Catnip
Hello all, I'm Catnip, known as Catnip in the ~3 forums I've been on. I've been watching this forum from the shadows for about a month now, and I thought I'd join the community. I hope I can become an active and helpful member of this forum. Kinata
How can you watch this forum from the shadows when it is nothing but a dark, bleak shadow itself? Just kidding, this place is great. Welcome to the forest.
Fayt Zelpher
Always nice to see a new 'recruit' here. But then again, I'm just glad that I am not the newest here now.

Hero
Welcome to the forest, Catnip. I'll admit I'm not the most familiar with you, I've always been in the dog camp myself. The closest I've come is leftover meat and Beggin' Strips. So tell me a bit about yourself. Which Fire Emblem games have you played?
Catnip
I've played FE9, FE10, and FE7, in that order. FE9 and FE10 both have...probably 10 playthroughs between the two of them, even split. FE7 has 1 playthrough and I'm currently on a new one (though not doing so well). I'm stuck because I never let any character die. Ever. I restart the whole chapter if someone dies (Sain just died against the boss, ugh.)
Hero
I've played FE9, FE10, and FE7, in that order. FE9 and FE10 both have...probably 10 playthroughs between the two of them, even split. FE7 has 1 playthrough and I'm currently on a new one (though not doing so well). I'm stuck because I never let any character die. Ever. I restart the whole chapter if someone dies (Sain just died against the boss, ugh.) Most FE players do it that way, so don't think it's a big handicap you're putting on yourself. If you're playing a Hard Mode it can be very annoying, but if you play cautiously it's almost always possible to get through without casualties. Especially in the GBA FEs it's tempting to act recklessly when you're really opening yourself up to disaster.

I think I'm a pretty good FE player overall, at least mediocre, but I can't be classified as "Good" as much as I can "Decent".
Hero
Well, I'm not very good. I think I'm a pretty good FE player overall, at least mediocre, but I can't be classified as "Good" as much as I can "Decent". You'll get the hang of it in time. FE isn't so much about skill, I think, as familiarity with various situations and patience. Someone who's a bomb at the GBA FEs might be a bit clumsy and feel overwhelmed coming to FE4 with its huge number of units and high stats and movements movements, and I imagine it would be the same coming from having played FE9 and FE10 to death and over again to FE7. I know for sure that it always takes a bit of adjusting after you've beaten a game with high-level overpowered characters when you're starting a new one where barely anyone can one-round an enemy. Yes, that is true. its almost like a different series, really. The stat amounts are so different, as are the sprites, story, gameplay, etc. Such a variety within a game and within the whole series is a big reason I'm into Fire Emblem.
