What are the specs on your current laptop? I'm guessing they're not too good. But yeah, if you want a gaming rig desktops are your best option.

I had this for 2¹/₂ years, so here goes:

• Intel Core 2 Duo processor (1.5GHz)
  
• 2 GB of RAM (upgraded from 1 GB)
  
• Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP3
  
• NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS, 1440 x 900 display
  
• 68.8 GB Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
  

Doesn't really work that way though, because of the way motherboard sockets change. I'd be hard-pressed to find substitute pieces for my 5-years-old desktop (which is why I'm always worried about its overheating issues; if my CPU gets fried, I'll pretty much need to get/make a new PC really).

When If we get a new PC, we're probably merging my PC and my mother's. Hers is a bit too old (8 years), and mine has some issues of its own as well, so.
