  1.  - In trying to recruit students, raising their support via a month’s temporary aid, dining and tea time is basically a waste of time efficiency. It’s way easier to just buy their love with their cheapest preferred gifts from the southern and eastern merchants, and with lost items and flowers, getting them up to C and B is a cake-walk that doesn’t consume activity points.

     - The RNG for class certification exams resets every week, so with a little save-scumming you can get into even Master Classes with 30-50% pass rate in only just a few tries. Didn’t ever take me more than 2-3 weeks to roll a pass.

  2. Healing has a pre-determined trigger, and it tells you if you X-button over the adjutant when they're equipped. If the lead unit falls below 50% hp, the heal will activate at the beginning of the next turn.

Attack  and Guard it doesn't specify anything. But tbh, I don't think I ever had anyone in an armored glass, so Guard was never an option for me to equip. And for the most part I've been killing enemies efficiently enough that I don't think there's been many opportunities for the Attack ones to trigger...

Ah, so it wasn't just me. They never told us about this, did they?

But I guess it doesn't matter too much : gauntlet have such low might that most mages would struggle to pierce most enemy's defense.

Haha, I was going crazy for a minute cause every article or site always mentions gauntlets don’t work on mounted units, but I haven’t seen anywhere report that an infantry magic class can’t equip them.

And traditional magic units probably wouldn’t have a use for them, but considering Byleth has an aptitude for brawling and a boon for faith, you’d think utilizing those together throughout his class progression would be doable.

It's a bit hard to tell at the moment. It is one of the things I want to look into, but I haven't gotten any ideas how to approach it just yet.

Ah, I see. If anything, I would have figured one of the leakers / early players would be able to confirm that or not by now.

By the way, a little off topic but I've been a lurker at this site for over ten years, and this is the first time I've closely followed a build up to release of a Fire Emblem. Just want to say that your coverage of every detail to come out over the last few months was absolutely beast mode! It definitely made the wait a lot of fun, for me at least. Really appreciate the effort you put in.

  5. Do we know yet if each character has a unique learnset for each Skill, or whether it's just magic spells which are unique per character?

Like, I had assumed the Prowess abilities all grew the same for everyone, but I can't recall ever seeing it spelled out whether all the Ability and Combat Art gains are exactly the same or different per character.

    According to a 4chan leaker..

Edelgard/Byleth C Support -> MASSIVE background info spoilers

      Reveal hidden contents

Edelgard discusses how during the insurrection of the 7, 7 lords rallied to stage a revolt. When she and her uncle returned to the Empire, they gathered a group of loyalist lords (assuming Ferdinand’s family is part of this) to defeat them. They assassinated 4 of the lords in one night and forced the other 3 into exile. The 4 of them had crests of which Edelgard currently holds 2 and her uncle holds 2. Personal Speculation: This explains both Mercedes’ situation (her family was one of 4 exiled) and Marianne’s (her father was one of the lord’s killed and the holder of the crest of the axe that Edelgard now has possession of).

    This pretty much also explains

    Spoiler

why Jeritza wears a mask to conceal his identity, since its almost certain at this point he's Mercedes brother.

The renown statue has a pointy hat and mage robes but holds a sword. I imagined it could be something like a gremory or a mage.

Well, such a sword would be powerful on most magic users but so far we have not seen anyone weilding said crest.

Oh yeah, I forgot we already had a look at the statues, haha. But yeah, considering you're going to put a regular weapon on most mages anyway, I'm sure there's plenty of good ways for us to mash up a magic-sword like that.

I posted a theory on the question thread, that Saint Cathelyn's crest bearers based on the statue could have a faith spell as a relic but that is a nice idea tat I didn't look into, that would make Macuil crest bearers have a sword with reason properties. And also my theory about crests affecting proficiencies could be right.

But a relic sword with a powerful reason spell would jive pretty well with a Mortal Savant, no?

Maybe Macuil was even the historical archetype for that class.

I think all characters (exept Byleth) will get unique costume for advanced tier after time skip (like Felix looks alot like a Swordmaster), But lords will get a unique class in advanced tier, which will only be available in time skip.

And then they promote into "master tier" and there, lords will get another unique class Great Lord, which i think Dimitri is in that ad.

Maybe its just me, but I figured all the time skip designs were just re-skins for the Commoner / Noble classes, that also double as what the unit wears in the academy and during cut-scenes.

Cause I'm assuming those classes don't just disappear after the time skip, and it wouldn't make any sense for them to be in their student uniforms at that point anymore.

  10. I got to say I'm not sure how I feel about base stats being a requisite for recruiting as opposed to just skill levels.

What if your Byleth just doesn't RNG up magic enough to recruit the character you want before the school year ends? It will be a real bummer if random stat gains prevent you from getting your top choices from the other houses...

It always seemed interesting to me that so many students' bios specifically mentioned their siblings...

I feel this has been an under-talked about subject. Considering how many students have siblings (and maybe cousins, step-siblings, etc.) the total cast of this game could end up pretty big.

Not only will that have some brutal implications later on, as mentioned, when students change houses, its really left me wondering just how many crest bearers there are going to be.

I'm still going through the article, but where did you get that idea from?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I assumed that to be the case as soon as I saw the Skill Levels box in Dedue's status screen only had enough room for all the weapons, authority, magic and one movement type. In his screen it shows Armor as active, but there wouldn't be room in the box to show Riding and/or Flying as well.

Remember it would be House Charon, it exists just on the Faerghus-Leicester border. House Cordelia probably only obtained it through a Charon marrying a Cordelia and moving there.

Good point, but if House Cordelia has the crest too, then it could be either one that passed it on to her.

I’m anxious to see just how many characters in this world possess crests. Considering most of the students are “first born” or “youngest child” and only a couple are explicitly stated to be only children, there’s a lot of potential for siblings (and cousins, etc) to show up who can also wield the hero relics! And will those family members be friends or foes later on?

I mean I doubt all units can be recruited. Prime example being Hubert. Do you really think you will be able to take him away from Edelgard. I hope not at least, I'm not to big a fan of stealing characters either because I would've preferred if they were important to the story, but at least we don't take the whole class

There could be an opportunity cost here, too. Like maybe if you recruit a character and someone in your current house doesn't get along with them, you lose that character from your house.

I have to imagine it will be balanced in some way to prevent just forming an ultra house.
