That's odd indeed, considering it was a feature in both games. Doesn't help that Teleport has a cooldown of several seconds (somewhere around 8 or 9 last I read) even if it would be available to multiple classes through items. Instead of just gambling for hours now you can work for safer results I guess. This said, any kind of gaming abuse is good. No dodging that army of Undead Fetish exploding on your ass anymore! Hell, health potions and a certain curse that gives 50% leech life for everything are considered very bad mannered. Not so much for mana, except for Energy Shield Sorceresses I guess.
