  1. First run, had a female Avatar marry Henry, because I played her as a sociopath, so why not pair two of them up?

Second and third runs, had Avatar marry Nowi and Tharja for optimization reasons. I might redo those, though.

Current run, married Maribelle because she's my favourite female character in the game. She and Virion probably have the most consistently good supports and voice acting out of all of them, imo.

MU x Maribelle does indeed have great supports.

  2. From what I've seen (and all of these, save Noire, are assuming that the child will be played in their default class, unless the player desires otherwise):

Cherche - Gerome is a powerful unit. Prioritize defense against projectiles. Paladins like Stahl (and Frederick after a reclassing) make great fathers for Aegis, as does Virion for Bowbreaker.

Nowi - MU and Donnel are naturally good partner choices.

Maribelle - As a Priest, Brady is naturally squishy. MU is a great choice of father (especially with HP asset) for his strong growths and Ignis, which is potentially amazing on a War Monk. Kellam is also a strong choice.

Sumia - Cynthia's pretty much amazing regardless. Henry for Dark Flyer Cynthia. Chrom can donate Aether. All of her husband choices have something to bring to the table.

Lissa - MU can be a good partner, as Ignis helps make up for the otherwise bad stat contribution that Lissa gives him. Gregor can contribute Sol to increase Owain's survivability.

Panne - One of the primary problems of a Taguel is a lack of powerful offensive skills. Lon'qu can contribute Astra to make up for this. Frederick, Kellam, or Stahl can give Yarne Luna.

Sully - Kjelle is a pretty flexible daughter. As a general, she has powerful defensive utilities, but lacks offensive skills, making a more damage-oriented father wise. As a Great Knight, Luna synergizes with Chrom's Rightful King quite nicely (and Lucina would probably benefit from the skills Sully brings to the table as a Paladin or Great Knight).

Cordelia - Cordelia can contribute Gale Force to Severa. That along with Sol is more than enough to keep the young tsundere alive. Focus on the offensive side. Lon'qu is a strong choice for Astra, as is (Great Knight) Stahl for Luna. Gaius for Lethality is not optimal, but is a last resort if other fathers are taken.

Olivia - Pretty much the same as Cordelia, except with the addition of Chrom as a potential mate. Rightful King can be quite powerful on Inigo, and Lucina can benefit from the potential Galeforce from Olivia.

Tharja - Probably better off changing to a magic user, to capitalize on the modifiers from Tharja. With MU as her father, she's a wrecking ball.

  3. I like +SPD/-Luck too, but then again I haven't tried +DEF yet either. I always like using a SPD heavy team when possible.

Yeah, that's what I thought too for a while. The problem with that argument is that when you are getting attacked by 20 people per turn for example, one point of defense is like having an extra 20 hp.

What I didn't realize in making HP my flaw is that the HP asset/flaw also impacts your def and res. It may very well be the best asset for players looking for a tankier route, given that it improves every defensive growth, base, max stat, and modifier with the exception of avoid %.

  4. She's attractive, but obnoxiously whiny. I suppose if one wants a woman who is apparently perfect with a side of self-confidence issues, she's ideal. Personally, I prefer interesting, expressive women (with bonus points for the artistic or tomboyish types), making Morgan, Sully, Cynthia, Noire, Severa, Miriel, or Anna more appealing to me.

    4/10.

  5. See title.

I've been favoring a speed asset and HP flaw. In my opinion, speed is the most important stat in the game. It's crucial for damage, improves avoid chance, and helps prevent being doubled. My first MU was a magic asset, strength flaw, but his speed was on the low end until I fed him a few speedwings, and the decreased strength wasn't great for Ignis. HP is sort of a matter of personal preference - I find it less helpful than Def, Res, or avoid %, for the most part. It's been working out so far.

  6. I somewhat agree with this. There's only really one memorable song in the game (you can probably guess which), while the rest are just noise to me. And while past Fe games usually remake a lot of classic Fe tracks, at least they're really damn memorable.

I rather agree as well, though I'd say there are two memorable songs in the game ("Purpose" and "Run all you like - you can't escape fate.")

Radiant Dawn probably had the best soundtrack to date.

  7. This this this.

The children have much more stake in everything than the parents do, and they all seem more developed (Even if some of them are less tolerable). Lucina is really the main character imo, as she's the only one (barring avatar) with any agency in the game.

But to add to the unpopular opinion pool,

-Emmeryn's paralogue was well handled. It was the only way to handle it, and it doesn't take anything away from her actions in chapter 9.

I'm thinking that the best way to handle the story would have been to remove the Valm arc and replace it with one in which you play as the children and escape from the future. (Actually, I think a "mid-quel" like this would make an excellent follow-up to this title).

