Jaybee
Spectral Force Genesis is a pretty interesting game. It's like a mega-version of Risk, with 35 players instead of 2~6, and an actual economy, as well as generals which have troops to fight. I don't feel like explaining much, so I'll just get into the action. [spoiler=Jan 1201 ~ April 1201] This is a sample picture of a power. You can see the lord there (he's pretty badass, btw), and the troops, status and currency. Troops is how many people you have that can fight for your power, and the status influences the likelihood of merchants trading and giving better prices. Unicorn Flag is the most powerful power in the beginning, so I pick it because it's my first time (OK, not exactly, though I only got to year 1208 before). Woo. After this we get treated to a little bit of backstory, including how Cygnus Line (the lord) gets his power. Oh shit. He's talking about some fellow named Magachi, and no, I don't know who he is. After this, it's some voice just saying "THE POWER" and Cygnus making erotic sounds. I AM YOUR FA- God dammit. I hope I don't have to explain what's wrong here. See what I mean? Even better. ... I'm just gonna try and screenshot everything involving innuendo from here on. !!! BLOODY HELL Oh hi. Those are the 4 starting generals of Newgard (That's their first city, and it's better than "Unicorn Flag", so I shall refer to it as such). Cygnus is da boss, Fugo is some fighter dude, Raz Raz is a mage and Neu is a defense unit. They also have other abilities I'll show later. Cygnus~ Cygnus gives a speech after that which I didn't feel like screening. So, January 1201, Taxes. What happens in this month is that you can trade with merchants Gold, Jewels and Livestock, and you can also Draft troops to generals. The Com button goes to trades, the Dft button does units. There is also Intel and World Map. I'll show Intel first. General List shows your generals and their stats, Status details shows your country's stats. Also, your counquered cities will be flashing at the top. Let's go to General List first. Power(POW) shows how good they are at fighting, Intellect (INT) shows how smart they are (and affects how good they are at Human Affairs), Charisma (CHA) affects how good they are at convincing others to join your cause and it helps during trading, Foreign (FOR) affects how good they are at Foreign Affairs, and I have no idea what LOY stands for, but I guess it stands for Loyalty, so how loyal they are to their nation. I have no idea what this does, cause it hasn't affected me so far. There are also battle skills which aren't exactly important right now :D Also, note the symbols above each general. Cygnus and Fugo have a sword, Neu has a shield and Raz has a wand. It's like a weapon triangle, where Defense > Swords > Magic > Defense. That's status details. The more troops you have, the more you can allocate to generals (Troop cap per general is at 400 though). Status influences trading, Generals is the number of generals you have (cap is 20). Conquest is the number of cities under your countrol, Gold, Jewels and Livestock can be sold for Relics, which can be used to upgrade walls and Help the economy (Status). You can't bribe people though. When you begin trading, you'll pick one person to trade, Ideally, that person will have a high luck stat, so I chose Neu because of that wonderful 10. The number in blue signifies the price of the item, the number on the right shows how many of that item I have. I sell half my gold and invest in Jewels and Livestock, leaving me with... Yeah, I chose to break even. I then go to Dft, and I have I have 112 spare troops, so I dump 100 in Neu's squad and the other 12 with Cygnus. With nothing else to do, I end the month. Now, February 1201, and Human Affairs! Rank lets you edit your people, Find lets you find more generals. I also realised I forgot to show World Map, so whatever, no one's gone yet anyway Defense shows how well armoured your city is, with a higher defense making it even tougher to break through. A city is captured if the wall is reduced to 0. A wall of about 18 can survive the most powerful assault, so yeah. Your cities will have the word "Me" in green, vassal states will have the word "Vn" in blue, and allied nations will have the word "Al" in Yellow. I decide to go look for someone, which again requires Charisma, so Neu goes. And she actually found someone! Some dude named Seiya, let's check his stats. Those stats are actually pretty damn good. I like. So, I go into Rank, and this is where it gets kinda tricky. The first post is Tactician, which depicts your highest ranked member. This affects every single stat of everyone, which leads to a lot of shuffling. You've seen how shitty Fugo is, so I'll change that soon. Envoy is used for Foreign Affairs and requires someone high in FOR, and Representative needs someone smart (INT). Mixing around, Raz Raz makes people good at fighting but horrible everywhere else, Neu makes Cygnus a piece of shit but gives high loyalty, and Seiya sucks. I give the position to Neu (the best of the shittiest), Raz Raz the envoy and Fugo the representative. I end the month after that, and March 1201 comes! March is Tax... but a different sort. See the "tax" button there? It allows for more money from the citizens, as well as recruiting more soldiers. Oh joy. After taxing, I have 1424 soldiers and 355 gold, I draft first, which looks like this: Raz has no one because Seiya outclasses her, and all spare troops went to Cygnus. This also gives me a good WTC. DO YOU SEE THAT FUCKING JEWEL RATE With nothing else to do, I end turn, and April comes. With April, comes BATTLE. Oh hey. Things like that randomly occur in some countries, and you can see the ability at the side. When it comes, you get to see which countries are beating the shit out of which. It will usually say "XXX Army and "XXX Army are battling", followed by "XXX army has lost." We don't get attacked, thankfully, because I'm about to wage war on either a pathetically weak country, or my neighbour at the top. This is the main screen. You can loot countries for their moneys, or you can battle. It's generally advised to loot first, as you've got a much higher chance of succeeding with a high number of people. I engage in 3 looting attempts, and fail each time. Oh well. I save, then I prepare to take my first country and victim, the Gulmani Dukedom! (The country on my right). !!! At the top-right you can see the enemy general(s) taking