Ar-Wing Pilot
Those nukes I mentioned earlier that made the crack? They WERE inside Axis. So no, it wouldn't be easy. MS mostly pack a mix of Kinetic and Beam weaponry, and some of which would punch right through such a shield, like the Alpha Aizeru's Mega Particle Gun, which actually has been shown to be able to punch through similar shields (IE Nu Gundam's Bit Shield) The Missiles still don't work on bases, and would only take out one squad each. THANKYOUCOMEAGAIN. You'd have to fight past the suits outside, Let me explain. Missile 1 -> Blows apart anything outside the base. Interceptor flies inside, blows apart an entrance. Even if you do say impossible, Interceptor shield would allow me to simply burn a way into your base. Broken, yes. But point remains. Missile 2 -> Fired inside new hole/blown apart entrance. No more squads inside the base. If Missile 2 wasn't enough to blow apart the base itself, would simply be a matter of destroying whatever needed facilities inside base. Game over. Missile 1 would take out one squad of 5-10 MS. You'd sill have another 990+ MS to go. Interceptor would get shot down before it even hit the first defense line. There's that many troops there. Bullet Hell here would be an understatement; It's a whole freakin' Bullet WALL.

Altera the Hun
Missiles work in an area. If it was within sight distance of the base, it's gone. Barrel roll. It's a wide spread for the units. Ever seen Char's Counterattack? The squads are pretty damn spread apart. Plus, it's implied in SF:C that these same kinds of missiles are the kind being fired on the Great Fox that you need to shoot down, too, and Missiles like those get picked off pretty easily in Gundam... When they're seen coming... Barrel Roll won't save you from everything. The heavier beams still worked on you in the games, and I don't think it works against Kinetic weapons either, considering what barrel rolling into an asteroid or a ship does. A bazooka or high-end beam weapon would punch through still, and then there's Beam Sabers...

Much quicker, in case you haven't noticed. Those take hours (essentially). These take seconds. And that's what the interceptor shields are for. When it's enough to protect you from a dead-on collision, it's pretty powerful. Edited March 28, 2010 by Ar-Wing Pilot

Those take hours (essentially). These take seconds. And that's what the interceptor shields are for. When it's enough to protect you from a dead-on collision, it's pretty powerful. You'd also have to deal with actual nukes, high-yield explosives, and practically a literal wall of beams. Warp System might not work so well with Minovsky particles floating around, and the Lockon DEFINITELY won't work. Gyunei Guss shot down a whole swarm of those kinds of missiles in CCA, as did Char himself. You don't even try hiding your missiles amongst thousands of dummy missiles like the Federation did... Not like it'd help. A very high-yield Beam weapon should still punch through, IE the Mega Particle Gun on the Alpha Aizeru. And if all else fails, block it with a Beam Saber.
