Besides, don't give them what they want. They are satisfied with only being friends? Well don't let them have that anymore and if they were really that close to you, then they will start missing you. Then when you both are finally back in each others' lives, he/she will see how you've supposedly "changed" and will possibly let go of the friendzone.
