Chalis
[spoiler=Dem footnotes] Pornographic movies and pictures women take of themselves and post online are the only exceptions to this statement. We wouldn't consider many of these pictures pornographic if the women, like those in playboy, are just nude in them, but if they are masturbating or engaging in sexual acts with another girl or a man, then the material becomes pornographic. These images are still for men, however. We see many instances of this on 4chan's /b/ board (NOT SAFE FOR WORK), where the so-called "camwhores" post pics to "get attention." These women only better illustrate my point. They have, like many romance novelists, internalized patriarchal constructions of women. They have internalized these ideas to such a degree that these women (many of whom have low self-esteem) seek self worth using the only real measure of a woman's worth in a patriarchal society: by how well they please men. We can amend my definition of porn for this exception to say porn is traditionally made by men and always controlled by men and made for men. These women do not objectify themselves (which is impossible): even in an ordinary picture, men always have the power to objectify them. These women, internalizing patriarchal norms, cannot see beyond a sense of value outside of a relation to men, and thus, these "attention whores," in a bid for a sense of worth, unable to percieve of anything beyond a male-centric measure of value, work desperately for approval from men. Icon of Sin
Looking at the Dream World abilities, Jaroda/Royal Smugleaf may have a broken combo with it : Leaf Storm now RAISES its Special Attack by 2 Stages. Consider it's nice speed and defenses, you have literally something awesome. Though I do like Reckless Emboar. Superpowered Head Smash and Flare Blitz is awesome. Chalis
I was going to play BW before reading this. Now I realize I should be doing my homework. [spoiler=another block of text] Contrary to its forebears, yaoi runs counter to a social system in which men control bodies. It exists outside the market of women between men. It not only accepts and is built around the notion of women as subjective, sexual entities, like romance novels, but it portrays two people who are on equal footing in a mutual, loving, sexual relationship.Portraying this kind of reciprocty in yaoi is crucial consider much yaoi targets girls in high school who are young and impressionable. Think about it. If these girls were to write and read comics that featured high school-aged girls in sexual relationships with boys, it would be like walking in a mine field because, necessarily, the girls must attribute that girl and all the baggage patriarchy has attached to her, to their own identities. Thirsting for Love shows us that it's impossible, in our current society (particularly in Japan), to depict a sexually liberated woman without the author or audience either demonizing her, modifying the situation to justify her behavior (she is terminally ill, she was sexually abused and really just wants love, etc), or making a didactic example out of her. This is because a sexually liberated female is threatening in a society in which men control female bodies: she is called “slut” and “whore,” names given to women men directly consume as commodities, as men can only control her by giving her the name of a woman who exists for their pleasure. It's as yaoi artist Tanigawa Tamae stated, in a defense of yaoi to a gay activist who claimed yaoi objectified gay men: women are “weaker” than even gay men because women are “victims of patriarchy, which prevent them from loving themselves as women” (Lunsing). Tanigawa points to gay men's ability to defend themselves by creating images of themselves as they like, contrasting that power with women's inability to even love their own image.
