  1. Realistically, what kind of end game level are we talking about for Hard?

Like would taking Chrom Lord->(Level x)->Cavalier->(Level 10)->GK->(Level 10)->Great Lord be feasible? (I'm picky about what class I want my characters to be by the final, so I'd like to know in advance whether or not I should be Change Sealing guys I want to finish in their original classes Tier 2.)

  2. +SPD -STR on the first run, going Magic-y.

They actually balanced the options really well, with none of the Flaws being "good choices" (though -STR is great for magic people) since most of them will hit Speed or both offensive stats in addition to their main subtraction. (-LCK affects STR/MAG, -MAG and -RES affects SPD, etc.)

  3. Bundle. I've wanted that FE 3DS since it came out in Japan and since I don't have a 3DS, it is perfect. No real desire to purchase a cart, I'm good with digital distribution, it is the future.

I don't have any interest in having an XL either. While a 90% larger screen is tempting, I prefer a tighter pixel density and smaller form factor.

  4. If there were to be another rogue DLC character like Eltoshen, I would hope for Shanan. While having another FE4 guy seems a bit wrong, it's also a bit odd that he's been entirely left out. His sword is in the game, and he was a fairly major character in Gen 2. I believe that just about every other character with canonical major blood is available in Spotpass in one way or another.

Spoilering it for wall of text

    Baldo: Sigurd, Celice

    Odo: -

    Hezul: Aless, Eltoshen

    Noba: Cuan, Altenna

    Dain: Trabant (Villains)

Neir: Also missing, but there was never a playable character with major blood.

    Ulir: Evayle aka Briggid

Blagi: Missing but has no weapon.

    Fala: Alvis, Cyas

    Tordo: Ishtar

    Holsety: Levin, Sety

    Narga: Diadora, Yuria

    Lopt: Yurius

Certainly leaves him the odd one out.

  5. Considering it was apparently being deliberately withheld from the conference and press materials, it seems that there will either be a decent delay before the release. (Probably late this year, it's not a flagship title so that's a "long time" probably)

OR, they were saving up for a special announcement, perhaps one that mentions the special edition bundle? We can dream.

Edit: Early 2013 would be most likely though, and probably most logical since they seemed to only cover 2012 games. On the other hand, missing the Christmas rush would be a shame.

  6. Giving up just because it wasn't at E3 is stupid. Only a fraction of games released in a year are unveiled at E3. Furthermore, FE isn't even remotely close to being as "big" as most of the games they mentioned. FE10 wasn't announced until near the release date, and assuming a Christmas-ish release for FE13, it's entirely possible the announcement could be as late as September.

Europe doesn't have a date, they only have a vague "2012" and localizing a game is the hardest part generally. If they translate it and everything, it would be foolish not to release it in both regions.

When Europe actually has a date maybe you can start worrying. Until then you're just being dumb and illogical.

  7. The fact the country names have changed can really be explained by the thousands of years of history, additionally, an apparent rebuild of everything at some point in the past.

Awakening was supposed to be a "letter to fans" in the presentation. Naturally there's a lot of references and the odds are we'll never put it together into anything more than a general timeline, if even that.

I'm inclined to think that the Awakening world is the main one that the other games existed in, while the Other World gate simply reaches out to other parallel universes. The fact you can get multiple units of the same character from DLCs and Spotpass implies that it definitely connects to more than a single world. (Meaning that, odds are, it's not "the main FE universe" on the other side.)

  8. Honestly, this is probably one the better E3s that I can remember. I can't remember the last time there was a legitimately "good E3," though. The one where Shigeru Miyamoto went on stage with the Zelda sword, whenever that was, probably.

I skipped Microsoft's conference though, I heard it was absolutely awful, so I don't have that dragging my opinion down. Definitely too much pandering to the casuals overall, but that's how you get money these days. It's either pander to the casuals or lose them to smartphones.

I'd have to say that there's been some really neat stuff so far, Beyond - Two Souls, Assassin's Creed 3, Arkham City Armored Edition and a few others.

  9. So someone got the passwords to Nintendo's E3 press kit site (username: Nintendo ; password: E32012), and they have a self-admitted partial list of upcoming 3DS, DS and eShop titles. Despite being fairly long, FE13 isn't among them. Hm.

Are there any currently unannounced games on that list? Everything I recognize has already been announced or is a given for release (Pokemon).

There's still the fact it's only a partial list. Regardless, I wouldn't be surprised that FE13 will be announced at a later date (probably whenever they finally give a release date for the EU release) as it's not really a "big game" for the west. (A lot of stuff on this list is junk though, so who knows.)

Can't see them localizing it and only releasing it in one region when the localization process tends to be most difficult.

  10. I wouldn't entirely give up on the game after tomorrow. While they may be putting a lot of emphasis on the game in Japan, the series isn't quite as "big" over here. If they planned on including the bundle, it would likely be tomorrow. With a European release all but confirmed, I wouldn't give up until the end of the year, or the EU release, whichever comes first.

  11. http://www.nintendo.co.jp/fe/few_series.html

Every game here has a small label of "Fire Emblem Series #" with every number coinciding with the release order (and fan's numbering order).

I would like to think that there was a new Wii game in production but it was pushed back to the Wii U and some stuff internally hasn't adjusted to the different release order. However, it seems unlikely that such an error would appear on some wallpapers weeks after the game's release. So I suppose it's entirely possible they've started counting BSFE and this page hasn't been updated.

  12. Still doesn't explain Vake and Wyck, though..

I'm unfamiliar with Japanese, but it could be something to do with the fact that in a few languages (certain periods of Latin (was it classical, or not classical, been a long time), and German, come to mind) V and W are the same sound. Not that it helps much, as Latin (the certain style I studied), sounded the V as W, while German treats W as V, the entire opposite. I'm sure there's other languages with a similar W/V thing.

However, how it turned up in a Japanese romanization? I couldn't tell you. Also no idea if it's supposed to be V- or W-sound

  13. Found a picture of Serlis, Eltshan and the Infinite Divine Weapons map.

I know they've been re-posted, but those links work perfectly fine if you copied the url and pasted it (or simply put your cursor into the address bar and hit enter to reload as if you did c+p it), apparently it doesn't allow people to click links from random places, like here. Didn't need to proxy or anything.

Eltoshan seems a bit odd. He's in a DLC but isn't really a DLC character, and wasn't it assumed he'd be a future Spotpass? Maybe the "Villains" team will have their members tossed into DLC Maps instead of having a Spotpass team?