part in the battle, and I send mine out to fight as well. I know I have a numerical advantage; 1200 to their 968. Let's make it count. I also placed my troops already because I'm impulsive like that. This is a quick shot of the battlefield. I won't be taking many shots, just those at the beginning. Each unit also has skills they can use as their bar fills up; I'll try to screen that. I won pretty well. Yay. This shows up after beating the snot out of an enemy. You can seige after beating all their generals. As for me in that last battle, Fugo is low on troops, Neu and Seiya are both strong. At the top left you can see the enemy wall (They had a defense of 7, so 7 * 400 = 2800) and on the top-right is the number of troops I have. I have confidence I can break this wall down; let's try. Oh, and Persuade makes the enemy a Vassal Nation if they accept, and if you break all their walls down... You'll see. Well... damn. At least I can bust most of it down, and claim it later. I smack them down to 1 wall left, ripe for the taking. Next battle is in 4 months, I'll grab it then. I can also attack only once a month... Anyway, I save, then I stop for today. Jaybee
[spoiler=April 1201~December 1201] Oh hey, the first of 35 countries dies! Palace Army Virgina bites it in some battle I don't care about. With May comes Foreign Affairs, the one thing I haven't shown yet. Ally means you ally yourself with other nations. Usually what I do is ally myself with a weak as hell country, because it's easy to get them on your side. You can treat those cities they control as your own, meaning you can attack other cities bordering that country. Allies usually break treaties pretty quickly though, especially if they're stronger (In my first PT, my one city with 200 Status got owned by someone halfway across the map. Not fun). Persuade is more fun; it allows you to get other generals to join you. If you persuade the leader of a nation, that nation becomes a Vassal Nation. Fun stuff, but it's kinda harder. Both also run off of FOR, which only Cygnus and Raz have any amount of. Damn. I choose to Ally with these guys because I fucking can (plus they have a weak neighbour at the top), and... Well shit. Raz goes to "Persuade" one of the generals of that country I beat the living shit out of. This is kinda what the screen looks like. Note that Cygnus is in red because I already used him. I go for Giz Raka because the name sounds cool. ASSHOLE That being said, I've pretty much wasted this phase. Fugo's got 6 FOR, why not let him go fail at recruiting Sa- Yeah. Phase wasted, I end turn, bla bla bla. After that, June comes. June is Human Affairs, which means I can go "convince" someone to join me. I can also edit ranks, though there's no point in me doing that. Neu goes to look for someone, and there's... no one. This is the picture that will almost always show up when you go recruiting for someone. Boring phase, but next is BATTLE so I'm happy. Taking that kingdom from you, Randia~ July comes, a few battles, and- TARGET CHANGE. This idiot basically attacked a bit too much and now has no one left. If I attack him now, it cuts straight to a battle for the city. He's got a pathetic wall of 5; I can do this easily. Oh well, loot a bit first~ Looting gets me about 36 gold. Not bad. NOW, WAR on a dead nation, lol See where the enemy generals should be? Well, it's been replaced by question marks, because the enemy has no more generals with soldiers. This happens when the enemy has 0 soldiers left, lol. So, we get to the PERS, ATTACK AND RETREAT options. I obviosuly go for the attack, and I have their walls down in 3 attempts. Fuck yeah. w00t w00t * 2 This is what shows up when you beat the snot out of someone. Dismiss means they can join someone else, Execute means you KILL THEM, Invite means you ask them to join you. I figure he won't join me if I invite him, so I drag him to the torture chamber. I attempt to invite everyone else, and... No one joins. Yay. Spoils are basically items you can use to improve your general's abilities. Some give new in-battle abilities, some give stat ups, etc. Let's see what this one is. FUCK YEAH. I randomly give it to Neu because I can, and... That sounds fucking stupid. Second spoil! I give it to Seiya because Raz doesn't need any more Charisma "upgr-/shot Looking around, taking Nahali (the name of that city) was probably a good idea because it gives me a lot of chances to conquer weak nations. Gooooood. Now that that's done, end phase, and August co- ... What? OH SHIT Who the hell are you guys, gods and goddesses? ETERNAL RECURRENCE BLARGH I'll just conquer it first kthxbai- BITCH Finally, August. Foreign Affairs this month. I send Raz to one of those dead kingdoms, and I actually recruit someone! Kazaana Heiji, an Attacker which apparently committed adultery, Beautiful. He's got high For, though from my experience he can get 10 POW very easily, so I keep him around. I go to the NL Republic Army, which is powerful as hell, and I go and try to ally with them. They don't accept, screw them, I end up failing at everything else. Turn end. September has tax, which results in a low unit increase. Blargh. I end up with 355 people in Fugo's army and 354 in Neu and Seiya's. After that, trading! DAT GOLD PRICE. I buy boatloads of Livestock in exchange for gold. I is satisfied. October is Strategy! Now, this is kind of weird. You can choose to invest 50 Relics for a wall, or spend 10 relics to boost the economy. I go and spam wall building, because I'm bastardly like that. This is the picture. Wall is obvious, Inv stands for Invest... which should also be obvious. Oh, apparently both run off Intelligence. Not sure how smart you'd need to be to tell people to BUILD A FUCKING WALL, but eh. ... November is Strat again. Wonderful timing. Oh well, cue more building, and December comes! December is Battle, so I look around and everyone gained soldiers. Ehh, I'll just nuke that city again. LET'S GO ... Or rather, let's win within 30 seconds. They had 3 armies, all with 78 or 79 soldiers. Wow. Siege was easy as fuck, BTW. Smacked it down to THIS after 1 attempt. lolpwned Tee hee. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I attempt to invite everyone, and Sara joins of her own accord. Brilliant! This pretty much means generals will respect me. Obviously, I use it. FUCK YEAH Yay, second spoil. I give it to Neu because she has no 2nd level skill. Acceptable. With that, I save, and end.
