Sarah Palin announced this morning that she is not going to run for re-election for governor after resigning. She said she is tired, and her and her staff aren't able to progress the condition of her state any, after reminding everyone what a difficult job it is. (personally I agree that it is a difficult job.) (Spoken on the local news this morning, can't find the article for it) She states she will continue to help republican candidates, and office holders, however it's left up to question if she will run for office again herself. Article What do you guys think?

Quite right. I am going to have to do more research on this program and see what I can do against it...

Alright, and I'm assuming I should change the question every now in then in case they figure it out.

XRumer 5.0 Palladium, and it's other versions are basically advertising programs. The kind that are used to spam forums. Designed to get past the captcha fields so they may spam advertisements on popular forums. Not sure exactly how they work, or have any experience with them myself. All I want to know is if there is a way I can stop them from spamming up a forum. I am on another forum where spambots are a serious issue, as they appear quite often and spam advertisements. I was considering making the following changes to stop them: 1. Require all emails to be validated. However I'm aware there are sites where you can generate a temporary email account, but fortunately not everyone knows about them, plus we can just block emails from those sites. 2. Add another field on the registration with something like "Are you human" and have you fill in a word that it specifies, perhaps able to trick the bots. Anyone have any information on other options? Or even some stuff that can stop these pesky spammers?

She's not too smart when it comes to computers, but it was a gift, so I guess I can't complain that much. Still though... I am just glad to be upgrading soon. The free Windows 7 seems like a nice deal too, and I've heard good things about it.

Well I've found two things: 1. I don't like Home Basic, and I'm sad to say I've been stuck with it for about 2 years. 2. 512MB is NOT enough to make Vista Home Basic even run efficiently. Nor is my horrible processor. My 1.6GHz processor with the 512MB of RAM would make the computer run so poorly I had to not only turn all graphics settings down that I could, get rid of desktop icons or backgrounds, I also had to go and buy more RAM. It runs slightly better with 1.5GB and doesn't lock up as much, but I sort of which I got a better deal. $900 for this computer, when I can get an Acer or HP with almost twice the specs of this with Vista Premium for $598... Makes me really want to yell at my stepmother for being such a dumb buyer... Edit: Someone keeps deleting posts... This is not a double post, it seems Blacken's post in between the two was deleted.

The 1TB externals are getting rather cheap now. I got mine for $119, which is pretty good considering my friend bought one about 4 months before me and it cost him close to $200.
-
See my problem is my computer was made when Windows Vista was brand new (and my stepmother who bought it knows nothing about computers) so for some odd reason it was stuck with 512MB of RAM, showing it's clearly designed for XP.

What would you recommend OS wise?
-
Why shouldn't I? My standards are being met, so I'm not disappointed, and I'm perfectly content. Raising my standards would only make myself disappointed all the time and miserable that my standards are never met. I'd rather live more content than that, darling.

I guess that's your opinion. I personally like all three, I've used all three, and I'm happy with all three.

Yeah, it'd be pretty bad if there was only 1 choice and we were forced to have that one choice. There's also a few other operating systems that aren't too popular.
-
No, it's just like, they all have strengths and weaknesses as they were designed for different things. So it makes sense that each is weak in one area, but strong in another.
-
It has to do with the 3 month roll back I'm guessing?
-
I'm assuming this is an update that happened when I wasn't here. I am going to go check the updates.
-
Hmmm, that is a good question...
-
Too each their own. I don't think either is superior, I just want a macbook, but I'd never get rid of my Windows PC for one.
-
I don't know I would get a Macbook Pro if they weren't so expensive. They look nice, perform pretty well from what I've seen, and Usually come with some good adobe software preinstalled on them. If it wasn't for their massive price tag, I'd have one!

My new computer comes with a free Windows 7 upgrade when it's released. So I might actually get it.

I'm not particularly fond of it myself. Then again, my computer has a 1.6GHz processor, and was designed to be a business computer, so it wasn't meant to be graphically inclined. It even came with 512MB of RAM when I bought it, yet it had Vista on it... Talk about frustrating... And I really like Pidgin, I used it on my Linux partition, and I use it instead of AIM on here.
-
I see you have the old, less graphically inclined AIM.
-
Why are icons so bad if I may ask?
-
I actually really wanted a Macbook, I just can't afford one.

Mine has lost some of the customizations due to me getting a new computer soon so I'm cleaning this one out.
