Defeatist Elitist
A socialist society can still have an elite. Besides, the descriptor elite is intended to describe their skill level, not some level of special privilege.

bunny: spider bitten
That said, Brock is still a shitty trainer. Ha, only two Pokemon. I don't think he even ends up getting more when you fight him again. Technically, Green and Giovanni are supposed to be first, but Giovanni is rarely at his Gym and... I don't know why Green is such a pain in the ass to get to. :/ First off, I know that, but Red and Blue aren't exactly common names in any society, and it couldn't have hurt to call them Ash and Gary. Second, Brock actually has a decent team when you fight him again. At least, not bad. Kabutops, Golem, Super Rhydon, and so on. Rock being a bad type, it's close to the best you can hope for. Like, Whitney is a Nomal type trainer, so her team is actually pretty bad. And among other things, Blue's rematch team in Soul Silver has levels in the 70s, while other gym leaders have levels in the upper 50s/lower 60s. You can get through the elite four with a solid team of either, but it's at least a subtle reference that Blue has been better than most at one point. Of course, Red has his level 88 Pikachu. Ash isn't a bad substitute for Red, as the name refers to Red Ash trees, but Gary doesn't fit the theme naming like Green does. And since the actual characters Ash and Red are totally different when examined... Brock only got those other Pokemon recently. And when you actually look at the accompanying manga, he wouldn't even have that Golem if it wasn't for Yellow. Who STILL has never appeared in the games. Whitney, on the other hand, STILL HAS THAT FUCKING MILTANK. Fucking Rollout... Green/Blue's high levels is indeed a reflection on the fact that he was once the Champion, as Red technically is and Lance officially is now. He's also supposed to be the ultimate Trainer (Opposed to Red, the ultimate Battler(No pun intended)). It makes sense that his Pokemon would be trained to high levels as they are. Blue/Leaf, Yellow(Who's STILL missing from the games...), Silver, Gold, and Kristal also have titles, but I can't remember them. Also, before anyone gets on my case about it, the guy who created the Pokemon series said that Pokemon Special is basially how he visioned Pokemon to begin with. And considering the Flying/Surfing Pikachu easter eggs and the reveal about Silver in HG/SS, the manga's pretty canon.

bunny: spider bitten
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha You still have trouble with that? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha IT's odd how much that matchup stands out, since it was actually a very common trouble point in the games, but looking back, I'd have trouble figuring out why. Large part of it is, probably, you can't do super effective damage. The only thing worse they could do is give her Chansey or Blissey. But, back on topic.
