  1. I'm not sure I get what you said, but, do you think free stats booster are bad? In my opinion, abusing the RNG behind the rings mechanics is worse, since it becomes like powerful free stats booster. If you know exactly when you'll get a good ring, you can then bend the game to have what you want, and more importantly use it. I find it more game changing than just having some stats booster (which you can throw away) or some gold and materials (that you can waste "easily"). Rings give some boost to more than one stats, generally, plus certain skills for the more powerful ones. It's especially game changing when you're in the part of the game where you lost all your Emblems.

Anyway, at last, you're the one playing by your own rules. You ask for other opinions, we gave it to you. It's your choice to take those into account, or not. After all, it's your game.

PS: If what's only matter is what happens on the map, then the stat booster items and the free materials are not a problem either. Like for the rings, it's free boosts.

No, actually. Dude looks pretty cool. Honestly, might as well - Zephia murders him because she doesn't accept failure or something like that, I don't remember her exact words... and then she and her "family" proceed to spend what, 18 chapters in a row failing over and over? Nelucce must've been laughing his ass off in Hell.

That's totally the case. I'm really sick of this old trope we still see in too much things nowadays. When the baddie kills his own army because, you know, he's a real baddie. Bad bad bad guy! I find it so lame and bad writing. I'm surprised that nowadays' writers can still come up with that shit. Especially when, as you say, they keep failing over and over for the rest of the story. It's so funny that at some point, when I saw the four hounds again, I was like "Hi losers! Okay, you want to get your ass beaten again?". From Griss's perspective, as he's masochist, that could make sense. But the others....they're just so useless.

It gives 1 damage (up to 5) for every weight it is heavier.  Hector in general gives str, def and bld for using him. Putting an engrave on a brave lance with Timerra, would not only make her double and hit well with how high her dex can go, but each hit will have a chance to proc her personal skill too. And you get the true damage on it as well.

Thanks for the answer. So, in order to get the 5 damages, you do reduces your speed by 5. Seems totally doable. Especially with Speedtaker, where this penalty can be erased in 3 fights.

This Timerra seems really scary, ahah. But yeah, she has enough Dex for her skill to proc often. I use her with Ike, and on Aether turn, she do a lot of damages (I think Sandstorm proc around every two-three attacks, lucky as I am).

  4. I'm not fan of the maid/butler design of this new class, as I was unhappy with it in Fates. But, I think it might have a lot of fans to come back like this. Like Camila.

This utility class seems more situational even than Martial Master. Won't do a lot of damages like their counterpart, can't heal aside from items (so you must have a lot of them in stock). At least, they have access to daggers, but I'm afraid they just do a less efficient job than martial master and thieves. It's interesting but...

That reminds me of a mix between maid/butler and an effective apothecary/merchant. And that class from Final Fantasy Tactics, the one who can throw potions, and everything.

Do we know yet how many new classes await in the datamining?

The other I thought of would be Hector Timerra since he legit fixes all her issues and even gains extra damage if the weapon is too heavy (Up to +5 true damage).

How does that work? What heavy is considered here to add 5 damages? Would it be just like 1 point above the unit's build?

I think it would be a cool pair with brave weapons, since they are a bit heavy and always attack twice, no matter what. So, +5 damages times 2 give at least 10 more damages.

Even more if your unit is not really speed down by the weight, or have a lot of speed, and can double naturally the enemy. That could give up to 5 more damages times 2 times 2, for a big 20 more damages? I'm not sure about the calculations here, but that seems crazy. Should pair up with speedtaker.

That part is actual nonsense. That's an odd localization change. In Japanese, she's the Emblem of Anya, which was both the name of the kingdom Nohr and the game Conquest in Japanese, so she could be Emblem of Nohr or Emblem of Conquest. Emblem of Revelation is just NOA for some reason trying to be really neutral and not favoring one game version over another, even though Camilla by herself is obviously favoring one of them.

