If you're a sad sack like me then you have to manage your cash because I don't have DLC (at least not on the 3DS I'm currently using). Awakening's pretty generous with money. I left that out because in general, I'd rather buy them from a shop that has all of them available at once, and I can't remember if any spotpass character fulfills that. And even then, it's kinda inconvenient to have to resummon and track them down. Will know that Noel doesn't need to be in the kitchen - it ain't where she belongs.