  8. - Vaike is a waste of a slot (or at least he is with the bad growths he always gets in my playthroughs - maybe I'm cursed).

    - Lissa and Maribelle are intolerable.

    - Chrom x Female MU conversations are not nearly as bad as they're given credit for. Actually, their S support is probably one of the least forced marriages, other than the child characters who don't propose on the spot.

    - Gaius is the only one for Cordelia.

    - Healers in this game are the worst in the series.

    - The children should have been the main characters.

  9. + Excellent synergy with Galeforce, Pass, and Wrath.

+ Could have significant synergy with Sol/Aether, Miracle, and Renewal.

+ Allows your healer(s) to turn their attention to other units in need. May reduce the number of healers needed in a group composition.

+ Removes the need for low to mid tier healing items on the unit (vulnerary and concoction) - will probably still want to carry an elixir for emergency full heals.

+ Heals the damage from the opponent's counter-attack.

+ Counters Counter, so long as the reflected damage isn't lethal.

    - No benefit during the Enemy Turn, where lethal damage is most likely to occur.

    - Can be risky to use - you must guarantee that your unit will not only survive the trade but also kill the unit.

    7/10.

  10. what about if we put Laurent instead :Kappa:

Laurent/Yarne? I'm going to need more brain bleach.

    Replace Chambray/Yarne with you.

Unless you're an extreme maso... I don't see that relationship working out.

I wasn't aware that I had giant rabbit ears to pull on. Remind me to look in the mirror longer next time. I'm sure I'll find them somewhere.

  11. Especially Morgan-F/Yarne? That support, along with Morgan-F/Inigo and Morgan-F/Laurent, is the reason I hate that annoying little shit. ._.; Her sadistic nature isn't cute or endearing, it makes her a complete bitch. Torturing bunnies isn't love, you shouldn't pick on a guy who just wants love, and you shouldn't ruin books because you're bored. She's completely unlikable.

Opinions, opinions. Nothing is true, everything is permitted and all that jazz.

You don't like her. I really do. Personally, I find Lissa to be intolerably annoying, and Tharja, while amusing, is undeniably a terrible person. When it reaches S supports, Morgan's so-called sadism is nothing more than a poorly expressed affection, while Tharja casts curses on her loved ones just because there's no one else around - and Morgan is the completely unlikable one?

More importantly, I just find it ridiculous that the only unavailable marriage is one who looks relatively legal (at least for the time period of the game) while there is a 1,000 year old lolicon who is apparently fair game. And on that topic, how do Manaketes even work? She's 1,000 and looks 10-12, and her post-timeskip (15-20 years?) daughter looks the same age, if not a little older than she does. If only Nowi was my daughter instead.

  12. I could somewhat stomach a lot of dumb stuff of the game but when the Avatar apparently holds back when shoving a lightning dagger through Chrom's stomach because he remembered the prologue I was really done with the game.

The Avatar almost getting possessed by Grima afterwords just made it worse. Then they get saved by the power of friendship which apparently wasn't enough previously. Actually, does the Avatar's spouse and children say anything different during the very last chapter when he gets teleported away.

The story had a lot of bad moments. The lightning dagger, which might not have been him holding back so much as not striking vitals, the power of friendship tripe, and the entirety of the unnecessary Valm arc could be viewed as weakpoints of the story. Overall, though, I feel like the story was one of the better Fire Emblem ones. It's not quite on the level of PoR or RD, but I'd put it leagues above the other handheld titles.

  13. Basically this. Like, Integrity said, it's ultimately subjective material that some people are going to respond positively to and others aren't. Comes down to what one values in a narrative and preferences and such.

Although I will comment on how a lot of people are saying that because Awakening was going to be the last game in the series it needed to end on a happy note. For the final entry in a series, I'd especially prefer a bittersweet approach, because if you knew you were playing the last entry in a series that is bittersweet. Not that it matters anymore since Awakening raked in the money, honey.

Everyone keeps saying that Awakening was intended to be the last title. What's the story here? Was Shadow Dragon so bad that it failed to produce a sufficient profit.

  14. I don't Morgan is a woman, she looks like a girl around the age of 13-14 even if her voice says otherwise.

In topic (somewhat): I think she's adorable, but I prefer Cynthie as a daughter a ton and have been neglecting Morgan since liek, forever.

She looks way more like a woman than Nowi or Lissa and that doesn't stop MU from slapping a ring on their finger. Like Henry, Morgan (f) can at least pass for 16-18 in a Japanese artstyle, unlike Nowi or Ricken.

  15. If there was any romantic feeling between them, it was blatantly one-sided. Gangrel was used and manipulated by Aversa and Validar. It's possible (but not stated or even implied, really) that Aversa granted him certain physical favors along the way, but there's nothing to support any significant attachment between the two.