Oh Really? Thank you for the precision! Actually, it was the same in the Nintendo of Europe Direct. A really strange move, as we don't care if one side is favored compare to the other (for me, they both equally sucks in comparison of a Lyon Emblem, ahah). But thank you for the translation, that makes more sense in a Japanese way. I just don't understand the localisation work.

The Lyon dream is dead 😢

🥲 The next step is to be recruited by IS and show them the right direction for the saga, ahah!

  7. Okay, so we saw the video, and as I knew datamining already, I'm not surprised. Just more disappointed. Nintendo could have tell only two new Emblems and think more for the other, to change them, ahah.

Actually, I just agreed with Hector (who wouldn't?) and Chrom-Robin (That was a sure call). I don't like Camila. We saw her too much I think. And she's the Emblem of Revelation? Nonsense. I'm genuinely asking "Why is she so popular?" Is it because of the fantasies of the Onee-chan? =/ Azura is much more noticeable in those games, and more plot-relevant, isn't she? Plus, she can bring Lance affinity. Not many Emblem have a Lance, actually, Sigurd is the only "Lance specialized", and he only have two of them. (not counting Dimitri in the DLC)

I'm not fond of Soren. Sure, I liked him in his games, back in the days, but I don't think he's really "emblematic". I would have rather Elincia (and as I said, she could have bring bonus for flier unit, etc.)

And Veronica....Actually, I'm not fond of Heroes. I don't really like it, I think it's just a way to pass time for those who love it. But it doesn't ring any bell in me. No nostalgy at all. Even if the "summon" thing seems interesting (actually, she will just summon other Emblems as playable units?) I would have prefer Lyon! He's the one! Perfect here! He could have summon aberrations. Or better, deceased characters' aberrations. That would have been so cool!

Anyway. Still sad about IS choices here. I'm not sure the DLC story can do the job to sell all the package when it seems a bit lame overall.

Any way to raise Emblem bond levels in a hurry? Also, how many bond fragments does it cost to battle Emblems in the arena?

The only fast way I know is via the Arena.

The fragments needed depends on the level you want to achieve. You can gain 5 levels max par fight, or go to a multiple of 5, and each time you pass a multiple, the cost increase. If you have some exp beforehand (like from story mode, paralogues or skirmishes), the needed fragments decreases a bit.

    From 1 to 5 = 100 per level

    From 5 to 10 = 300 per level

    From 10 to 20 = 500 per level

    Hope this helped.

  9. 4 hours ago, Shadow Mir said:

Do Emblem abilities like Hold Out, Alacrity, etc. get replaced by their upgraded versions or are the upgraded versions separate from the normal versions?

If the units holds the Emblem, it's automatically replaced.

If your unit have inherited the skill, you'll need to inherit the new version, and then it'll be replaced. They can't cumulate, and you can't go back to the weak version once you upgraded it.

  10. Daggers are sure nice, but no one talk about bows? I found them really strong! Especially (essentially) if you give them to backup units (either Warrior or Bow user with Lucina's ring). The chain attacks, made possible by longbows, is pretty useful. Radiant bow are nice. But, Longbows, a bit refined are really strong on their own. You can attack safely a lot of foes, without getting in range. And if you give a longbow to the user of Corrin's ring, you can apply Draconic Hex and completely freeze the enemy with the Dreadful Aura, without being in danger. You can also block the foes next. Just game saver when some bosses are such a pain.

But yeah, if the enemy get in range, it's useless, ahah.

EDIT: Ahah, Scaramuccia was too fast for me!

I dislike this on multiple levels. The breastplate being a different color for no reason. The Superman underwear on the outside (I'll probably never have a male Hero for this reason alone). And the physics-defying derp cape. Just a badly made class outfit.

EXACTLY! I loved the Hero class until the 3DS era. I had some difficulty with the design, but I get used to it finally. And now...this...it's so sad Goldmary would be the only hero.

But...in lost of hopes, I made my Alear a Hero, hoping he could gain a bit of strength. I'm really wanting an update where IS allow us to use other outfit in combat mode. Because their designs are really not all good. It's the opposite.

