Lord_Brand Posted 7 hours ago Share Posted 7 hours ago Recently, I was talking with my bro about the idea of a new twist to party members in a Chrono Trigger remake: branching character promotion paths that build up different aspects of their skillset, letting you tailor their growth to your liking. The trees would be structured similarly to the promotions in Trial of Mana, where each character promotes twice, choosing one of two promotion paths. However, there would be a third option for the second promotion: combining both of the second-stage promotions together, forgoing the highest-level skills in favor of a more balanced skillset. In most cases, the promotion tree is split like thus: Base > Physical or Magical > Offense or Support Each promotion also comes with an update to the character's appearance, generally adding a few new elements or upgrading existing ones. (Lists are WIP; I'll complete them over time. I want to post them now so I don't lose everything I've written down so far.) Crono Spoiler Warrior Techs: Cyclone Wind Slash ★Lightning Promotes to: Swordsman or Lightblade Swordsman Passive: Crono gains a chance of parrying incoming attacks with his katana. Techs Taunt - Provokes an enemy into focusing its attacks on Crono. Cleave ★Lightning Sword - Crono strikes with a katana empowered by lightning. Promotes to: Bodyguard or Blademaster Bodyguard Passive: Crono has a chance of countering attacks Techs Cover - Crono moves to protect target ally from incoming attacks. Blademaster Passive: Crono gains the ability to Dual-Wield katanas, unlocking a second weapon slot. Techs Fighting Spirit - Crono enhances his own attack power and speed, at the cost of reduced defense. Frenzy ★Spirit Slash - Crono stries with a light-empowered katana.
