Remmé
It's slimmer, which I really notice since I can put it into my pocket and still remain comfortable. Yes, there is also the matte finish. It's not shiny or succeptible to fingerprints and has better grip, but I do warn you that it might be possible to scuff the surface. As for actual performance, I like the buttons more. In Portrait of Ruin, my fingers made it hard for me to skip using the L button (which is faster than walking) but with the DSi, I can do it just fine. The screen, mic and sound have slight touches or improvements to make them better. Another cool thing is a light glows at the top left when you are getting a WiFi signal. Eh... the camera still seems so odd and pointless to me. I would say "I can't complain." but it drives the price up. '~'
Aitherion
My flashcart is a DSi, sans shitty camera. Can you run DSiWare on a flash cart on a Lite? That'd be sort of neat.
Celice
If the developers aren't making use of the extra power at all (likely), all it would take is to figure out how to decrypt the data. Last I heard, it's basically Wii 2.0. And Nintendo thinks it's fighting piracy... >.> And if not, is there really anything worth it...? If the WiiWare service is any indication, YouTube will suffice. 21_21
Yeah, but most, if not all, DSi Ware games are not good to begin with IMO. The camera and mp are just outright useless (you should already have your own camera and iPod that can do even more) We already know what we think about Pictochat. And the internet browser just plain sucks. I don't even know why you would want to use your DSi anyway for internet apps (youtube etc) when you should be using your computer for all that stuff. And I don't think the fingerprints is that much of an issue. Seems like the only thing it's good for is playing games, so you might as well pay lower for DS Lite or a used regular, especially if you have gba games. This is just what I think of DSi. jordan
Seriously? Did you go into the store all "Finally, I'll have a gaming system that treats my dog's face like an equal to a human face!" I lol'd... so hard
Aitherion
And if not, is there really anything worth it...? If the WiiWare service is any indication, YouTube will suffice. Probably not, just curiosity. And there are some WiiWare games that are worthwhile, like FFIV and My Life As King...
Celice
My Life as a King is arguable, and FFIV: After Years could be worth it to fans... but from what I've played of both, a Let's Play video or visual walkthrough captures the essence of what the games offer. Robert
From DS to DSi is worth it. From DS lite to DSi is not worth it. The camera quality is bad, and there are editing flaws.
Ike-Mike
design (good bye lame hinges) Really? Now that'd be reason enough for me to get a DSi now that my Lite's hinge broke and the upper screen is completely loose and I can't seem to find my receipt ... Having the Animal Crossing town theme play every hour is way cooler than any clock I've ever had. But are those the town themes for each respective hour or just on of the town themes? Remmé
design (good bye lame hinges) Really? Now that'd be reason enough for me to get a DSi now that my Lite's hinge broke and the upper screen is completely loose and I can't seem to find my receipt ... Yes. This is what happened to me. I've had two DS Lites break because of hinge cracks. Keep in mind, I have never, ever dropped either of them. Of course after the first one broke, I was being more careful with the second one. It never bent back further than it should and I only opened it slowly. Bloody thing still broke. Having the Animal Crossing town theme play every hour is way cooler than any clock I've ever had. But are those the town themes for each respective hour or just on of the town themes? Oh, that'd be bad if it played a song every hour!I refer to the common town theme. You know, like clock bells that play every hour. Just like in Animal Crossing, you can change it to whatever you want as long as it fits. I really liked the Sound Stone from EarthBound, but the default GCN Animal Crossing town tune has charm. <3 Edited August 10, 2009 by Rhelm
Colonel M
I guess suddenly people expected the camera to work like a Kodak camera. Think about it people: it's not a great camera but that doesn't make it auto-suck. The MP part of it is still convenient. I don't have an Ipod anyway and tbh I don't even have a camera. If you have a DSLite and want to buy it due to some flaws to your other DSLite (my example is the top screen sucks) or you don't mind some of the features (tbh I didn't really care that much about the camera and internet is okay-ish if you lack the laptop). It's the point of the DSi: convenience. It doesn't do a terrible job of it either.
Celice
For the price it certainly fails at "convenience." If I wanted mediocre performance I'd buy one of those miniature 64MB cameras for kids fucking marketing fucking age, making 64MB look small
21_21
All in all, people buy DS to play handheld games, not for some other gimmicky apps that are built in. If you want to take a picture, buy a camera. Wanna listen to music, iPod can store over 1000 songs. And why go to the internet through your DSi when there's a computer 5 feet from you? So if you buy DS to play games, Lite would be better over i.
Colonel M
That is assuming that there won't be any exclusive games. If it had something similair to the Wii's Virtual Consule it'd be much more worth it. I could care less about the other gimmicks (the music thing was nice because I lacked an Ipod). I haven't had a chance to try out the music player yet, so how does it work? Do you have to manually start a song after each one finishes? Or can you actually set a playlist, or at least set a song to loop?
Colonel M
You can set something like a playlist (just have to do it on the computer). You can choose for it to randomize the music too. It's not too bad.
Remmé
The net browser isn't that bad. It doesn't handle Flash but at least it stores cookies. There are many times where I can't or don't want to be on the PC or laptop. I might have my DSi with me when I'm out and about since it fits in my pocket. If I happen to be at a wireless hotspot, I can enjoy it.
21_21
Does Burger King still have hotspots? I think it's McDonald's or BK can't remember. Also, where else can you find good hotspots?
Remmé
Where I live, you can find them in parks and near hospitals. A lot of commercial heavy districts have them, too. It sure is nice to surf the net while I wait for my specialist appointment.

Rodykitty
Some convenience stores may have them. I know my laptop managed to connect to a Love's access point when riding past it. I had internet for maybe a split second.
Colonel M
I remember I went near a 7 Eleven gas station which had WiFi. Truck stops would have them too I'm guessing.
