    [spoiler=COMPETITION RULES - PLEASE READ]

    • The contest theme is optional. The theme is provided as an additional option and is not mandatory.
    • No large "full custom" (made from scratch) areas, parts, or pieces. The final result should be made of and identifiable to areas from the source mugs. If you feel like your entry may be considered "questionable" to others, you are allowed to post work-in-progress screenshots or other visual proof of your process.
    • Only use the given set of mugs; other mugs are not allowed. You may, however, elect to use fewer than the amount of given mugs. (Ex: 4 mugs are given, but you only use 3.)
    • Recommended color limit: 16 (15 on your mug +1 for background). This is rule is flexible, but being cautious with your color count as a general rule of thumb for good pixel art. You are allowed to deviate from the standard FE color choices if you wish to do so, as well.
    • Don't vote for yourself, or I will cry sad tears devoid of mod power. Seriously, if you think none of the other entries are worth a vote, please select the "abstain vote" option.
    • Hosts may enter contests. As a public poll is used as the voting platform, hosts receive no benefits or unfair advantages from running the contest.
    • Only 1 entry per member. However, you may edit your entry while the contest is still active. Please edit your first post, or quote the most recent entry you wish you submit for clarification, or the wrong entry may be submitted for voting.

    VOTING:
A public poll (users can view voted results) will be put up once the entry period has ended.
Voting consists of 2 categories: 'Best in Theme' (single choice) and 'Favorites' (multiple choice).

'Winner' is the popular vote for 'Best in Theme' and the runners-up are taken from the most popular two from both voting categories. If there is overlap (e.g. 2nd place is the same participant for both categories), a weighted average of the total votes will determine the remaining runner-ups.

The winner of the contest will choose the next theme and a mug, and runners-up will choose the remaining mugs once the theme has been decided. If you have been selected to choose a mug for the next set, please try to limit choices to actual portraits and not shopkeepers, blank/placeholders, or dragon Idoun.

    PARTICIPATION NOTES:
In the past, there has been a lot of conflict surrounding what does and doesn't constitute proper splicing techniques. This is not the venue to repeat that argument (if you're interested in it, please look at old rounds between 50 and 65). Please remember to allow participants the freedom to experiment and find their comfort zone in splicing. Give them votes when you believe they're successful, but do not use their entry as a platform to tell the world what you don't like.
If you have any questions or concerns, please PM the current host.

  3. Then I push the request off forever. Life ;w;

Fishished Lilith from the streaming event.

    nqK1h.gifnqK0O.gif

This comes around 24 colors so if you actually wanted to use it you'd have to crush or recolor.

  4. I'm not sure I really understand quite yet.

Do you want 3DS FE characters just ported over to older sprite styles (there's a lot of them out there for GBA style, only a few for SNES/NES-esque), or like, the characters themselves in the costume styles that older FE's tended towards (like Awakening did for einherjars, but in reverse)?

Or are you talking the particular official character art styles?

Zealot, FE8 Generic Enemy, Village Girl, FE6 Hector

    Theme: Retired War Hero

  6. Smirkser's

    mHiZZcF.png

wins Best in Theme and Popular Choice with 11/12 and 83% favorability! He'll get to choose next theme and a mug, and runners up MasterPlan201, Enaluxeme, and CobyTheKid will each get to choose a mug for the next set. Small but great showing, guys!

  7. I don't know why you are saying this, first of all, this is a different thread, we are not doing this in the pool's comments section so I think we don't ruined the event.

Second of all, I didn't read a single one here who is ''competing'', I think we all know this event was for fun (Tangerine said that many times already). We are only here to share our thoughts. Nobody was like: '' My story was cool, why did nobody voted for ME!?''

Plus, the only thing we could really complain about is either the shared pool or the second page of the writing section (glad you brought that up, eclipse, I wasn't sure that was a good idea to talk about it) but I think most (or everyone) understand that the event is new so issues like these happened.

Thirdly, it the thread was a nuisance for the event itself, I think eclipse (or any mods for that matter) or even Tangerine would have lock this thread.

I understand what you are saying (since you helped Tangerine) but for now (unless something happens), there is no need to be worried.

I said it because I was worried about the way the first post was titled, specifically the regrets and expectations (and the things Tang mentioned), but yeah, I hope there isn't any reason to be worried. ^^; I agree with your points, and apologies for coming off too strong on the defensive.

  8. Just out of politeness for those still in the running and 'competing' (so-to-speak), could you guys hold off on reflection and analysis just a little while longer? The discussion has been fine so far, but I'm worried a bit with the 'regret' part things could sour (plus I think all the authors were going to be revealed at the end of the event).

If you need to you need to, just please respect that the event's still running and keep it on a positive note. We'll come back to the 'how can we run things / how you felt things could've gone better' after the event!

For it being the first-time, things have run very smoothly and the community's gone above and beyond what we thought it would (creators, voters, and viewers), so everyone be proud!

  9. New mouth looks good! The first seemed a little low, like the distance between the nose and upper lip was too much, but I think you fixed it? The intensity of expression seems fine in either version.

Doma's beautiful and so is Roy's anim, much love~ <3 Digging the mugs too~ They don't seem particularly Fire Emblemy in terms of shading, but I like the style.

  10. Figured with the current direction it'd not jive with the bias of letting you ship whoever you wanted if you tried hard enough.

Most of the games in the series lately haven't been about exploring cultural experiences or philosophies, they'd rather build off tropes, so I don't particularly care about the lack of realism/diversity.

  11. Gorgeous work~ The attention to detail, the balance of color and shading between the landscape and all of Roy is just lovely. (And inspiring too!)

Please share those future drawings! ^_^
