Dr. Tarrasque
Except that even goddamn Vincent agrees Vincent Indeed. I've already voice my thoughts on this. why change things (i.e., names) that are already in common use? To be redundant. A translation that is useful focuses on removing the language barrier, that is, making it possible for people to PLAY the bloody game without having to memorize what menus and commands do what by translating them. In the case of story, you just need to translate it so people can understand the plot, whatever the hell the bloody names are is irrelevant so long as x character is referenced with a consistent name. Changing characters' names from what the players are already used to is pointless, specially if the translation is by fans. It seems the first sentence is more accurate that I believed. Pride
That was against the bracers right Yep. I tried doing that fight without dropping my mess of AOE S-Breaks and that one guy with the heals/buffs/revives just made it too much of a hassle. Next up is that stupidly strong assassin who's been making everyone look like chumps. also that sewer dungeon was so glorious for grinding speaking of which around what level should I be for the end? 30 right now. Lawrence or whatever? Just grind as long as the shining poms give you decent exp and nothing else matters If no shining poms, as long as the regular enemies give you reasonable exp Edited April 10, 2012 by TheEnd
Fei Mao
I think I'll take a break to check out this Skullgirls demo. I heard the DLC for that game was the characters move list.

Sarcasm DOESN'T work with Japanese... or at least it's really hard to get. Like how native speakers WILL take you seriously when you say something. But yeah... "ha ha. I see what you did there." Rehab
I think I once heard that a (Japanese) word meaning something along the lines of "greatly respectable one" became something resembling a swear over time because of repeated sarcastic use, though. Can't place it, unfortunately. Edited April 10, 2012 by Rehab

Apparently they didn't have time to throw it in, which is kinda disappointing considering the rest of the package is pretty polished. Chalis
Rather than Monmusu, maybe I should find a yaoi game. They're usually really shallow unless it's Animamundi. Which is actually a pretty nice gothic crafting VN. BUT HEY LOOK HERE AND THEN HERE [spoiler=AND NOW HERE]

TheEnd
He's 2 years ahead of me college wise. Art Major. Pretty fluent in Japanese. So one day he came to you and said, "Hey Rey, did you know sarcasm doesn't work in Japanese? Yeah, it doesn't." and walked away? I care little about arrogance or politeness. What I care about is logic and reasoning. Offer good logic and reasoning and you'll impress me. You have done no such thing. I respect Vincent, and he's offered some reasoning. But in this case, I can't agree with it. New players do get introduced to the older FE games, and others can be receptive and adapt to new names, especially names with a good, logical reason to be used, as applies to at least a few of Banzai's proposals. With that in mind, I would be a fool to let myself be biased by my appreciation for him or for his politeness and to let that keep me from finding the truth. Great people can be wrong, and they can be wrong as politely as anyone could possibly be, but that does not make them any less wrong. Ultimately, all that matters is the logical truth and the reasoning that leads to it. This is what I seek, always.
