vanguard333
They really did it; they announced Xenoblade Chronicles X is getting a definitive version for the Switch: I remember getting this game for the Wii U almost ten years ago. It was my first ever Xenoblade game, and, to this day, it is the only one I've ever been able to finish. I greatly enjoy the worlds and stories in Xenoblade games, but I don't find them fun to explore and I don't like the MMO-like combat. This game, however, had absolutely fantastic exploration; exploring the world was a ton of fun. For years, this game has been trapped on the Wii U; the stated reason having been that the game doesn't fit on a standard Switch cartridge and would've required the cartridge used for games like The Witcher 3, and the game wasn't popular enough to warrant using that cartridge. I truly thought this game would remain confined to the Wii U, so to see it finally be announced for the Switch... well, "it's a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one." I wonder how much they've added to this version. The original Wii U version needed free DLC packs that improved the frame rate and render distance among other things; I imagine that stuff is probably in the Switch version by default. More importantly, though, the original game ended on two massive cliffhangers that I figured were hooks for a sequel that never came, but I've seen some speculate were probably a result of cut content. Either way, given that one of the cliffhangers that was a post-credits scene is outright shown at the end of this trailer, I wonder if this definitive version will add new content that resolves the two cliffhangers. Fabulously Olivier
I'll have to put this on my wishlist and pay attention for an appropriate sale. Xenoblade is not a consistent series for me, but when it hits, it really hits.
EricaofRenais
I am down for this especially if they answer the cliffhangers which have bothered me for 10 years. Considering all the Switch versions of Xenoblade games have had added story content I think the chances are good of the questions being answered. Etrurian emperor
Well that's Xenoblade Xtremely surprising.
_Serendipity
They actually went and did it! I'm a massive fan of XC1-3 and all of the diehard fans keep saying how good X is. Def adding this to my backlog when it comes out. Also crazy to think we now have all of the Xenoblade games on the Switch!
indigoasis
I always thought that the cliffhangers were sequel bait, and then that sequel never happened, so I'm curious to see how they'll be resolved and if they'll tie it back into the other Xenoblade games. Also, assuming the Switch 2/Super Switch/Switch Ultra Deluxe is backward compatible with Switch 1/Normal Switch/Switch, I can see the online modes of this game having about the same longevity of the original, if not longer... but I never engaged with the online modes much anyway, and with NSO being not free, I hope that there will be in-game alternatives for accessing certain things. Zapp Branniglenn
I'll stick to the Wii U version, thanks. Yes its still plugged in. Be prepared for a long, talky opening. Yes, I do mean lengthy by Xenoblade standards Didn't they decide not to do this port because they wanted to finish the first game's story (trilogy) while they were still on the same hardware? Implying that they'd only want to do X if they had the time to followup on its story too. I'll bet these guys also thought we'd have a Super Switch out by 2023 or 2024.