  12. Past chapter 22 here, so I got the last Emblem, and I'm wondering what to do with my "teambuilding" now, ahah

    Spoiler

My Alear wasn't really powerful, so I used him as the wielder of Byleth, to dance for others and instruct them with the bonus of Dragon type unit. That was the whole strategy, he was not really fighting.

But now, with him as an Emblem, things change. I think I won't engage him with an Emblem from now on, since his Fusion seems powerful. I mean, if he, or the other, defeat a foe, it's +4 to each stats (depending on the type unit for the bonus, etc.). Plus he can engaged an ally, and that ally can engage again if it have an emblem on his own (which I don't know yet). Since we have 12 Emblem + 1 (without DLC here) and nearly 14 units in the last chapter, doing so free an Emblem for another unit. It would be 12 units with an Emblem, Alear and a last unit, with bond rings.

But, the downside would be Alear having only two skills. Just the two inherited ones. That's not much, but on the other side I didn't use him with big offensive skills before. Byleth gave him some things that I can pass (well okay, mostly luck percentage, and the divine pulse that may work sometimes).

Since I don't benefit vastly from the dragon type now (I kept it mostly for the Emblem's bonuses) , I may turn him into a Backup type, like Hero. The skill is great and the bonus to his Emblem skill would give +2 strength more. Which could be cool.

I think I kind of answer myself by explaining ahah.

I never really fully delved into the math calculations of Fire Emblem, but this game kinda lures me toward it, since it already display quite a lot of info to you, but I'm still not sure how it works in comparison.

    1) Hit vs Avoid: How is the hit percantage calculated exactly? Connected to that, how much more avoidence over enemy's hit I need to get 0% hit percentage?

    2) Build vs Wieght: This one I might know, but want to confirm that, fro mwhat I understand, If you have same build as is the weight of weapon you are not penalized? But also a question, lets say you have build 9 and weight is 10, do yo uget -1 to speed or is it different?

    3) Str/Mag + weapon might: How much damage do I get counting these stats together?

    4) Def and Res: How much damage do you mitigate with this stat, I remember in GBA titles it was simple damage-defense/resistance=damage dealt, but I think that changed? In regard of Res how is the percantage calculated, when avoiding staves?

I don't really know how to calculate the Hit percentage, because I can't figure what I'm missing from the math. But I got something close (generally, there is 1 point of hit I can't explain).

    Total Hit = Weapon's Hit + (Unit's dex *2) + (Rank level * 2) + 1?

    Consider here that each rank equals a number. E = 1, D = 2, C = 3, B = 4, A = 5, S = 6?

That's roughly that, I think. But I miss something, I'm sure! I'll take the example of my Etie.

    Spoiler

Etie is a Warrior with B rank in bows, and have 28 in dex. If I give her a Longbow with 70 accuracy, she's up to 135.

    135 = 70 + (28*2) + (4*2) + 1

I made the comparison with Saphir and Panette, who are also Warriors (with less dex and less good rank in bows, with longbows, in my play. I find the same thing.

Enemies can't counterattack when using Warp Ragnarok, so you could still use it as a way to teleport despite dealing 0 damage.

Of course that stops you being able to do anything else once you warp, so Sigurd may be the better option if you just want enhanced movement.

Right. But I think the concern of Vicyus was to put mage at risk in enemies line. If he gives Celica to Seadall and warp him, it might be the same danger, even more since Seadall might be less powerful, in magic, than an actual Sage.

But yeah, Sigurd is the best in term of positioning or anything.

Question about reclassing: I invested a great deal in Boucheron, but finds out I absolutely loathe the appearance of his standard promotions. I though maybe Brave Hero will look good on him (anyone has any pictures?). I'm at chapter 14 and he's lvl 16. Do i really have to reclass him into swordfighter and level him up to lvl 10 again? Will he get EXP any faster this time around? Will he have a cumulative EXP gain of 16+10 at time of promotion?

I really have a hard time figuring Awakening-style promotions, really...

