Actually, Modern FE sounds cool too.

Swords = Sub Machine Gun.

Lances = Assault Rifle.

Axes = Shotgun.

Bow = Sniper Rifle.

Cleric/Staves = Medics/Medigun.

Mage/Magic = Grenadiers/Grenades.

Thief = Spies.

Knives = Knives. lulz

Manakete = Support Vehicle.

Dragonstone name of choice = Radio.

Yes, if you want to play modern FE, I suggest you go find a copy of Advance Wars.

I'd like to see a Old West version myself, though I'm not sure how that would go.

Guns and FE just don't mix IMHO...

Introducing guns into the mix would require IS to completely rebalance the game and quite possibly dramatically change mechanics if they don't want to destroy whatever semblance of balance FE has. Imagine if half the characters in the game had 1~10 range or so, and the others stuck either with 1 or 1~4 or so, and every character doing enough damage to kill practically every other character in a single hit.
