I'd love to experience something like -45 just once, but I'd hate to live with constant -30 and colder..Yeah, we have the Gulf Stream, and now we don't even get real winters anymore like we did in the 90's, it just jumps from 0 to -10 and back all the time. If I'm lucky we'll see -20 during february.. I can see that. I guess you live far inland? Nah don't worry. Our average high in January, coldest month of the year, is -7.9 and we get about 315 cm of snow each year ( last year was a record 530 something, and the one before that we didn't even have snow for Christmas while we usually get a small blanket in November ). Cold waves and blizzards are probably the toughest natural hazards we get here since we have almost no tornadoes, we live in the middle of a tectonic plate and heat waves are short. Heh, global warming. It's actually a cycle and these years it's supposed to be warmer. According to some sources I had long ago for example, it was colder than average around the sixteenth century. Somewhat. I live in a valley between two mountain ranges and near a river going into the Atlantic. EDIT: Gee that felt out of place... My region is actually the least affected in my province. A few years ago, freezing rain got most of the south, while massive floods did a lot of trouble in the north. Well it's basically like they took the whole name of the continent to themselves.
