kiddo. Anywhom, my favorite Fire Emblem game that I have completed is Fire Emblem Echoes. I am just going to say that the soundtrack for that game was absolutely phenomenal. I have completed all of the 3DS installments, and I am working on completing those on the Game Boy Advance, I am about halfway through Sacred Stones as of now. After I complete the GBA trio, I plan to play through Fire Emblem 4, Geneology of the Holy War, and Thracia 776 if I can find a decent translation for it. I have played through most of Path of Radiance but hen my Wii kicked the bucket and now I have no way to play it. Also, I am not dropping $500 on Radiant Dawn. I'd love to play but I don't have that kind of dough. Anyways, I am looking to start making Rom Hacks in my free time. I can make a pretty decent soundtrack if anybody needs one. I would like to learn how to make sprites and portraits efficiently, it'd be great if somebody can point me in the right direction there. I'd also like to learn how to animate said sprites and portraits. Now that that is said. I also just like chatting about Fire Emblem in general. I'm always open to chat. I am excited to meet you guys.

  14. My answer is YES. With a catch.

I would love to see the likes of Square Enix and Monolith Soft work on Fire Emblem.

However, I did say there was a catch. Square Enix, Monolith Soft, and Intelligent Systems/Nintendo MUST all work on it together. I feel if that happens, we get the storytelling prowess from all 3 of aforementioned companies, the phenomenal world building of Monolith Soft, as well as the wonderful traditional RPG elements from Square Enix. And Intelligent Systems sort of just helps where needed to keep the game feeling like, well, Fire Emblem.

  15. Brawler

They don't use any weapons. Just their fists.

High Attack, Speed, Skill, and HP.

    Low Defense, Resistance, and Luck

    Promotes into Horseback Brawler

They still don't use any weapons. They just have a horse now.

    Very high Attack, speed, skill

    Middling HP and Luck

    Low Defense and Resistance.

  16. I feel I got a pretty good idea for this, however, I am going to set some boundaries right here, to remember for the rest of this proposal:

    1. No dragons and/or gods

    2. No magical super sword

    3. The main protagonist is NOT a lord

Now that those are out of the way, let us begin:

Setting: This game would take place on the continent-country Alternia. The time period would be early eighteen-hundreds, where more modern weapons are beginning to make an appearance, yet more traditional weapons are still widely used.

Mechanics: The weapon triangle would still be put in place, as to be expected. Powder weapons shall replace magic completely. There will be NO magic in this game. The new Firearm triangle shall go as such: Pistols beat Shotguns, Shotguns beat Muskets, and Muskets beat Pistols. Weapon durability would stay for the traditional weapons, but the new Firearms will have an Ammo mechanic instead. Because of the removal of magic, the Res. stat shall be removed. Skills shall remain, as well as all the other mainstay mechanics.

Story: Our protagonist here would be a farm-boy named Joshua. Joshua is about to turn 18 and leave his family’s farm in search of a better life in the military. Joshua’s father is an alcoholic but tries his best to support himself and Joshua. Joshua’s mother died giving birth to him. Joshua is 6 feet tall, has a light tan, has piercing blue eyes, and dark brown hair. Joshua has had a tough life, and it shows through his personality. He holds his past close to his chest, but as the game progresses, we learn a lot about him and his heritage. When Joshua finally leaves his farm and hometown, he is joined by his friend, Neil. Neil’s dad is a gunsmith and sent two Pistols to be used by Neil and Joshua. Joshua and Neil travel to the capital to enlist in the Military but are attacked on the way by some Thieves on the roadside. After they defeat the thieves and enlist in the Army, Joshua and Niel are sent with a few other soldiers under the command of Jon, the Jagen character, to take attack a bandit hideout. Once they make it to the hideout, Joshua recognizes the markings around the hideout and realizes that the thieves that attacked them on their way to the capital were members of this bandit group. They ultimately end up seizing the hideout, but Jon was mortally wounded by the Hideout boss. Joshua and Neil are sent on many more missions to eradicate the bandit group, who ends up being much more powerful than anyone suspected, and along the way, Joshua’s prowess continually ranks him up through the military. Joshua learns that his father, as well as many of his forefathers, were mighty warriors in their day. Joshua’s father had decided to hang up the sword for the last time after he received a grave injury that prevented him from fighting again but also allowed him to meet Joshua’s mother. After returning from one of Joshua’s raids, he learns that his hometown has been taken over by the bandits he has been relentlessly hunting for the past years. He immediately takes his battalion and goes to fight the bandits. This is where the bandits would be eradicated and would also act as the final chapter of the game. We later learn that after eradicating the Bandits, Joshua decides to retire and live a happy life with whoever he decided to S-Support with.

Other than this, it is a pretty standard Fire Emblem game.
