Previously, we are able to determine the unit's canon classes by finding out which classes match their noble/commoner/monastery outfits.

After the update, the faculty seems to change to the generic outfits.

Have we lost the ability to determine their canon classes?

Canon Classes should probably be whatever class they level up into when you haven't recruited them, or what they show up as in the war phase.

Does having any of the Crest Items in New Game+ allow the holder of the items to gain the upgraded effects of the Hero's Relics?

So say I gave someone the item that replicated the Crest of Fraldarius on Felix. Would that mean the crestholder would be able to gain the damage halving effects of the Aegis Shield?

That's Correct. Any crest item prevents a unit from being damaged for using relics, while using the matching crest lets them use that relic's combat art.

Can someone explain to me how base stats work? I can consistently swap between these two classes for Dorothea and a couple of her stats change back and forth, but I can't deduce the rhyme or reason.

Classes affect your stats in two ways, Base stats and Class bonus.

Base stats work like they do in Echoes, where changing into the class brings each stat up to the listed base if it's lower. (for example, changing to Gremory with less than 17 Mag will bring you up to 17, but does nothing if your Mag is already 18 or higher.)

the class bonus is a modifier to your stats for as long as you are in that class. in your case, the warlock class bonus is +3 mag, +1 Dex, +1 Spd, and +4 Res versus the Gremory's +5 Mag, +2 Dex, +1 Spd and +4 Res.

You can see the adjustments using the info button on the reclass/certification screens.

Does anybody have any information regarding how/if characters' stats and levels change during the time skip? Are they leveled up to a new base? Do their stats reach a new base? Or does the game just give them X amount of level ups and call it a day? I didn't pay much attention to my stats and levels when the time skip happened. But I think Claude's speed issues may have been fixed by his unique class. It's currently 1 under his Str stat, but I distinctly remember it trailing behind Str by six or seven pre-time skip.

they don't change at all outside of the Lords switching classes. the first post-skip chapter was a hell of a thing for me since I had swapped out half my original class for recruits and they were way behind.

Unless the "must have crest" is just flavour and you can actually slap a relic on everyone, I'd be disappointed if that was the case.

Unless I'm mistaken, it is actually "must have a crest", in that anyone with a crest can use the weapon, but only someone with the matching crest can use the associated Combat Art.

I believe you can also do so with the Sword of the Creator, but it has 19 weight instead of 9 for everyone except Byleth

Just beat Claude's and Marianne's Paralogue, there are some interesting lore implications. Macuil is transformed into a Monster/Dragon and calls Claude's family his enemies, and says that Byleth has the "stench of sothis" on him. I originally thought maybe he meant Almyran, but it's clear he meant Riegan since he drops a Riegan crest weapon.

Maurice, the original holder of the Beast Crest, and originally one of the 10 elites, calls Byleth "the holder of the sword of the king" and asks for liberation from his current Beast form.

What does this mean? Did Macuil and Maurice turn against Sothis/Seiros, which is why they are stuck in Monstrous Forms? Flayn calls him her uncle, so why is Flayn/Seteth not stuck as monsters, just Macuil?

There is 0 doubt in my mind Maurice was definitely on Nemesis's side. But were all of the elites on his side too?

    Spoiler

Yup, the 10 Elites were actually Nemesis's generals (and presumably the source of the other red lights in the opening sequence).

Seiros went for some revisionist history and made them out to be heroes to make sure Crests became accepted for her other plans.

Meh, I honestly don't count Sothis or Rhea because why the hell would anyone want to romance them? And there's no way Byleth actually gets married to either of them in the end, despite the "romantic" nature of their conversations.

"why would anyone romance them" is a terrible blanket statement to make for the whole fandom. you might not want to but plenty of other people see some appeal in dating the fantasy pope.

Also, implying that they have to get married for it to be a real romance is kinda iffy as well. It'd be nice from a representation standpoint to have two girls (or two guys) definitively stated to have gotten married, but you don't have to be married for it to be a romantic relationship.

  8. Well, looking at the character spell lists, I now see why Dark bishop still has Miasma Delta as a class skill instead of just doubling uses of dark magic. Because there is one playable character in the entire game that both learns any dark magic naturally and can actually use the class (Hubert).

The choices on this class confuse me greatly when there's only three characters who learn dark magic at all and two of them are girls (Edelgard and Lythisea).

Based on appearance I hear Basilio's VA (who's actually the voice director for this game) so I hope it's him, idk.

Patrick Seitz, right? He's already in as Jeritza, though he could be pulling double duty as Alois. Hell Alois is the character I'd expect him to voice based on what I've seen of him before.

Edit: he'd probably have announced it though...

If im reading what we have seen correctly, it is 4 per month cause the battles/story stuff is in the end of the month? Like the last day. Thats what i think anyways.

Spoilered for size, but assuming the green icons on mondays indicate weeks of instruction, it seems consistent at 3 weeks/month.

I don't know which character's you specifically want to be a war master, but if it's someone who has a strength in Brawling then they will get there in no time. I'll use Caspar as an example. It takes 1320 exp to get from E to A. He starts with an E+ which elimates 40 of that exp from the start leaving you with a needed 1280 exp. If Brawling is set to one of his focuses he gains 32exp every week in that because he has a strength in it(28 for neutral, 24 for weakness). 1280/32 = 40 weeks until A rank in Gauntlets. That's 10 Months so by the end of Month 2 you will be finished and will then be able to take the War Master exam with no chance of failure. This will probably be just in time for Master classes as I don't see you reaching level 30 before month 2 very easily. However if you do and you want War master faster then you can just throw that character in a few seminars with Catherine or Alois(probably him as he does Axes too), or just tutor it a bit.

That's A rank in Brawling in 10 Months with absolutely no actual use of them. Downside is you can only have one other focus but if you are going war master then it's likely to be Axes and Gauntlets anyway.

If I'm reading what we've seen of the calendar system correctly, I believe it's only 3 weeks of instruction per month (The rest being dedicated to the monthly field study).

That puts A-rank in a strong focus at 13 months and 1 week, and thus presumably slightly into the war phase.

    2. About the relic weapons, what is unique about them, for example in genealogy they gave tons stats, in the GBA games they gave 5 to one Stat and effectiveness against dragons/monsters and etc. Do they do anything great other than being plot important and having a nice effect like the creator's sword being a 1-2 range?

Based on what we know of the Sword of the Creator, they probably have special Combat Arts attached to them (SotC's being 'Ruptured Heaven') and they might also auto-repair slightly if you rest on your free days.

However, there could be some minor changes between the two, I think we've seen a similar situation in other games, but I can't remember any specific examples.

PoR had a few supports that changed if people died, usually having a third party one character would mention replaced by Ike. Like Makalov would mention getting pulled out of a pawn shop by Marcia in his support with Astrid, but if Marcia had died it'd be Ike chastising him instead.
