But seriously, jumping kicks tend to get you your ass kicked. And even then, only a few of them can do enough damage to even bother using.

Yeah, you're not supposed to jump high when you fight. You're a target in the air, and unlike SF3, NO AIR PARRYING FOR YOU.

It's worse in Jojo and Marvel vs Capcom where you can GUARD while in the air. At least parrying requires precise timing to do >_>

Fighting games are never realistic. Don't compare real life to them, or you'll get laid out, quick.

You mean mashing the 3 Punch buttons when you get hit? Not that bad.

Parrying in SF3. Though if you meant about guarding, you can press back and guard most attacks while in the air... I think the only time you can't do that is if you've made an attack airborne.

Oh that.

You can do the same thing in Jojo by pressing all three punch buttons. You'll notice if you succeed by your character saying something, a few blue sparks and your opponent getting knocked back. It's rather easy to do but I forget to do it often unless I want to dash.

There's Guard Cancels too, but I forget how they work.

Do I detect a life lesson learned from experience?

Kinda. I wasn't actually the one who was stupid enough to make that mistake, though one of the lower rank students did during one class. The instructor enjoyed handing a green-belt his ass for trying to do a Shoryuken. Granted, a proper uppercut with a jump added in could effectively be a Shoryuken, but this kid left himself wide open with that swing of an uppercut.

Which also reminds me, winding up is stupid. Don't do it, it leaves you wide open and telegraphs exactly what you're gonna do.

Sheesh, I'm accurate when I don't even intend to be. What the hell.