DefyingFates tells you well what to do. If you want my opinion, since he's level 16, seem he could be in his base class. Master seal him into an advanced class (either Berserker, or Warrior if you have bow prof), and then second seal him to another class (depending the proficiencies he has).

If he's level 16 of his base class, then its level will be 16. The internal level, which is what the game use to calculate the exp gained. If you promote him, he'll be something like 16 internally, as some people made the test and it doesn't seem to change.

But, what do you hate about his appearance? I'm a big fan of Hero class in Fire Emblem, in general, but in this one, I find it really ugly. So...I'm sad, ahah, no Hero in my team (except for Goldmary, the only one with a unique look). I make some test regularly of looking of my units, and sometimes take screenshot. I don't remember if I ever did Boucheron hero, but I did others. I might take a screenshot for you maybe

  16. 8 hours ago, Vicyus said:

I haven't been able to test it yet but celica with seadall might actually be great tech. It would allow him reposition once and I believe you don't actually have to cast it on a foe to warp. Celica in herself might not be a good enough emblem though due to mages in the late game not wanting to take such a risk making a hail Mary warp.

Hum, might not be possible. If I remember well, you have to target a foe to use warp ragnarok. You can't just wander anywhere. So...

Fogado and Lucina. Not only is Parthia a strong bow, but he can make great use of bonded shield to units in danger with his 6 mov. Add Canter and Alacrity and you’ve got yourself a pretty good bow knight.

I did try it that way, for the long range dual assist, but I ended up giving Lucina to Yunaka for the poison dual assist, which I find more useful. I might loose a bit on 2 range (1 more movement and 1 more for longbow), but with pass, and the fact that I'm generally packing, waiting for enemy to group before me, and placing Yunaka centrally to the fights, it's okay. I might give her boot to compense this a bit.

  17. 5 hours ago, Armchair General said:

I thought Pincer Attack was worth getting?

Depends on your playstyle I would say. Imo, I prefer a double attack over just 10% more by chain attack (and I love chain attacks, don't get me wrong). On one side you can chip 5 more PV from tougher enemy. On the other side, if you plan your position, you can kill a boss in one turn. My hallebardier did some 40-50 damages lately to some bosses or tough units.

And, if your hallebardier is enough, you can give him S rank lances, like Venomous. That thing is crazy! Powerful and poisoning, strong on the enemy phase!

  18. I might not be the right one to talk about this, because I tend to never use mounted units (be it Cavalry or Flying). I just don't like them in general, since the first FE I played (Blazing Sword), if I remember. Anyways, in term of mounted, I think Wyvern Knight is kind of really powerful. Big strength, big defense growth, nice skill to have.

Well, my preference go to Backup units, especially one for each primary weapon. Mystical are nice, especially for the fact they can negate avoid of tiles. Very useful against covert units. Covert units are nice also, for the avoid bonus on tile (except when they face mystical). So...

-Warrior: I think that's the big one. I always liked warriors, but here, they seem to be too powerful. Nice stats in general (My three warrior have good ones), enough build to wield strong weapons, access to axe to do a lot of damages, and bow to range everyone (and do damages if you have powerful bows). They will assist in a lot of fight if you give them a longbow. Their skill is nice too if you manage to set it up a bit (+ 50% damages against broken foes). That could really go crazy.

-Hero: I always liked Hero the most (but in this game their outfit is lame). They're generally good fighters, with nice strength, def, decent speed and dex. They can wield sword and axe/lance. I tend to prefer lance, for their lighter weight compared to axes. But that's just my taste, you can go traditional with axes. The skill here is pretty powerful if you keep your hero full life most of the time (every chain attacks from them will be doubled). To inflict 20 % of the max HP with only one hero is pretty strong, especially against strong enemies. Give your hero a javelot, and place it on center of many enemy and profit.

-Hallebardier: I'm a bit weak here, because I always liked (I say that a lot, ahah) lance users (from Ephraim to Oboro, passing by Nephenie, etc.), so I like this class. They've got pretty decent stat I should say (I test this with Jade in my playthrough). Backup units, so they can chain attack with everyone at range. Their skill is strong too, especially if your hallebardier is kind of slow (if you attack an enemy surrounded by an ally and the hallebardier, then it does two attacks).

