Original Alear
Although I have swum in dreams with the Undine daughters of Abaia, I am in fact a man of much the same genetic nature - or so I think - as the men of this age. I have met men who absorb the light of the sun, and struggled against men misshapen by centuries spent underground in caverns, and looked into the red eyes of the alzabo as it spoke with the words and memories of men not long dead, and seen a multitude of other once-men twisted by the passing of time to things that may or may not be called human, but I am a human like you. Junkhead
Who is "Abaia"? And was that a serious response? It sounds as it were taken from a book.

Fayt Zelpher
There is no process! You think that humans are rational beings who operate under logical pretenses. That very idea is a myth. Eliminate it from your brain and you will understand everything.

Eliminate it from your brain and you will understand everything. Damn! Shut up! I hate those typical idiots that go around saying humans are worthless and/or shameful beings! Just why the hell do cities exist? Just why the hell do YOU exist!? Do not generalize, not everyone is like that, most humans are different. EDIT: I'm sorry, but that just had to be said, that doesn't go with someone as intellegent as you.
BK-201
We clearly aren't rational overall though Soul. Have you ever acted on your emotions without thinking it through?
Junkhead
Most of the time, I do. But like I said, that isn't in general, that is just giving humans low credit.
BK-201
So only a few humans have acted on emotion over logic? The human population isn't as logical as they might want you to believe.

Fayt Zelpher
Nobody wants to make me believe anything, the way RP said it was just disturbing. Sugar coating my words would not change their meaning. Besides, I never said that it was bad to act on emotion. I actually am glad for the fact that we are not perfectly rational beings. In that case, we would be robots, and that would be a pointless existence. No, I don't think that humans are worthless. I merely think that they are not as perfect as you wish to give us credit for being.
BK-201
Human beings like to think of themselves as the most logical. Simply, to be completely logic driven we would have to weigh all options, and a comparison between negatives and positives. We don't. We often rush into a situation without truly grasping the concept.

We then say, "Oh fucking shit we are screwed."

We often rush into a situation without truly grasping the concept. And that's not a bad thing either. If we were meant to be completely rational, the world may well be far worse off than it is now. BK-201
Think of it like this, if we truly thought the human race, homo sapiens, were trash and <0 wouldn't we have committed suicide?

Original Alear
BTW Soul that passage will be selected from a book that I will write. It was translated from futurity by present-day author Gene Wolfe something like 2 decades ago. I don't think this is a good topic to think about whether humans are rational or not. I think most of our emotional impulses have an underlying rationality, but at a certain point you can call the inherent meaning of anything into question. But I probably sound too preachy and I hate it when people talk like I'm talking now.
