Question about emulating Gen 2/3 Pokemon game

When I tried loading up Emerald into my VBA (new copy of Emerald), it said that "the internal battery has run dry" and "clock-based events will no longer happen". However, I have Real Time Clock turned on for my emulator.

Is there something I can do or is there another emulator that actually can have the clock based events going?

I've never tried it with a GBA game, but I know no$gba uses the time on my computer when I emulate DS games. It's worth a try at least.

Edit: I've got a copy of the rom and I've just realised that DS games get the time from the DS itself and on GBA games the time has to be set. However I've been playing for a bit and I haven't received that message yet so I'm assuming that no$gba works.
