Look at this spoiler if you want to be spoiled for the rest of the game. Fiersome is causing the earthquakes. He is the god of fire in rune factory. If you read one of the books in RF1 you will see. he is the final boss in the second generation. Kyle goes away once you have built the school to keep Fiersome at bay while yourself (second gen kid) needs to defeat it. Its a rather interesting story especially the secret ending.
