The only possible explanation for that I can think of at the moment is... maybe that's not Mikau's body we saw, but his spirit? Which is what faded and transformed into a tangible form, a.k.a. the mask. He DID come out of the ocean... his body could actually be in there still and the spirit is what wandered up onto the shore. ... Considering that Darmani was a spirit as hell, AND that would still leave behind a husk for the Deku Butler to find! Huh. That sounds... semi-plausible? I've never actually done Majora's mask, but from what I've read about it, it takes place just after Ocarina of Time, where Link goes back to his original time, 7 years ago and goes off to Termina. No as for Link dying..... That actually comes into play with Wind Waker's timeline, which occured from when the Link in OoT failed (That or Ganon made his return after Link beat him, but with him sent back in time, there was no one to stop him). Because of his tyranny, the Gods (or someone or thing else that I cant remember) flooded Hyrule, why has now become the Great Sea.
