Rehab Posted December 9, 2008 Share Posted December 9, 2008 (edited) HnI's a relatively standard "the main character fights people to get stronger and grow up mentally" anime, but with some grounding in reality. Like the fights are good, but not unbelievable mostly. Like 2 people here watch it, if I counted right. The good stuff: entertaining characters, good fights, unique enough art. It's also got dude humor. A new season's coming out in January. Watch it from easy-to-find streamed sites and be happy. Actually, I havent watch the anime yet but I finished the manga for along time and I can say the character is kind unique and cool, expecialy, the guy in your sig. SantaBlah Posted January 21, 2009 Share Posted January 21, 2009 At first, I was a bit sceptical concerning this series. Well, I'm not a fan of boxing to begin with. There are three aspects that dragged me into it. 1. The unique art style. Now, I know it isn't particularly appealing to some new anime/manga fans, but it's rough and old school, perfect, for fans such as myself. 1989 is the year of the epic beginning of this series. 2. The fights. They're entertaining. 3. The humour. Yeah I get it, all these references to your genitals, and yet, I find it strangely funny. By the way, there's a new season out already entitled Hajime no Ippo : New Challenger which is the continuation of the manga. 2 episodes out and subbed by Animebreaker, available both in SD and HD, so check it out.
