That might work on some random brawler, but without footwork, you'll get torn apart by anyone who's a real fighter. Especially someone who's a Boxer; Some flurry of blows won't help you at all against someone who can easily bob and weave around your attacks, and without footwork, you'll be taking every hit thrown at you, guarded or not.
