Because you've been spoiled by 3D graphics you graphic-whore! Actually, I don't know. I honestly never found it that hard except on my first try as that was first time playing FE and I had no idea what I was doing. If you feel FE7 is too hard, you can just Arena Abuse with the Ninis' Grace glitch, than roflstomp through the rest of the game with super-powered units.
