I've only played up to chapter 2 or 3 because navigating all the menus isn't really friendly for non-Japanese speakers. But seriously, it's better than the speed systems seen in FFT and the likes because you can decide who moves first which gives you a lot more control over your strategy. And it fixes FE's system because you don't spend 2 minutes every turn watching the game plays its turn (fixed with skipping but it's still somewhat bad because you don't really see what's going on) and ambush reinforcements stop being a problem. (Though to its credit, FE's system can really add a lot of tension). Kaga really found an elegant solution to those problems and I'm sad when I think FE could have turned into this. It took me a good 5 minutes to visit a village because of that. Much easier when you have some viewers piecing stuff together with you, though. It's a really good blend of new and old. Berwick's turns are so much better because it makes you think differently and you're participating more instead of sitting and watching. I don't think I can describe it better than you saying it's elegant. Tonton said he hates FE6 even more for regressing while he was watching, haha.