That's the strong classes for me (since I don't use mounted ones)

I don’t know, I feel like Jade might be the best one for them and only if you keep her a general.

Which I didn't, lol. I straight changed her into lance fighter line, to have a Hallebardier. She's kind of okay as one, I guess (maybe a bit of favoritism since I really want to play her) and I like her class skill. But... in term of lance users, I think Timerra is doing better. Better defense, speed, around the same build.

Right now, I'm wondering to turn her back into General, or Saphir into a General. Or no one, give up a bit S rank axes (as I already gave up S rank Bow) and keep all those backup units. Sure the high defense of General is nice, but the unbreakable isn't of much use I guess. My units really don't get broken often, as I plan carefully. And even if they did, I'm not relying too much on the enemy phase to do damages.

  21. 37 minutes ago, ciphertul said:

Berserker is just a terrible class here. Loses to Warrior on nearly everything, her good dex is gimped by being a berserker. What’s good about a nat 40% growth in Dex when it caps super low? Spd is awful to nat 25% plus a berserker’s 10% with a base 13 and a cap of 20.

You're right. It's a tough decision, because it's easy to end up with an army of Warrior. I wanted to keep Panette as a Berserker to have access to those S rank axes, but I fear they're not that great, plus being so heavy she would loose little speed she has.

  22. 7 minutes ago, ciphertul said:

You must talk about the enemy ones. But I did some reclassing, for fun, to see how everybody is looking, and Berserker Boucheron looks like Berserker Diamant, just different colors. He even looks like tiny Berserker Anna ahah (I just can't stand how she's cute and so tiny in every outfit, lol). Boucheron is generic Berserker, unfortunately. Generic player berserker.

So the other weapon she gets as a Warrior doesn't mean anything, she's just going to be using a bow? I think she already has an Axe proficiency so that'll make things simple. On the hand the only sword unit I have at the moment is Alear (Diamant uses mostly axes). Hmm...

To be honest the weapon coverage is why I asked about Louis and Jade. I see now that Louis has better Str and Def growths: does that make him the better armored unit? I benched Panette at first, but am considered training her up once I get High Priest Anna up and running so I can have someone using S Rank Axes, if that means anything.

    Thank you very much, Hiroki!

Hum, okay, I get your question now. Etie has good strenght, and mine has enough dex and speed. Not so much defense, so you don't want to put too much in frontlines, low resistance, so keep an eye on mages. The problem would be her low build. As a warrior, mine is at 10 build, which let her use nearly all bows with no penalty. I think only Noatun is good in axes, for her. For swords or lances, she need reclassing, and losing a bit of build. After that, I think most of the high tier lances are too heavy for her, and effective sword also (like armoslayer).

But, she could work in other class, I guess. It's just that I found bows to be too powerful here to change a bow user to something else.

I think Louis is a better armored ones than Jade. I changed my Jade actually, because I had the feeling she would fall a bit in armor. Now she's a hallebardier, nicely useful on the battlefield. One major source of damages when I have to bench my usual dps (Diamant) to train other units.

Panette is really strong, she made me bench Boucheron. She has enough build to wield many axes, good dex. Maybe a bit low on speed, but her skill is nice (+10 crit is not full HP). But...on the other side, S rank axes are really heavy! Her speed would be affected and make her even more slower.

It's actually so sad that non promoted on join units don't have any unique outfits in their base class promotions.

Yeah! I'm also sad by this point, and I was thinking of talking about here somewhere on this forum. But, actually, except from their starting classes, no unit have a special outfit. Once you change their class, they'll always stay with the generic sad outfit, with color variations. It's really sad, if you want to have unique looking unit, you have to stay with the pre-promoted ones (or the royals).

(Mention to the Hero class, which was my favorite in other games, but I found it very ugly here, ahah. Too sad when they have one of the best skill)
